Being a road warrior who spends a lot of time in Marriott, Hilton, and InterContinental properties, I was a little apprehensive about what I might find in a Best Western in a small Alabama town. I had nothing to worry about... this was a great place... on par with some Holiday Inn's and Hampton Inn's I've stayed in. The front desk staff was very friendly and always willing to help (with directions, questions, etc). Every interaction was with a smile on their face. When I checked in, I met Miss Nettie, who also cooks the breakfast. While she was processing my credit card, she told me all about the breakfast, which includes cereal, pancakes, waffles, biscuits, sausage, eggs, muffins, coffee and juice. She also cooks omelets (and she makes your pancakes and waffles to order, the rest of the stuff is laid-out buffet style). During the week, they also advertise "breakfast in bed", where they will bring your choice of two fixed meals (a cold breakfast or a hot breakfast) to your room. Miss Nettie got us checked in to a very nice spacious king suite, complete with a refrigerator and freezer built into a little wet bar area. There was a good sized writing desk that two people could work at and a pull out sofa. The king size bed was comfortable and the bathroom was arranged so that the sink area is separate from the tub/shower and toilet. The room came with a wall-mounted flat panel TV and a "freshly cleaned remote" wrapped in it's own little bag was laid on the bed each day. The room looked and smelled nice and clean. Housekeeping did a great job each day making sure our room looked great and that we had plenty of towels. The property also has a nice pool and two computer "business center" areas. One downstairs in the lobby, and the other is upstairs on the opposite end of the building. While I didn't need to use them (I brought my own laptop and used the free Wifi), it was nice to know that they were available. While I was checking out, Miss Nettie was leaving for the day after cooking the breakfast and she stopped to shake my hand and say good-bye to me and another guest who was also checking out. She wished us safe travels and asked us to come back soon. It's this level of southern hospitality combined with their nicely outfitted, clean rooms that will bring me back the next time I'm in Demopolis... whenever that might be.

One of the prettiest campgrounds I've stayed in. Folks are friendly and the Campground is well…read morekept up. Easy access to the lake and hiking trail. There is a boat launch for the lake and many sites have landing access for their fishing boats. Two playgrounds for the kids, a clean shower room and laundry. Electricity and water only but a convenient dump in the park. Good internet access. We were here at the end of January when the weather was in the 60's and 70's and mostly sunny. The park is not crowded though busier closer to the weekend. We will be back!

Pretty much a basic rest area located on Interstate 20 that has the usual rest stop amenities and…read morevending machines. The rest area is well maintained and the people here were friendly. All in all, a good place to stop and stretch your legs or whatever you have to do.

Officially the I-20 Eastbound Greene County Rest Area (Google again makes up a different name…read moreentirely) and a separate location from its Westbound counterpart. this rest area is not too different from the rest of Alabama's interstate rest areas except for the parking lots layout; trucks up front cars around the other side... the spacious grounds and modest structures are well kept and tidy and a real live security officer is typically present if not always visible, might be doing rounds or some other official duty. nice place to stop for a nap from late fall to early spring before the heat and bugs settle in.

Very few campers so nearly had the whole place to ourselves. Felt very safe!! Not much to do in small towns but drive to Demopolis and get great bbq, mexican, walmart, tractir supply, etc!! Barges work the river which are fun to watch and fishing is good here!! Trails to walk and bike too!! Highly recommend this COE park!!

I'm on my way to Tejas for non-festival of lights activities but right now I'm at the Greene County Rest Area I-20 WB for "reasons" (Alabama State I-59 Rest Area on Google) even in the dark this place is alright. plenty of well lit parking and a security officer present as an active deterrent to potential riff raff; he directed me towards the men's room while I was taking pictures of the interior art work because I apparently look the part of a ruffian so good on them for acting instead of reacting. like most Alabama rest areas this place has a dump station and it's usually operative. otherwise this is just another place on a long list of similar places and unremarkable except for the dude keeping watch... Yea Dude!!
