Canyon Market main entrance, seems to have construction going on.

I came into the store around 12:30 noon on Saturday April 19th. We were excited to enter the store because it was our first time. Atmosphere 10/10 Produce 10/10 Baked Goods 10/10 Deli 8/10 Service 1/10 Comment: The service was abhorrent. We were told at the delivery that the are able to do half orders of sandwiches. We ordered our two Sandwiches and took the slip to the cashier. First he was very nice until we mentioned that the sandwiches should be priced at an half order. He stated that they do not offer half sandwiches for sale. That is alright and fine , not an issue. The problem is when we told him that the delivery workers told us that was an option and we did not know he rolled his eyes and shrugged his shoulders as if "That is not my problem". He checked and came back and it was the same answer. I can care less that you do not offer half sandwiches, that is fine. However I do hold an issue with his attitude. I asked to meet with a manager and all of a sudden there isn't a manager or supervisor on duty which I find hard to believe. I don't live in the city but I'll tell you this I will not be back here ever again. Mind you we were a party of 15. You lost out on a lot of buisness today purely because of your poor service. The worker is also In one of the pictures below. Please fix this.

Sometimes you got to take a hike or a trek and enjoy some nature in the city. This isn't the Grand Canyon or Laurel Canyon but it's Glen Park Canyon and it's my habitat in San Francisco. Here you may run into a coyote as the trails leads to the Canyon Market. The Canyon Market which has been a San Francisco neighborhood staple in the Glen Park Village and has a little bit of everything. This place is the go to place for quality drinks and food. Although it is part of the Gus's portfolio of supermarkets in San Francisco it has that same neighborhood vibe. I enjoy shopping here because they have good items to pick up. When it comes to cheese and wine this place is well stocked for whatever you need for in the day time or at night time. They do have a great produce section and they do carry tasty desserts. They also offer food to go like the fried chicken dinner and salads and savory soups. The Canyon Market is a diamond mine on Diamond street. Keeping it consistent during it changes. When you are on the path on the Glen Park Canyon trail you might run into a coyote with their companion Make sure not to feed them but to continue on the path to then feed yourself at the Market ( not on Market street ) called The Canyon

Gus's community market, (formerly Canyon Market), has gone through a gentle transition over the past few years after changing ownership. A lot of the signage and familiar things remained the same initially, but in the past few months, a part of the former garage, storage area has been expanded to now include a top notch toiletry and medicine section (seriously they have everything!), the soup area is way less squished, the prepackaged salad area has lots more interesting choices, and even the wine/alcohol section has a brand-new look. It's kind of cool when you see a place turn over and get bigger and really better. Neighborhood grocery stores are the best! I know a lot of people think the prices are high, and for sure they are the prices of a smaller market with lots of organic choices. I did however do a price check on their "Evolution Organic Pure Orange Juice", and on the date of the check the juice was $15.49 at Molly Stones, $11.99 at Diamond Heights Safeway, and $10.99 at Canyon (Gus's) market! (The price at Gus's has recently been raised to $11.99) Still... The produce is gorgeous with conventional and organic choices, and there is an award-winning butcher on staff too! (Check out his trophies at the butcher section!) - FYI, I shop at all of the above markets for different things for the best prices and quality, this is just one example. There are some people who work here now that are not the friendliest, and there might be a tiny bit of former "Canyon Market magic" missing, as sometimes it feels like that. This is however a dynamic and expanded five-star market that is an appreciated contribution to the neighborhood.

This is a great store , well stocked, clean , and you can find unique and interesting products. Lots of chocolates. The produce looks very fresh and well managed. The fish looks very fresh and they a lot of different cuts of meat. It is a heaven for discriminating chefs. The staff looked shy though I went to different aisles but no one said hi or asked if I wanted anything. If only they were more welcoming then it would have been a solid 5.

