When I called, I specifically asked for pricing information for X-rays related to a chipped tooth. I was told that the X-rays and evaluation were free, so we scheduled an appointment. However, when we checked in, we were informed that we had to pay $160 for the X-rays and evaluation, and that only orthodontic (braces) consultations were free. This felt like false advertising, so we decided to leave. Perhaps this was a marketing strategy to encourage people to book appointments, or the advertising may simply be misleading. Called to get relief for a toothache and was told that they would be able to help in 4 hours when they had an appt. Spent several hours at the office after which I was told that they would only be doing X-rays and consult. I called for an emergency appt and went home with my original pain and an appointment for 9 days later. I was assured that if I paid upfront I would arrive and slide right in. I have already been in office for 25 minutes! They repeatedly said you'll be done in 45minutes to an hour but that impossible if I am in the lobby for the first hour. What the hell!? I came in last Saturday with a chipped crown. The level of treatment and service I received was unmatched and beyond 5/5 stars! Julie brought me back took my x-rays and was very friendly and welcoming. She introduced me to Dr. Lu who would do my dental exam. Dr. Lu was awesome as well he quickly let me know that he would take care of it and in no time I was feeling 100% better and on my way. Was nervous to go to a tent it's for fear that i would be judged by the dentist or someone. But i got the courage to go to a dentist and when they were checking my teeth the dentist was judgmental and made my fear of being judged for my teeth come true. I will not be coming back and do not recommend this place for anyone in my opinion. If I could give zero stars I would. First of all Jenny the lady that works in the front does not know how to do her job yet. She was supposed to submit x-rays for crowns for post op root canals, but she kept submitting the wrong ones. When I asked her about it, she said she submitted it, but it was denied that was a lie. I called Dentical and again the wrong x-rays were submitted. This went on for three months. I then spoke to the office manager who was going to personally take care of it but when I called back to check on the status, she was moved to another office probably because she was trying to get this one to follow proper procedure. There is no procedure that they follow. If your appointment is for an exam and cleaning they will call you to the back and then ask you to come back in two hours after doing no work because they're going to lunch if you decline to come back in two hours, they will reschedule you this happened to me three times. After filing a complaint with corporate, I was dropped as a patient from their office without written notice, which is illegal per dentical. Do not go to Western dental please I recently went to a different dentist, and I almost cried because they treated me like a human being and actually did what they promised they would do western dental, especially the one in Madera treat you like cattle. The ladies in the front do not want to work and everybody there makes excuses for each other. It is the worst customer service experience I have ever seen. Coming to the Western dental office on Cleveland Ave in Madera Ca was a different experience than other previous dental visits, I have to say the professionalism here is at it's best! There was one lady Named Julie who stands out ! Update at the bottom. Was told information my usual dentist didn't bother informing me about. But have been waiting over an hour in the dentist chair waiting to be seen after having already had to wait an hour to be seen for my ortho appointment. Had to call work to say I can't make it even though I scheduled the dentist appointment hours before my work. UPDATE: Spent 2 HOURS sitting in the dentist chair watching as people who came in after me were seen BEFORE me. Was told that since my tooth only has sensitivity problems (a baby tooth that never had an adult tooth come under it and is rotted) that he wouldn't do anything about it till it was infected or came out on it's own. Then they were insistent on scheduling me a teeth cleaning and appointment for fillings for the teeth I JUST had fillings done on at my usual dentist (completely different company) because "they were done horribly). They seemed genuinely surprised when I told them not to schedule the appointment and I'll happily stay with my current dentist that doesn't take 2 hours to get to a patient paying for their services. read more

