The average wait time here is a minimum of four hours, and that's with an appointment. They don't bother to let patients know if they are short staffed when confirming your appointment, they don't call if your appointment has been canceled. Literally drove here from another town, just to find a locked building and barely a supervisor on the phone from another clinic just to tell me- yeah sorry they had to close. Please listen when I tell you that this place is a literal waste of time and money. Complete scam! I was seen earlier in 2025 and that appointment went... so-so. There were long wait times and I wasn't that happy with the work done on my teeth. Unfortunately, this is the ONLY place in Redding that takes my insurance. I scheduled my follow-up appointment well in advance, for them to cancel on me the day before! Rescheduled and waited over a month... got cancelled on AGAIN! When I finally got in at the end of December, which was the last chance I had before I was cancelling the insurance, I sat in the cold exam room for 2 hours with no one acknowledging me or updating me. When I finally had had enough and needed to leave for work, I left the room and attempted to speak with the women at the checkout counter. She was on a call, so I waited patiently. Instead of acknowledging me with a look or a smile or literally anything, she finished her call, completely ignored me and just picked up another call. I walked out after cancelling my appointment with the check-in employee. The WORST service I have ever received! I honestly don't care about your excuse of only having one dentist and that he does everything, including the cleanings. Not only is that an inefficient business decision, but it completely disrespects your patients' time and needs. Don't schedule patients if you can't see them and staff your clinic properly. Had an appointment scheduled for over a month then when get here, they aren't even sure if my insurance will work. Something that should have been Taken care of before scheduling an appointment. Then after they made sure my insurance will work I sat in waiting room for over an hour watching half dozen people get called back. Mind you I was first appointment of day at 8am. The worst dental office I've ever been to. Lack of front desk help. Patients comments in waiting room all negative. Very long wait times 4-5 hrs according to existing patients. Not very aesthetically appealing. The dentist was very unpleasant with absolutely horrible bedside manner and appeared to lack the experience to pull a tooth that 2 other tertiary university dentists said could be pulled without damaging the existing bridge. Had an appt to have 2 tiny cavities done. The dentist was constantly being g interrupted every 5 minutes by the girls in the office with questions. He had just frilled holes for the cavities and was interrupted again. He turned light off and said rest for a bit and left me. He returns and finishes me up. Water hose was leaking so my hole arm was wet, shirt and shorts. I mentioned it and was told it does that sometimes lol...perhaps you should have it looked at. That night I go to floss and can't get floss out...It was very hard and wasn't sanded down properly! I called to nake another appt to get it fixed...showed up and was told no appt was made..I repeated to her 4 times and was told I was being g hostile! Poor communication and service. Scheduled appointment a number of months ago and received confirmation about my appointment via email and text message and even filled out new patient paperwork. When I showed up for my appointment after dropping my baby off, I was told that a voicemail was left, which it never was on my machine and that it was rescheduled for five months from now even though no one talk to me and it definitely wasn't my number. Quick Summary: This place is a mill, nothing more, nothing less. Look for a better dentist office if you have the option. My expectations were already low... and my experience rated even lower. While my 8am appt should have got me in/out quickly... it didn't. After 30min of sitting in the chair the cleaning was rushed thru and felt like they cleaned 75% of my teeth. Apt was at 10am. Finally called back at 1:30pm. I absolutely would have left but I had tooth pain that needed seen. I will say the front staff & X-ray tech & dentist in training were VERY kind. When the actual dentist came in she literally looked at my X-rays & teeth 2 minutes told me rudely I'm fine & left the new dentist to upsell me on products. For them to deserve even 1 star, they need to improve a lot. You have to wait at least 3 hours to be seen there. Ann Malotky was rude to us and her staff. She performed un-necessary x-rays and casts and stated my teeth were not worth saving. Her office filed our insurance incorrectly twice, stating we had another insurance company. Wrong! Then after I cleared up the insurance issue her office would not re-fund me. I did end up getting another dentist and my teeth were in good shape, only had 2 surface cavities which I had my new dentist repair. I went to Western Dental a few years ago, and again today out of pure necessity. They lost my x-ray records immediately after performing them the first time I was there and had to re-take them, which really hurt my mouth. I also waited for over an hour and a half on a table for my cleaning that I never received which was the whole reason for the scheduled appointment. Today, I got there for my appointment, filled out the paperwork, and then after waiting for half an hour was told that the dentist had an emergency and that the x-ray tech was about to go home for the day so they were not able to take me back to perform any work. Another woman they were also turning away said this sort of thing happens every time she's in and she's never gotten a successful appointment from them. I waited two months for this appointment and was rescheduled but will not be returning. The people at the front desk have been nice, but that's the absolute only positive thing I can say. My care was good. The problem I have is the waiting. You arrive on time for your appointment and wait at least 20 to 30 minutes to be called back. Then you sit and wait usually another 20 to 30 minutes if not more to be seen. It's difficult to lose so much time, especially if you have to get to work or have other things to take care of. Do they over book their appointments? Do they need more than one Dentist working at a time to accommodate the patient flow? No one likes to have their time wasted. read more

