This was my first stay at a Moxy Hotel. I have always wanted to stay at one and I finally did it!…read more Just as I was told by family and friends, upon entry there is loud music playing to get you hyped up about your visit. Check in is at the bar, no stuffy hostess station. So check in your room and order a drink at the same time! At this particular location, trying to bring your luggage in could be a challenge as there is no parking on site. There is a parking garage down the street. You can pay $25 for overnight or $35 for in and out access. That said, you have to double park, run your bags in, then drive down the street to park, so that's kind of odd. Also no valet if you are like me and used to that at hotels. The rooms are small. Kind of remind me of "tiny house" living. So don't come in with a whole lot of stuff, there isn't a ton of room but you have everything that you need. Also if you need an iron/ironing board, they have one on each floor near the elevators because there is really no room in your hotel room to have them. On Friday night the hotel has a DJ in the lobby! LOVE LOVE LOVE that! He would even take requests. You can dance down there and chat with other people just a lot of fun and bonus the bar doesn't close until 1am! There is also food you can buy (tacos) so when you are coming in late no worries food is there! Nice touch. Really enjoyed the hotel and looking forward to trying other Moxy's in other cities!

I was a bit out off by the limited base hours. It's Louisville. Should've the bar open before 5pm on a Sunday? She explained that the bar is separate from check in and the kitchen or something, and they couldn't justify bringing in a bartender. Just makes no sense. How somebody that can check people in and pour drinks. It wasn't that just. The good ... Location. Convenient to Yum Center, downtown bars and restaurants, Roots 101 (super recommend this), and the Muhammad Ali Center (further but walkable). The bad ... The rooms. The rooms are tiny. Not much room for more than the bed, shower, and restroom. You definitely don't want to have 2 people. There's no place to lounge at all. My housekeeper didn't come a couple days I was there. My bed was never made up. But, I did come back to some fresh towels. We only stayed here because a group of us came from California for the Cal-Louisville game. Had I known the rooms were this small, I would have stayed elsewhere. But, I understand that this is their "thing," so I can't fault the hotel. If you're looking to save a little and don't mind a small room, this is a good spot. But, is your tastes are more for a larger room, stay away.

Going into my trip, I was a bit irritated with the…read morehotel because they wouldn't let me modify my reservation to a group rate even though the rest of our team did. We got in late on a Friday night and could quickly tell there were a couple events being held. We were tired (close to midnight) but check in was a breeze. Staff very friendly. We picked self park. I drive an SUV and the low clearance was rather frightening but worked out just fine. Room was spacious, but the AC didn't work well at night. The view was beautiful. Amenity options for food and drink were great. Location was perfect. The only negative was an event being held resulted in fireworks at midnight. We had to be up at 5:30 the next morning so it was a bit much. (Gosh I sound old). Overall, I'd stay here again and again.

The hotel could have been a 4 or 5 but:…read more The TV set had no external connections, and not even a headphone jack, so there was no way to attach any of my hearing assistive devices. (I have stayed in over 50 hotels and this is the only one I have EVER encountered that had TVs with no available external connections.) Not only that, but the TV channel guide is incorrect. Like Channel 39 should have been COZI but came up as BRAVO. And several channels came up as unavailable. So not only couldn't I hear the TV, but I couldn't find the programs I wanted to watch, even with closed captions. When I arrived, the A/C was set at 66. The wall A/C - heater was efficient though and warmed up the room quickly (although it took a while to warm the shower area). And when I arrived and found the light switch, it turned on a dim night-light luminescent panel near the door. I had to feel around the room to find a lamp, and then feel around some more to find the switch. And there were only 2 lamps in the room near the beds, so working at the desk was nearly impossible after dark. Many of the aforementioned hotels welcome their guests with a free bottle or 2 of water. The Galt welcomes them with a $7 bottle of Smart Water which costs around $2.50 in stores. I couldn't find a luggage rack. All the other positive things others have mentioned are reasonably accurate, but I didn't use it's dining establishments. But the cold, dark, room welcoming me, and pretty much useless TV, and hardly any lighting were a disappointment. I've been in 2-Star hotels which were better.

We booked thru a third party for an executive suite 1 BR. We arrived later and the Fairfield front desk isn't open, everything thru the Springhills side. We realized the room they gave us was a regular king. I went to the front desk to inquire and the front desk guy was like, there's no such room, it doesn't exist. I was like, I'm on the Marriot website and they do have the executive suite and I booked it and showed him my confirmation with the words "executive suite 1BR". He was like it's the regular king you booked, Fairfield doesn't have any suites and I have never seen that website. (It's Marriott.com btw). I showed him the pictures on the website. He still didn't believe me and after just said come back in the morning to speak with the manager. I came back and spoke with Nikki instead. She was amazing. She said yes, we do have that room but they are all under construction and someone should have emailed us. I told her about the front desk guy from last night and she said he should know better because he's been with the company for 10 years! She tried to compensate us for the room we should have gotten but couldn't because we booked thru a third party. She let us pick some items from their market instead. She seems to know her information and was really helpful and great. Rooms: old, dirty and uncomfortable. Bad decor with bright ugly colors. The bed was really lumpy and soft. He room was either super warm or cold. At least we know both extremes were working. Carpet was stained and so was the shower. Older room for sure. Had a mini fridge and microwave. Our bolt lock was broken. Also had key issues. Breakfast: space eggs (fake) eggs, sausage Links or patties, fresh fruit, cereal, hard croissant, yogurt, hard boil eggs. No waffle machines. Pretty decent besides the space scramble eggs. Sat/Sun opens 7-10, weekdays 6:30-9:30. If you're looking to save some money but expect what you pay for, low quality rooms and inconsistent service.

DO NOT SUPPORT LOST RIVER HOSTEL OR THE OWNER SCOTT WHEELER!…read more Eight years ago, at 19, I volunteered at Lost River Hostel for housing and food and was isolated under the owner, Scott Wheeler, then 39. What seemed like a free-spirited work-trade became sexu@l exploit@tion, m@nipulation, and r@pe, where I felt unable to say no without losing my place to live and was pressured into s3x while similar behavior occurred toward other young women. I later confirmed this pattern continued, and I am sharing so others stay safe. Do not support Lost River Hostel or Scott Wheeler.

Bathroom had a faint smell of smoke when I checked in and I didn't want to be blamed for it. Tried to send a message about that also to no avail.
