I had a problem with cockroaches in my bedroom and I was decided to call up Western Exterminator for the job. They were quick to respond and offer their price points. In a timely manner Ruben the exterminator arrived to help with the infestation. He was really friendly and explained everything he was going to do. The transparency is 100% there. After he was done he gave me the bill, it was on the higher end with the fees but I would say it's 100% worth it because of the customer service provided. read more

If you re getting your house sprayed for fleas, make sure you know that you have to be out of the house for four hours. I was not told this. I was also not told that my animals had to be out of the house for four hours and I have cats who really don't like to be outside. The technician was wonderful and patient but I have to say I'm disappointed with the customer service . I am disappointed that you are giving a five hour frame to wait around and then later when they come late, you have to be out of the house for four hours. There has to be a better way. Or at least come early & give us better choices of times , less waiting it's not at the last hour ! read more

Don't hire this company ever! Don't let them talk you into a full exclusion costing you thousands when the job won't be done right ever. They don't return calls, they don't honor contracts, all they do is take your money and screw you over. I paid for a full exclusion because I have roof rats and raccoons in my attic. They sent a guy out who didn't do a full job on my home, and then argued with me about my contract. Two more inspections latter and they send out a manager. That guy screwed a "one way" trap and mesh on my home- it didn't work. They never returned my calls. Worst company ever. read more

What a horrible company. Our service provider was perfectly nice, but the product the company uses for rat poison is supposed to be safe for dogs, and it turns out that dogs can get into the device. After paying this company several thousand dollars a year for 13 years, they were unwilling to credit us anything toward the $600 vet bill when we had to take the dog for treatment from opening the container. Fortunately, the dog survived, but you would think they would have bent over backwards to rectify the upsetting accident and keep us as customers. Nothing. We no longer use Western. In fact, the dog seems to keep the rats away--so get a dog instead of using an exterminator! read more

This is not about the Santa Maria office. This is about the company overall. If I could give negative stars I would. First thing they kept on telling me is that I owed them for service they never performed. In reality I had already paid them and check had cleared. It's still took months before they finally performed the service after not showing up multiple times when scheduled. Now the house has sold and I'm still waiting for the report. The house won't close without the report. We stand to lose hundreds of thousands dollars because of their ineptitude. We are considering an attorney and lawsuit now. We are at wits end with the crap service and a company that can't do anything right. read more