My significant other and I were supposed to be seen at 2pm. He wasn't seen or treated until four. There was what I hope to be dentist doing the job of the dental hygienist....I personally was treated by the dental hygienist and he told me he's the only hygienist on duty and at that western dental. I don't understand why you have staff members doing the work of other staff members. It's very unprofessional. On top of the two hour wait, my bf had absolutely none of his fillings done. That was the whole reason we came in and they told us they would do the cleaning first and then proceeding with the fillings...well they did the cleaning and refused to do his MUCH NEEDED fillings because "he had too many other patients". It's ridiculous that you have professionals working on people's body's and can't even keep their word. Also, I will share with you that my significant other was checked in and according to a dental assistant he was "accidentally" checked out. She even used air quotes in real life. That is comical that your front staff does not even know how to correctly place patients in your system. I also question the level of cleanliness that is kept around the office. I have pictures of equipment negligently left on the ground and do they even wipe down the chairs or anything between patients? No, they do not. I was in there for several hours today and saw nothing of the sort. They didn't change the water piece that goes into the patience mouth when they were done using it on my bf and he bled on it because the man who was not the dental hygienist cut him. 0/10 would not recommend. I haven't been to the dentist for about 20 years. I came with intent to acquire information, education, assistance, continuous maintenance and upkeep with dental hygiene. I'm a new father and plan to become a good role for my kid as they grow older. I made an appointment for some general cleaning and additional services with my insurance, I also sought out a consultation for braces. Knowing I had a lot of catching up to do with very apparent fillings required, cavities, gum treatment, and general cleaning, I was prepared to welcome all criticisms and expertise on what was observed. After some analyzing, they recommended braces. I primarily and strongly desired to get my teeth cleaned and fillings taken care of. I agreed with the braces idea, however I did not expect the acceleration and pressure of this procedure. "Anticipate 18 months but maybe less!" With no discussion other than that, saying "okay so we doing that today? and I'll get you our promotion today!" I didn't have time to think or contemplate what was to come. With X Rays, inspections with notable mentions of the fillings, cavities, and crowding, the priority to them was the braces and contracts signed. The pressure was more and more evident. I figured with what I truly came there for, maybe after the cleaning and fillings I might be satisfied with just that and revisit the braces possibility. In addition, my fiancée needed my help with our daughter and required me to get home and stay while she goes to work. During the lunch break I called in to reschedule. The person on the phone (I believe Julie or Julia) said "hey we have it arranged for you @2! Remember I got you that promotion and I won't be here tomorrow, you can bring your daughter!" Mind you my daughter is 2 years old. I said I really can't do that, but I will come back. She said "Just bring her, it's fine!" Even my fiancee, which I shoulda've listened to, was very curious why the same day? Why are they pushing so hard? Pressure and pressure was added to the situation that I asked my in-laws to watch her while I appease their schedule. Contracts shows 200$ a month for 30 months! (Not 18). No wires applied, just the brackets. My appointment was at 9AM, and I was there ALL DAY until 4! Not a spec of cleaning, or anything I asked for! Adding to what was already sketchy and fully taking advantage of a incredibly new patient. We had a family pass away Sept 30, and I have to take charge, a utilize our savings for the funeral and take some time off to console my fiancée and mourn. My next appt was today 10/03, less than a week since that appt, I mentioned and emotionally articulated my situation and asked to take off the braces because of my unfortunate circumstances and need to take care of my family. I cannot afford this at the moment. I was hoping they would understand considering brackets were only applied and no wires were implemented. No remorse! No sympathy! Not a "sorry to hear that" or "sorry for your loss" and 4 EMPLOYEES HEARD THIS! and all they could say was "Just letting you know there will be fees! Audits! No refunds! You signed a contract!" No sense of emotion for their patients! Attempting to make me wait 30 days for removal! I figured the more time I gave them, the more they would justify fees and charges! When I called for my first appointment, I was seen less than a week and braces applied the same day! However making me wait 30 days to remove ineffective braces!? Repetitiously mentioning money I was going to pay for, after what was only supposed to be for cleaning and just being inconsiderate to a patient that has NOT BEEN TO A DENTIST FOR TWENTY YEARS!! This is NOT ok! I wish i read the reviews prior to this as I am seeing a pattern of bad behavior! They clearly just want money and have no respect for their patients. I am incredibly traumatized and visually bothered with hands shaking to their lack of empathy! Something needs to be done, I'm not letting this go! read more