I'm so surprised this spot doesn't have more reviews! My bf and I are often in the area and will swing by canyon market for snacks and/or drinks. They have a nice variety of beers/ciders/wine and you can find a lot of essentials and specialty items in the market. It's not 5 stars for me because I prefer to get my produce elsewhere because of cost, but that's not always possible. Ex: a bunch of celery was ~$5/lb. I think I'll be going here more often though because meat prices are getting higher and I find their quality of meats, availability and price point to be very reliable. I haven't seen chicken wings at Safeway or Trader Joe's for a few weeks and I picked some up here today for $5.99/lb. Chicken thighs were 7.99/lb and last week I paid $11.99/ for the same at Safeway. They have a breakfast bar and serve sandwiches. My bf couldn't believe that his sandwich today was from there, he thought it was great. There's also eclectic selection of candles, incense, housewares, etc. I personally couldn't do all of my grocery shopping here but I'm always happy with what I get.

If you L-O-V-E quality dark chocolate, your taste buds will adore this. For $12 it's SO worth it!

Popped in looking for something to satisfy my chocolate craving. There was a table of chocolate in front of the entrance (to the left of the front register). I picked up two selections, one familiar with the peanut and chocolate combination and the other a Russian bar that appeared slightly unique in flavor composition. The Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups made in Little Havana AVOID!!! For $8 they taste artificial and grainy, nothing about the cup translates quality. Four mini bite sized cups for $8 is fine if the quality is there and with these they are not. The Rozsavolgyi Csokolade chocolate bar, composed of candied cocoa nibs soaked in palinka in seasoned dark chocolate, is heavenly. Each bite is velvety and lingers on the palette in the most pleasant of ways. This bar would pair well with a Merlot or Cabernet and strawberries if it's to serve as a dessert or night cap. The store itself is quaint and confined, offering a selection suitable for its size and unique in options. I did not venture down any aisles but the fruit I could see from the front is seasonal and the flowers vibrant. The cashiers did not greet me, nor did they say anything during my extended transaction as they were unable to locate the price of the peanut butter cups. I was provided my total, offered a bag and a receipt during the transaction, and in absence of a thank you I received a smile.

Actually, I hardly ever go to Safeway anymore. Shelves are always well stocked, store is very clean, and just a pleasant place to shop at. In one incident over a year ago, another customer verbally harassed me and threatened physical harm while I was shopping. Her child was left unattended and was knocking items over, which I reported to security. The guard failed to do his job and did not intervene appropriately. When a supervisor arrived, the situation was handled much more professionally. I should feel safe shopping in my local market. That guard no longer works there, but the experience was upsetting and difficult to move past. Unfortunately, in January 2026, I encountered similar issues with a new security guard. He has repeatedly followed me around the store without cause. Most recently, he approached me unnecessarily, stood uncomfortably close, and spoke to me in an intrusive manner while I was selecting items. His behavior showed poor training and a lack of respect for personal boundaries. These repeated experiences with security staff are negatively affecting the atmosphere at Woodlands. I am a respectful, regular customer and do not want to feel uncomfortable or monitored without cause when shopping. Proper security training and professionalism are essential for customer safety and trust.

We were in San Francisco for about a week, and having a Trader Joe's so close was a total lifesaver. We could easily stop in and grab breakfast foods, snacks, and, of course, our favorite peanut butter cups. It saved us from having to spend a ton of money eating out for breakfast every morning, and we were able to stock up on snacks that lasted us for the entire trip. This Trader Joe's was definitely a different experience than the one we're used to back home in the St. Louis suburbs. Since it was right in the city, you actually had to take an escalator down to get into the store, which was kind of fun and unexpected. I also felt like there was surprisingly more room in the aisles than I expected for a city location. The checkout line was a completely different story! It wrapped around the store, which honestly gave me a little anxiety because I felt like I needed to hurry and get everything because the line looked like it was going to take forever. But they had a ton of checkers working, and the line actually moved incredibly fast. Before I knew it, we were checked out and on our way. It was just really nice to be somewhere familiar while experiencing a totally different version of Trader Joe's in another city. Having one so close to our hotel made our trip easier, more affordable, and a little more fun. And yes, we absolutely stocked up on those peanut butter cups!
