After I argued with him because I told him his solution (clipping a zip tie around a tube to prevent the fan from hitting the tube) was not going to work because I had tried that a month ago and it was still having the issue. I paid only the service fee but IT WAS A COMPLETE WASTE SINCE HE DIDN'T EVEN provide a proper diagnosis AND AGAIN SPENT LESS THAN 10 MINUTES LOOKING AT THE REFRIGERATOR. He will also come with another person that does not speak English (or pretends to not speak English) and they will both communicate in another language the whole time as they speak about your appliance. I myself speak another language other than English but when I am doing business, especially for the first time, I speak the language majority of people in the room speak in order to establish trust and rapport but he obviously didn't care about any of that. I only mention this because it seems like his young assistant was trying to make him aware of something that was not working and he quickly directed him to leave it alone. I hate writing negative reviews, so I'm really hesitant to even write this, but this was maybe the worst experience I've ever had with a repair man. I hired Nik to fix both my washer and dryer, and he ended up breaking my washer completely. Aside from dodging my questions about showing me a receipt for the part he needed, since it seemed expensive to me (they were $100+ cheaper than he said when I looked online), when he came over the first time, he made my washer worse. Originally, the problem was that it would occasionally give up somewhere in the spin cycle and we'd have to restart the spin cycle. The door would stay locked for a few minutes when that happened, but it would still reliably OPEN. After he left, the door simply wouldn't open at all at any point, even hours after the cycle was over. He told me to pull a wire to bypass the door lock until he was able to come back, so we did that in the meantime. When he finally came back to fix what he'd done (and scheduling this was difficult, because he was texting my female roommate who was there when I wasn't able to be, even though she hadn't hired him and wasn't paying for it, and whom he continued to text after it was requested that he correspond with me), he informed me that he had in fact dropped the wire down into the washer, and it could not be opened at all or repaired without pulling the door off and destroying the whole thing. He said I'd just... have to get a new washer. He suggested maybe sawing off a part to get the door open if he could get the right tool from a friend, but never responded to my text inquiring if that would actually be possible. Thankfully he gave me my money back before leaving my home (for the washer, not the dryer), but the whole thing was absurd. Maybe he was just having an off night, because when he first came in he asked if I wanted help bringing a medium-sized package in, and I said no it was fine, and he insisted, and then immediately dropped it on the floor. Tl;dr Got the job done and good and quick service. Minus 1/2 star because it was a little pricey. Woke up this morning and my LG fridge had lost power. I checked the circuit breaker and outlet to make sure there was power. I also took a look at the motherboard to see if there was any visible signs of damage. Out of options, decided to give this shop a call. We called around 9AM on a Wednesday and Niko showed up at 10:50. Pretty good! Unfortunately he couldnt fix it on the spot and took the mother board with him to the shop. I texted around 3 to check on the status. Niko back around 4:30 and re-installed it. As far as price goes, really not sure about the average rate but definitely a little more than I would have liked to pay. Honestly, I don't know shit about refrigerators or appliance brands, with that said I called around to get my Insignia Fridge repair bc it wasn't cooling anymore after 2 yrs of use. most of the people I called said to me "those refrigerators don't last long", "they don't work with them", and another said, "it's probably the compressor getting no power". So I was surprised when I called Niko and he said there isn't anything he can't fix and he told me it's going to be $29 to check out the problem. so I agreed and thought 29? that's an odd number but since other people were quoting me at 25 or 30 bucks before I told them it's an Insignia brand, I didn't think too much about it. he told me to be home as earliest as I can be on Wed. bc they work until 5, so I reply with "i'll be by 430". I rushed home to end up waiting until 730pm??? so fucked up! He made me leave work early and lose money when i didn't have to, completely unacceptable! Then, he spends about 10mins and says he's familiar with these cheap fridges and they tend to have the same problem. Basically what another appliance repair company told me over the phone! By that point, I was upset bc I knew this wasn't going to get fixed and 29 dollars down the drain. So it was time to paid and he shows me the bill of $69 dollars!! I was in shock and told him you said $29 not $69. Honestly, I think this was a lack of communication bc this man has an accent and I could have mistakenly heard 29 but I did repeat the amount to him to confirm, that's the only reason why I agreed. I would have never agreed to 69 dollars. I truly think, he thought it would be an easy 69 bucks when he already knew what the problem was and totally ripped me off. I only say this bc, he knew the current situation and still told me he can fix it, while other companies were honest and didn't waste my time and money. I don't think I have ever written a negative review but I rely on Yelp a lot so I feel that it is necessary to write a negative review when I have had such a bad experience, as I did with Appliance Direct Repair. We called because we noticed a gas smell coming from our Samsung dryer, which is in a small closet and is stacked on top of our washer, and were told it would be a $250 service charge. We didn't share that we had the gas shut off because we did not know that was relevant. The individual from Appliance Direct Repair came over within a couple of hours, same day, with another individual. He told us that he could not fix the issue because the gas was shut off, but that we still had to pay the $250 service charge, and that he would come out the next day after the gas was turned back on to fix it for an additional fee (I believe it was $140 but not certain). We called another company instead, who quoted us $50 for a service fee for our Samsung gas dryer, after I gave him all of the relevant information I also provided to Appliance Direct Repair, and while the gas was still shut off. That individual came over (while the gas was still shut off, so under the exact same circumstances as Appliance Direct Repair's visit) and was able to fix the issue within a couple of hours, after a trip to Home Depot. And the $50 service fee was applied to the repair cost. So essentially we paid $250 for a service fee from Appliance Direct Repair to do nothing but tell us he could not fix the issue, while another company under the exact same circumstances fixed the issue easily and in one visit. I would not recommend this business and I wish that I had read through the negative reviews on Yelp (and the business owner's response to those reviews) before requesting his services. read more

He called and texted asking for my address and I again said I wasn't sure it was worth repairing. He asked again and I gave him the address and he was here in 20 minutes (very fast service). After 5 minutes he said the circuit breaker had blown and I needed to plug it in a different outlet, then asked for $100. "The visit cost was $60, I dont see what was repaired in 5 minutes that required special expertise." "Well I did. I tested the outlet." In the end he agreed to $90 but what he did was not worth an extra $30, especially considering he didn't touch or look at the dishwasher. Examined the broken appliance, but could not make an assessment because he was unable to remove the appliance from its housing due to the way it was installed. Entire meeting was about 15 minutes, and the outcome was that he could not make a determination. Nevertheless, charged me for a full site visit. While I acknowledge that he was unable to make an assessment due to the setup of the appliance, I would have expected some sort of a discount considering that he both missed the first appointment and was not able to provide any expert advice/opinion in the short time he was at my house. Avoid at all costs. Hired them to fix a washer that was not draining in September 2019 and it worked for a few months but had the same issue less than a year later. Supposedly replaced the drain pump. They refused to stand by their "work," saying that I would need to pay again to have them come out. To make matters worse, it appears costs were cut intentionally, as only one pump was replaced instead of two. It was also likely not replaced with new parts. Went with another technician who charged me the same amount to replace both pumps with new pumps. Avoid. There are much better and more honest technicians in the LA area read more
