When we were poking around looking for breweries in the area on Yelp we came across The Shady Llama! This place doesn't make their own beer but they have lots of guest taps for breweries in the surrounding area. It's a good variety of beers to choose from and it looks like there is at least one food truck available sometimes in case you get hungry. The main draw for why we came here was to see the llamas and indeed we dis see some. One of them gave us some attitude and then sauntered off down a hill, taking it's less moody companion with it. They were funny and with the attitude I got and the name of the place I posted the Eminem song "My Name Is" where the lyrics "Slim Shady" get mentioned on Instagram because I thought it was all quite fitting. In addition to seeing the llamas we saw a great view of Hill Country. There was a lot of seating when we were here and could pick pretty much anywhere we wanted to sit. But I'm sure the place can get busy... the location and those llamas are reason enough. Cold beer, moody llamas and beautiful Hill Country... definitely worth the stop!

The beer here though, is very, very old school. It wasn't technically deficient in any way, but I found all the beer to be pretty bland. If you're not into IPA's though, that might be a good thing. There was only one IPA on tap and it was lot like an amber ale with a very sweet caramel malt quality to it. I also felt like the prices were pretty high compared to other SATX breweries. If you don't like hops and like maltier beers and/or you're into Jazz, it's definitely worth a shot.

The mushroom on our Verde pizza were slim pickings and the advertised arugula was swapped for lettuce. They're not the same leafy green, and we noticed. Had there been more toppings, and had they been the correct ones, this could have been a nearly perfect pizza. Other than that, the beer is cheap and they have pasta dishes I'd like to try in the future. The place is also still under construction, even though the dining room with its high dark ceilings, fans and (too) many TVs is ready to receive diners.