I got an appointment over the phone on January 6 2022, then when we got here the receptionist said its for kids only no adult for this day so my daughter got the chance to do her cleaning since her appt time is 2:30pm and mine is 3pm. So once my daughter is done, what they did is they do xray for my teeth then schedule me on January 15. Which is today at 12noon. So when i arrive to the clinic the receptionist told me that its their lunch time. So i need to wait and be back at 12:30 so i said ok then i ask her, how come u guys gave a time schedule yet ita not available? How u missed it? I mean how come they dont know their schedule and giving someone the time yet its not available! So i was so disappointed and remain calm . I guess i dont have a choice so i wait. Then at 12:30 i check in again the receptionist only ask my date of birth and id and let me sit and wait till they call me, so i assume all is ok and 3 people already there. So i wait till they call my name at around 1:40pm so im kind of pissed off already since i been waiting for so long and the 2 person who came after me been called already and its make me more pissed off because they wasted my time already! So its my turn! Then waiting again inside maybe around 3-5mins then the Dr. came. After he check m teeth he do some recommendation and the assistant talk to me and explain what is needed. So she said i need a deep cleaning and 2 filling and 2 implant. And i wash shock since the implant doesnt recommend by my previous dentist in bay area. So i ask her for now lets do the cleaning and filling. So i ask how much! And i was shock! when she told me for that i need to pay $1000+ and was like what? So i ask her again why it cost that much? She said ohhh because u need to purchase the gum kit treatment recommended by the dentist that is cost $900 and i was like what??? Im not gonna avail that for now i said so how much if only deepcling only! So she answered me back again that if deep cleaning only i have to pay $680 if it is with filling its $780 and now i was like I have insurance right? why would i pay that much? So she explain that they don't contact my insurance so i need to pay that! And i replied! How come u guys dont contact it? I was here january 6 and u have all the time to verify it then u give me that answer and waited about 2hrs here for nothing? She just said they contact it on monday and they will reschedule me! I just cant believed how they handle their customer! Really terrible and poor service! I never experienced it before only to this place! Never again! I can tell how frustrated the other customer in their waiting like i do! Why would u give the time schedule and yet let you wait for couple hours or more? This place is awful. Where should I start? The wait took hours. Then I was seated and seen by a very rude doctor. I had a cavity and she filled it. And that's where it all started. The filling fell out a couple of months later. At first, they told me there was nothing they could do. Then I got a phone call back and was told to come in. I went in and the dentist replaced the filling. A couple of months passed, and I had moved, and I went in for my annual check up. My new dentist came back and told me I had a cavity underneath the filling that Western Dental had replaced. The cavity had progressed and has turned into me having to spend $1000 dollars on a root canal. People, stay away from this place. Their prices are alluring but you get what you pay for. They pulled all 4 of his wisdom teeth with out any anesthesia at all, and they claimed, "they never put anyone to sleep, or give gas", WHICH IS A LIE! We asked for an estimate as we don't have dental insurance, she said that it would cost up to $750 but we could apply for their credit plan. I looked at the interest rates 14.5% or there about. I said no thanks and hung up. After an exhaustive search for another dentist, I went back to western dental as I had spotted on their website free exam and xray offer. I called them back and this time I got a really nice operator. I asked him for a quote, he came back and said, including the free xray and exam, the price would be around $500. When I first came to Western Dental I waited an hour to be seen. I figured it was because they seemed very busy, so I brushed it off. My next two appointments I was still waiting at least an hour to be seen. But on one appointment I waited an hour and was told I would have to wait ANOTHER hour to be seen. The service looked professional. But they told me i needed 18 filling and 3 root canals. My insurance didnt cover it and i had no money to pay. They offered a payment plan that i still couldnt afford 780$+. They also saw my daughter that day and since she had denti-cal they gave her 7 crowns. I was surprised. I brush her teeth myself at night and my wife brushes her teeth in the morning. 7 months down the line i go to a different dentist that was closer. This new dentist proceeds to show my x rays. "You are fine not a single cavity, you just have tartar buildup forming around your bottom crowding teeth". I asked him about the many cavities western dental said i had but i never got treated. He told me my teeth are perfect except the tartar. So he scheduled a cleaning for me which is covered by my insurance. I will never go back to western dental ever again! Always get a second opinion. My new dentist also told me 7 crowns for teeth that look like they are going to fall out soon for a 6 year old its beyond excessive. He admitted that crowns were done really good but was not needed.
