We used to live across the street from Western Sunset Market and it was our go-to for wine, beer, firewood and random other things we needed. Kevin and family are so kind and when we went out of town for the holidays once, when we got back he gave us a hug because it had been so long! He helped me pick out medication for my sick husband one time, always gave me a peppermint patty with my purchase and was just the sweetest. We moved in 2018 and stopped in to say goodbye before we left, but he and his wife weren't there. Kevin and fam, if you read this, we miss you! 7 years after my first review and they STILL have the best kim chi around! I come here just for that. The woman behind the counter was so nice and told me she makes it with her mom. It's vegetarian (no fish) and fizzy and the perfect amount of spicy. I love it! Try it! read more

Went here quite sometime ago. I remember the friendly vibe I got when I came here. I remember a ton of sweets,sodas,chips,more snacks and other items. I also remember the beer selection and stronger alcohol selection's suggest if you catch the N and live nearby and want to make a quick stop to by something..come here. If you get the strong drinks be careful....because have you ever had the feeling you had played football the night before or rode on a very,very,very fast amusement park ride that never stopped. Decent selection of wines if you are looking for something a little more calming and relaxed. Love this store - I should mention I only go to them for alcohol and tissue paper. They put signs up during covid to limit customer purchases of tissue (save some for your neighbors)! Pretty good selection of wines here. Friendly shopowners. But the reason I am Yelping today is that they actually sell KIM CHI ! I have been curious for months since seeing their "We sell Kim Chi" sign. I thought.. this should be ok cause they are after all a Korean family run business. The man assured me it was genuine "My wife makes it". And it YES, it is genuine and pretty good. I should know, I am a Kim Chi fan. Now I'm thrilled to find an unlikely source of good home made Kim Chi at my local liquor store. I think I just found the best local grocer in the outer sunset area . I went in on a whim instead of the 7-11 across the street and what a treat! The storekeep was super friendly and the second thing that struck me was the huge selection of alcohol in stock (and I don't drink). I'm a transplanted East Coaster so I'm still shocked to death when I see liquor for sale at the pharmacy. They also have regular foods at honestly higher prices but how else do you stay in existence with a giant chain store right across the street? They also sell homemade kim-chi. Mmmm. . . The place is spotless and neatly organized. Support your local businesses especially the super nice ones. They have ten minutes of free parking for shoppers though there is plenty of street parking. They also accept credit cards with an eight dollar min. It's a nice stop before hitting the beach for a walk or whatever it is that people do at the beach. read more

I love this place and am so grateful it exists in my neighborhood! The owners are truly nice and wonderful people, the store is always clean, and you'll usually find what you're looking for. Wide selection of wines and very nice selection of beers, including every local beer you could ever want. No price tags: I read the other reviews, and warn the other customers to take a look for the price tags. When I went in for an ice cream bar, I had a very difficult time locating prices. When it was rung up, after some discussion in a foreign language the price was over $4.00. That same ice cream bar I could have bought across the street at 7-11 for $2.50. They obviously were taking advantage of me and decided to charge me more then they were supposed to. I will never go here again and suggest you never come here. My first trip in San Fran, my girlfriend and I couldn't resist walking into this little store, but we were wrong. It's more than a store, it's like a mini market. They sell so many random things there including a small selection of groceries that I imagine would be convenient to those who live close by. They also have awesome beanies there. It definitely is a convenience store with convenience store prices. Beyond that, they have a nice selection of wine. I come here pretty often to buy beer, and so I always wonder if they think I'm an alcoholic. I wouldn't want them to think that because they're SO DAMN NICE. Seriously, these are some honest, good people that own the place. Smart people go here instead of 7-11, unless you want a slurpee. Not only is it extremely conveniently located a block from my house and open late, they have all the basic needs and even some really random ones - need soap? floss? flour? assorted hardware? a random snack? a hat? kimchi? The sweetest people on earth run this store, which has everything you need. It has a counter with cold and flu remedies, aisles of soups and packaged foods, snacks, a lot of wine, and a huge selection of liquor behind the counter. They also carry Nat Sherman cigarettes. They also have a DELI and will make you a freak sandwich, but I love the Pieroskis, so I prefer to get those. Some frozen foods in the back, like Banquet foods, pizzas and burritos.Two big freezers of ice cream are at the front of the store near the ATM. A really nice family runs the store. And they put up with our crazy neighborhood. Some friends saw a few teens running out of the front door with big jugs of Gallo wine. They chased them for a ways, but didn't catch them. read more

This is our favorite neighborhood store. Mr. Kevin and Ann-Sue are the best! They have a decent selection of things you might need but don't want to drive all the way to a big grocery store for. They have an extensive and very well-priced beer selection, a decent selection of wines, a basic selection of not-too-perishable produce (lemons, bananas, onions, nothing leafy), and a quirky assortment of other items (hats, socks, sunglasses, etc).
