In 2025 they built us a new main panel, transformed our old panel into a sub panel of the new one and installed a new EV charger. They also put us in contact with a great stucco mason who we later used for additional repair work that we needed. This year they came by to disconnect an old hot tub and fit us into their schedule quickly. Highly recommended.

There were a series of excellent reviews. I sent hima a message and he got back to me right away. When we spoke, Ian himself walked me through the troubleshooting over the phone. He suggested it could be a bad bulb connection (take it out and clean the contacts) or an issue with the wall switch. Sure enough, it turned out to be our dimmer switch -- it just couldn't hold the charge properly and was causing the constant flickering. What really stands out is that Ian could have easily scheduled a service call and charged me a couple hundred bucks to come out. Instead, he gave me the exact fix for free and saved me the hassle and expense. In a world where so many companies push for paid visits, this level of honesty and helpfulness is rare and genuinely appreciated. While it cost me nothing, it cost him his time.I As a result, I promised Ian I'd write a glowing review, and here it is. If you're in the South Bay and need an electrician you can actually trust, call Ian Marsh South Bay Electric. Highly recommend! Rick

These guys were one of the few that could handle the concrete work, and they also handle all the permit work as well. Staff worked hard, finished everything quickly and made sure the work site was clean as a whistle after they finished. Everyone was really friendly, from the receptionist on the phone, the staff and the people giving me estimates. It's been more than a year since I got my EV charger installed, and I haven't noticed any problems since then. Price-wise, I feel it was pretty fair especially considering how they made everything so convenient. All in all, they did everything well. I'd have no problems recommending them to others, and will likely go back to them when I need other things addressed in the house.

TL:DR Reasonable pricing, relatively quick appointments, and good quality work. The downside was…read morethat their communication wasn't great so there were miscommunications between various people there and I needed to be fairly persistent to make sure we moved things along and I got the work we requested. But all in all, I would use them again for sure - just knowing I might have to follow up from time to time. Longer review: we contacted them to give us a quote for a whole house fan and attic fan. Of the quotes we got, they were very reasonable and they also had appointments available relatively soon. The person who came for the quote wasn't sales-y either which was a plus. I won't go into details of the various hurdles to communicate with them but it just wasn't very smooth. When they came to do the attic fan first, they told me they could only do that because the whole house fan had not arrived yet. Then they installed it and forgot to install a switch which was part of the quote. When they came to do the whole house fan a week later, again they didn't know to install a switch for the attic fan. I also had trouble with the invoice. Ultimately, they had a good price and did good work so I'm satisfied but just couldn't give them 5 stars because the overall experience was a little clunky. That said, I would definitely use them again.

Nick's Mobile - Installed a 3000 watt inverter in my 2025 Grand Design

Not the kind of problem you want to deal with on a trip. I called Nick and he responded right away. He made time to come out the same day. He diagnosed the issue quickly and knew exactly what was wrong. The automatic transfer switch had failed. Instead of delaying the repair, he tracked down the part himself, picked it up, and came back to install it. That level of effort matters when you are on a tight timeline. The repair was clean and professional. Power was restored and my entire weekend was back on track. What could have been a ruined trip turned into a great one. He did not stop there. He worked through the warranty process and made sure the repair was covered. I ended up fully reimbursed by the manufacturer. That saved me money and a lot of hassle. Nick goes above and beyond. He is responsive, knowledgeable, and committed to taking care of his customers. If you need mobile RV service, this is the guy to call. Nick if you see this, I truly apologize for such a late review. During the process there was some wood that was jacked up around the fridge where it anchors to the cabinets. I'm not overly picky just like bare minimums for my rig..but I wasn't thrilled because the fridge didn't stand straight. Nonetheless Nick said whether it was like that before or from his install he'd handle it next time around. Welp 7 months later my roof is leaking, I found again for roof leak repairs and he quoted, came out in a couple days, had it worked up, threw a little extra seal along the roof gutter that came off at material cost only..and he honored what he said from 7 months prior by finding pieces to anchor the fridge while doing the roof work at no extra charge. Additionally, I found a small leak from a clamp when using the hot water heater and he stopped by the campground on 24 hour notice and found the origin of the leak and fixed that for me quickly too (no charge). I'm happy with his response to the previous issue and quick turnaround time and will use him for quite a few other projects moving forward!

I also have a new build construction home with the wires pre wired so the actual work was not difficult at all. However (which I didn't know at the time), the Nema 14-50 plug that they bought at Home Depot and installed is not commercial grade (ie. Rated for EV charger use). It was a $15 plug and I only realized that when I want to use the EVSE charger at the maximum intended 40 amps, the socket would get extremely hot to the touch. I was worried about it melting (as you can google similiar stories) so I have been charging the car at only 20 amps max because I didn't want to spend more money on fixing the issue. 20 amps is fine and I can get a full charge overnight, it just takes longer since it's a slow charge. I'm finally posting this because I'm using the charger very frequently now (since I had free public charging for my EV which ended so now I have to charge at home) and I do wish my nema 14-50 plug was a heavy duty one so I can use the max amps of my juicebox. I didn't know then since I was a new EV owner so I want to make sure that other EV owners are aware and advocate for themselves/double check the work to make sure your house is safe!

