The highlights: Brent was organized and extremely helpful when I called to book; rates and expectations were clearly set out; the move confirmation email arrived quickly; for both moves I got an ETA call from the movers when they were on their way; the movers (Cody both times, and a different crew with him each time but to a man personable, respectful, well-prepared, and professional) were careful and efficient moving our belongings; the bill was exactly as expected; during our first move with Papa's we got both a friendly guide to our new neighbourhood and help re-assembling a lot of finicky furniture (that was a great introduction to Vancouver!). I highly recommend Papa's Moving. The rates are very reasonable and the service is excellent. It also feels good to support a family company of nice, helpful people that seem to genuinely care about making your move as quick and easy as possible. On my most recent move the guys even gave me a frozen water bottle- it might not sound like much, but I felt like they were looking after my things and me during the move. Next day, NOTHING. No message, NO Call, No reaching out. GHOSTED. Still calling 2 days later and nothing. They also strove hard to gain our business even giving us an awesome rate. In the end the move took longer than thought and they had more people come out, but maybe we moved more stuff too. Everything was handled very smoothly, and they take credit debit and e-transfer which is awesome. They also packed for us the day before which helped tremendously.

Meredith (owner) was not only immediately responsive to my inquiry, he was able to schedule the move quickly. My mother had been in hospital, and it was clear that she could not go back to living alone in her own home (age 97!). We found a fabulous option for her, where she could have all of her own furniture. My brother insisted on moving her bedroom on his own so she could be checked out of the hospital faster. I BEGGED him to let me hire professional movers (and pay for it) and he got angry and insisted on doing it himself. So on top of moving my mother's stuff, I had to ask Meredith to now take two pieces of furniture (that my brother damaged beyond belief in his DIY move efforts) to a furniture repair location - which he happily accommodated. Jim is prompt, reliable, polite, efficient, kind, good humoured and just great to work with - AND his pricing is very reasonable.

I carefully researched them and found some people who actually hired them and were very happy with their service. I called the number on the flyer and James called me back within a few hours. We arranged for him to visit my Dad's place to assess the effort and costs. I've already spoken to 3 other reputable local movers so I had a ballpark idea of how much it could cost. James provided my Dad with a written estimate and texted me the information. It was very reasonable and I decided to hire them. I also considered renting their reusable plastic moving containers but I decided not to use them eventhough that's a great idea. On the day of the move, the 3 guys (Shawn, Sean and Jeff) arrived on time and were very friendly, professional, respectful and, efficient. I can tell they had a lot of experience as they were very good at figuring out angles to move out certain furnitures in my Dad's awkwardly designed townhouse and using the 2nd floor balcony (and lined the balcony railing first) to move in bigger items into the new house instead of negotiating the narrow stairs. They took very good care of my Dad's stuff; even wrapped certain furnitures in cling and blankets. There were no surprises in the billing and I was able to pay for the move by credit card right after the job was done. I have recommended their service to my brother who is also moving soon.