I must say I am so angry with western dental in redding, ca. I have 2 daughters, one of which has had a horrible tooth ache and had not slept in 3 days and when I took them to their appointments which I had made 4 months prior they were turned away because I didn't have their medical cards in hand, they refused to look them up in the system and tagged them as no shows. The red head at the front desk was very rude and unprofessional. Mind you I drove over 100 miles to be their. I was waiting on the medical cards in the mail and the medical worker even said that putting their ssn in would work. This place is not worth wasting your time to play phone tags with them.. We recently moved back to Shasta County in the summer of 2023. We looked for a Dental facility for our teenage son and thought about Western Dental. Because we saw commercials in the past raving about how good they were.Also saw a facility near the Food Maxx shopping center in Redding. I called to schedule him for the first appointment around March 2024. Appointment was set for May 3rd.. A few days before the appointment, I got a call from them saying they have a Corporate meeting on May 3rd and have to re-schedule his appointment to July 30th @1pm.. we were very dissapointed, but had toaccept it because it would be harder to look for another facility and get him scheduled in.. So, today July 30th @8:30am I got a call from Western Dental saying they are under staffed and have to re-schedule our son again to October 3rd!! So dissapointed againand tired of the delays and the run around...I just called a different Dentist office in the area and got an appointment within the next 2 weeks. I don't know what is going on with Western Dental? Management please take notes before you lose more business and end up shutting your doors!! Back in August, (2019/ I tried to get an appointment. I was told that they were not taking any business because of the pandemic. Finally in December, I made an appointment for February 10, at 10:00. I was on there time and told I didn't have an appointment. I was then rescheduled for MAY 1. TWO DAYS LATER I received a text message that I MISSED my appointment. Would I like to reschedule.? I call the number provided and explained what happened. I was offered an appointment for MAY 4! THREE DAYS LATER?!?!? Jump to April 2022. I was finally able to get an appointment in late March where I had one tooth filled and was told I needed a root canal. Scheduled for April 22 for this procedure. I went in, x-rays were taken and then I was told they did not perform root canals at that location. I was given an 800 number to find someone who did and was covered by my insurance (Medicare and Medical) Useless! Out of town travel made this impossible. Then to add insult to injury I was given an appointment for a cleaning in June. My tooth is rotting and they don't give a damn. It is my considered opinion that Western Dental is incapable of finding their ass with both hands. read more

Honestly after hearing people I know/reviews I don't think they deserve even one star. I had an appointment for a cleaning today after being pushed out 3 months. I was waiting over an hour and a half to be called back. I started asking around how long the people next to me had been waiting (waiting room was full) every person I had asked said that they had been there waiting for at least 1hr-2.5hrs and were obviously not happy about it. After hearing everyone's responses I got up and left. I lost hope and was afraid I would be late for work at that point. Before leaving I walked up to the receptionist who was on the phone. I waited a few minutes for her to get off the phone and maybe try to schedule another appointment. She didn't make eye contact or acknowledge me waiting. So after waiting a few minutes I turned around and walked out. I do not recommend western dental. read more

Made an appointment for early morning. Still waiting after over an hour to get the procedure they insisted on. They don't communicate well. They leave you sitting and ignored. NOT HAPPY.