    Smith Powerhouse

    Smith Powerhouse

    (12 reviews)

Honestly, this business is in a class all by itself, when it comes to quality of service!…read more Here's how it compares to a NAPA auto parts business that I purchased at recently. At the Napa in Stanton, you are treated like a nuisance, rather than a customer. Buying auto parts is more like pulling teeth. I didn't get what I needed, and I vowed to never go back to that location ever again. Recently, I spoke with Dave here at Smith Powerhouse, on the phone. Not only did he stop and check and make sure he had the filter for my generator in stock. But, he quoted me the price, as well. That's how service should be! Friendly and easy! There simply is no comparison between Dave and other service and parts businesses. It's easy to see exactly why Dave has been in business so long and why he has a long list of satisfied customers. All you need to do is compare them for yourself. At most places, you are simply another problem walking in the door for them to try to satisfy. Most places do a reasonable job. But, the service you receive here at Smith's is simply outstanding. They solve your problem instead of sending you away upset and unsatisfied! I purchased before, and I will continue to purchase again every time I need either parts or service for my generator. Let me save you some time and aggravation by showing you EXACTLY how to best use this business to buy service for your generator. FIRST, before you call, make SURE you know the name and model number of your generator, which is usually located on some sort of DATA PLATE that is attached to the generator. There's not much anyone can do for you if they don't know EXACTLY what you have. So, go out and look and write it down. For example, my generator is an ONAN, made by Cummins, and the model is called MICROLITE. It has a 4000 watt output and the series is KY. They can't help you with parts unless you know the EXACT model number, so be sure to copy it down and have it ready when you call. Next, it's best to have some idea of what is wrong. Because saying "I don't know" doesn't begin to narrow down the problem and it means you will be leaving it up to them to first diagnose your generator. Some suggested problems could be: Doesn't start at all or hard to start. Doesn't run smoothly. No power output. Or, it just needs general maintenance however they see fit. Now, if you have no idea what is wrong, and you say "I dunno" then be prepared to pay a diagnostic fee just to have your generator inspected. What about recent USE? Sitting for years, and covered in cobwebs? Or, used and running a month or so ago? Yes, this company can probably bring a dead generator back to life again! The more details you provide, the better this company will understand your needs. Finally, remember, this is a BUSINESS and in order to stay in business, they must charge enough to make a reasonable profit. So, be prepared to pay for the parts and service that your generator needs. I recently had my generator serviced, and now I'm saving TONS of money on gas because I run this tiny generator engine to make electricity rather than the big V-10 engine in the motorhome. Plus, all my house-current appliances are usable now, and that means my microwave and air conditioner are back in service again. The biggest problem I had was FINDING this place. If I had known about this business, I would have used them YEARS ago and not waited so long to fix my generator. Oh, one last thing. NOTHING mechanical is maintenance-free, despite what they may tell you. So, if you have a generator that you expect to use on a regular basis, then get it INSPECTED at least once a year. More often, if you're using it each and every day, like I do. These Onan generators are pretty reliable, but you do need to do regular maintenance on them. Oil changes and filters. Valve adjustments too. Plus, fuel lines get old and hard from the heat, so you need to change them when they deteriorate. Now that you have a better idea of what to do, you are well on your way to purchasing the parts and service that you need to keep your generator running reliably. And, if you don't have a generator at all, well then, this is the place to buy one and have it installed in your vehicle. If you want house-type power in your vehicle, then solar panels don't even come close to fulfilling that need. All these van-life people try to rely strictly on solar panels and they end up living in the dark and the cold, because solar panels are minimal at best. If you want house-type power, the only way to get it is with a generator! If you are contemplating ANY type of mobile business, having a generator and electric power makes all the difference in the world! A food truck, perhaps? A mobile pet service van? Even a mobile office! Any type of mobile business where house-type electric is needed. This company will make that happen for you. This is my updated review. Read my previous review of this business below.

I was in the RV when he looked at it and he didn't even try to start it. I would have heard it if he had. He then said he was going to do an estimate for me and that I could pay the $195 and he would email it to me. I just about fell off my chair when I saw it. To replace my starter, the carb and install a new muffler he quoted me 11 hours @ $175/hr. Trained by Onan and in the biz for years and it was going to take him 11 hours? I don't think so. So beware, he charged me 200 bucks and then sent me a ridiculous quote. I wonder who else he has done this to.