I am a Real Estate Agent and have had two horrible experiences with Western this year.. They have signed off on a termite clearance only to find out they never did the work.. The other time they said there was no termites and another company came out and found termites so Steve Adkins at Western came back out and said ohhh there are termites which ended up causing a lot of issues between buyer on seller one who was going to pay for this. I contacted the local company, Steve Adkins, district Manager and regional manager and no one would ever call me back or return any of my emails.. This is the worst Company out there. I have had continuously bad customer service experiences with this location. The first time I called Western for a termite problem (last year), they were booked 2 weeks out. We scheduled the appointment for 2 weeks out but I ended up having continuing issues with them and the whole process took from about February 7 to April 5 until a technician was able to be on-site. Once we got a technician there, he was great to work with and was named Dan Calloway. Fast forward to this year, I called them for another termite issue with a different tenant and received similarly poor customer service. I requested Dan Calloway but the lady I was talking to on the phone said he was no longer with the company. The office also had no availability for a week, so we scheduled it for the following week. Naturally, the technician they assigned to me ended up being a no-show. I called them to follow up and the lady who answered the phone this time said no appointment was ever put into their system and that Dan Calloway actually was still with their company. She said the manager would call me to talk to me personally and get this sorted out, and of course, no manager called me. Instead of trying to schedule it with them again, I decided to call Dead-On Termite. The technician for Dead-On Termite came out immediately and I had no problems with that company at all. Today (31 Dec 2019), I received a notice from my former property manager in Santa Maria. We sold our property and apparently we had overpaid $550.00 according to Western Exterminator of Santa Maria. Three stars for actually being able to get the job done and get the rodent problem under control when another company tried for three months and couldn't. Western was four times more expensive for the actual up front work, but the monthly service fees are cheaper and the problem is actually fixed, which was the major issue I cared about. On the pest issue I would use them again. Negative five stars for significant billing problems. First, they do not seem to be able to keep a credit card on file for auto billing. They also don't appear to be able to mark which invoices are paid or not. I continued to receive mailed invoices every month for the very significant upfront charges that had already processed on my credit card. This was extremely annoying--for as much money as I paid this is an admin problem I shouldn't have to waste my time on. I decided it wasn't worth the twenty minute call on my end that would have been required to fix it and figured they would fix it eventually on their own. Then two months later I received a nasty email threatening me with collections for a different invoice. It came from an email addresses that was NOT Western Exterminator (@jcehrlich.com) with no breakdown of the costs. It looked like spam, and seemed to have escalated really quickly, so I called the company directly to double check. It was doubly confusing to me because I am in monthly contact with my rep and he knew nothing about it when I called him. The woman I reached on the phone explained jcerhlich was the parent company of Western, which is fine but they should really indicate that on their mailings if that is the case. She said they had lost the credit card on file (which hadn't expired or been reissued by my credit card company) but that it was somehow on file with the local office and not the national office? She put me on hold and told me that since the local office had it she could reenter it in the system and it would be taken care of. I also had her fix the issue with the other invoices getting mailed all the time since we were already on the phone (and those did stop). Fast forward two months and I get another random angry gram from the same email address. Again, no contact from the local rep or office, no courtesy letter in the mail. No breakdown in what the charges are for or what the date was they were incurred just a lump sum and a demand for payment. At a minimum, I require any invoice I pay to have the services itemized by the date and amount for each service (this is pretty standard). I called the company. None of the three reps I spoke with could find the credit card on file, or even tell me what the last four digits of the card that was charged successfully was. They tried to find a manager and couldn't. They were able to provide what the charges were for and the dates incurred and after wasting 45 minutes on the phone with them and another thirty minutes going through my old credit card statements to verify what was and wasn't charged I just gave them the credit card again. Hopefully this time they won't lose it. It's beyond frustrating to pay as much money as I have to this company and have to spend so much of my own time doing what I consider to be their accounting work. It also seems like they should have just mailed me a courtesy notice stating that they no longer had my credit card information on file, and asking me to please contact them to provide updated information. My recommendations for Western would be to: 1) CLEARLY identify your company on any emails asking for payment 2) Consider changing the email your reps use to MATCH the company who they are collecting billing for. 3) ITEMIZE and include dates of service rather than just lumping charges into one incomprehensible lump sum. 4) Send a courtesy notice first alerting a customer to a potential billing issue, rather than sending something packaged as a collections notice in big red all caps font. THIS IS OUR FINAL COLLECTIONS NOTICE only makes sense if you have contacted me before. 5) Have your local rep communicate any issue with the customer and ask them to contact your national office. 6) Fix your auto pay system so this doesn't happen. The reps I spoke with seemed to indicate this was not an uncommon issue. I never write negative reviews, but it's frankly crazy to me how problematic billing through this company has been. None of my other vendors have these types of problems. And it's really soured me on using the company, which is unfortunate because they did such a good job otherwise. But to shell out that much money and have this many problems is doubly annoying. Also, if this much work is required for a updating a credit card on file, and this is how their company chooses to handle it as a general policy, it seems both really inefficient and like a major source of customer conflict that could be easily eliminated by implementing the basic protocols I suggested above. read more

This is out of character for me to write a review like this. But, I am beyond mad. And, hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. I called the 1-800 number for this company. They sent someone out to inspect my gopher problem on June 24th. He wrote up a work order (With the Santa Maria office), and said someone would be in touch. I explained it was time sensitive, my yard is getting tore up. No one called. July 2nd they took $185 out of my account, even though no one had called to even schedule an appointment , nor done any work! I called several times to get an appointment , or find out what was taking so long. The service guy, said to call him anytime. No return call. Nothing. Meanwhile, my yard is full of holes! Finally on July 8th I finally speak to a manager, who lies and says she had tried to call me. No! I checked they have the correct number. No vm, no calls. I have my phone on me at all times. I stated I wanted a refund, especially because no work had even been done, but also just the ridiculous , unprofessional lack of communication, had me over the edge. She said she would refund it on Monday the 8th. Today is July 16th. And, again I have called to find out the status of the refund, and when to expect it. I was told the same thing, we can't get ahold of the manager, we will have to have her call you back. Crazy! I feel totally scammed. Who takes money out, when service has not even been performed?! I'm in Santa Maria, not Rancho Suey. I had an appointment set for Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019, for a termite inspection. Steve called and cancelled because it was raining. He said they would get back to me within 24 hours to reschedule. It is now the following Wednesday, Feb. 6, and I called them. The earliest appointment was Feb. 15. I said no, thank you. Three other companies have shown up as promised. This company was recommended by a realtor friend. You can be sure I'm going to let her know about my experience with Western Exterminator. I had a big problem with dry rot on the front of the house. The fascia needed to be replaced along with some posts and railing. Also had the same problem on a stretch of fascia on one side. The guys from Western came out and replaced it all. It was a lot of work and they just got right to it. Excellent work and very professional. It was all done and painted in about a day and half. Only problem was that it took a month between estimate and work done. That could be average but I'm impatient! I'm learning how busy contractors are in my area so not a con for Western. Western treats you like family. We've used them for almost 4 years now and we will never switch! The best part is you get the same service person every time. You get to know them and they honestly are like family. They are professionals who have dropped everything to come kill a black widow when we weren't even due for service because my kids were freaking out lol. I'm writing this review specifically for our exterminator Greg. I am a college student and I live in a house close to campus with three other girls. Upon finding droppings and chewed up towels, we thought we had mice, so we called Western. Greg came to our house and discovered that we actually had rats. You can imagine how frustrating it can be to work with four girls freaking out when hearing this, but Greg worked with us really well. I really appreciated how he explained exactly where he thought the rat was coming from and where it was going. It gave me peace of mind having an explanation. Greg set up traps around our house and gave us his cell phone number and said we could call him when we saw a trapped rat and he would come get it (during working hours). While we were waiting for rats to be trapped, Greg also called me and said, "I've been thinking about your house and I'm pretty sure the rat is entering through the bedroom." It meant a lot that Greg was thinking about how to best help us. Greg also responded quickly and returned calls promptly, which I appreciated because I felt he understood how we wanted to get this over with as quickly as possible. Probably some of the best customer service I have received from anywhere- Greg helped ease the stress of having rats in the house by A LOT! tl;dr: If you have a pest problem, call Greg! This contractor did a pest inspection of our condo and unfortunately there was damage to some property in our garage during their time there unsupervised. We contacted the management, spoke with two people who said they would look into it and then never called back. The damage was minimal and we tried to be cool about it, but I just think people should know. read more

I was able to schedule an appointment within a couple of days of contacting Western Exterminator. The termite inspector was prompt, knowledgeable and informative. The termite inspection was free of charge. Recommendations were made to prevent subterranean termites, which is a problem in this area due to many dead trees lying around in the forest. I was elated to find I did not have termites, and I was encouraged to get a subterranean termite preventive service with a 5 year warranty. I now have a bimonthly service for ants, spiders, earwigs. The technician is reliable, courteous, arrives at the appointed time and does good work. I am very pleased with this company and the service it provides. read more

Can I give them no stars! Worst experience in 10 years. Due to poor workmanship, my fumigation tenting came off, and was displaced for an additional 2 days. Workers left my refrigerator door open, and all the food spoiled. Window screens torn, and never repaired. Workers left lunch bags, trash, discarded food all over my yard. Called the company 5 times, not ONCE did anyone call back. Would not recommend this company. read more
