Needed to get a panel upgrade and an EV charger installed. There's an open space between my panel and my garage, so I was told by other electricians that I'd have to get someone else to break the concrete because they don't do that. These guys were one of the few that could handle the concrete work, and they also handle all the permit work as well. Staff worked hard, finished everything quickly and made sure the work site was clean as a whistle after they finished. Everyone was really friendly, from the receptionist on the phone, the staff and the people giving me estimates. It's been more than a year since I got my EV charger installed, and I haven't noticed any problems since then. Price-wise, I feel it was pretty fair especially considering how they made everything so convenient. All in all, they did everything well. Everything was done very well and very quickly! Extremely competitive quote as well. When I initially reached out I wanted quotes from multiple businesses so I requested 3 businesses from yelp to come out. Of those quotes, the only one I got back in a timely manner was from Mario Castillo electric, one of the others came out and then just never go back to me with the quote, the other got back to me but over a week late (also came in super high), we're so happy we worked with these guys! TL:DR Reasonable pricing, relatively quick appointments, and good quality work. The downside was that their communication wasn't great so there were miscommunications between various people there and I needed to be fairly persistent to make sure we moved things along and I got the work we requested. But all in all, I would use them again for sure - just knowing I might have to follow up from time to time. Longer review: we contacted them to give us a quote for a whole house fan and attic fan. Of the quotes we got, they were very reasonable and they also had appointments available relatively soon. The person who came for the quote wasn't sales-y either which was a plus. I won't go into details of the various hurdles to communicate with them but it just wasn't very smooth. When they came to do the attic fan first, they told me they could only do that because the whole house fan had not arrived yet. Then they installed it and forgot to install a switch which was part of the quote. When they came to do the whole house fan a week later, again they didn't know to install a switch for the attic fan. I also had trouble with the invoice. Ultimately, they had a good price and did good work so I'm satisfied but just couldn't give them 5 stars because the overall experience was a little clunky. My spa stopped working, so I contacted my spa maintenance guy to come check it out. It turned out that the breaker kept "tripping" and he mentioned that I probably needed a "new breaker". He offered to change it and I politely declined. I immediately contacted Mario Castillo Electric. I have used this company for quite a few years and have always been extremely satisfied with the service. Luciano "Lucky" came out to inspect the breaker and agreed that the breaker kept tripping because the wattage did not support the wattage for the spa. The spa was installed 15 years ago! What a nice find! We wanted to update lighting in our kitchen. The old lights used fluorescent tubes. We wanted to investigate the possibility and cost to convert this to more current (excuse the pun) LED. We received a wide range of bids. The low bid was from a contractor who told us he didn't need to look at the area. Note that his bid was barely sufficient to cover the cost of the LED tubes. Remember, these new LED lights run about $50 (Lowes) each. The high bidder did come and check the area, providing clarity as to what would be done. They ended up nearly twice what Mario's quoted. Today, Marco, our technician, arrived on time, completed his work, cleaned up after himself, and even took time to listen to me tell a couple of stories. Marco is a great tech. You may want to ask for him. When future needs arise, he will be on my short list. Heck, he is the list. My project lasted a year plus because of some inspection blockers but once I called again to have them come, they never missed a beat. Just look at their track record, no one beats them for a reason. Their policy is 285 flat rate IF they can fix it which includes everything. In the end Mario spent 5 minutes fixing some wires on the outlet (according to him). This is something I could have spent on electrician that charge $75 for and spend 5 min. Regardless, he thought the dryer is the cause of issue. Regardless no CONCRETE solution, still wanting to charge $285 dollars. I felt for his work I should give something, but no, they wanted $285. Spoke to manager over the phone, after a lot of back & forward, he said u don't have to pay. But I felt bad cause Mario spent some time so I'm like no I want be fair still pay him for his time. Gave him $80, the guy was sooo pissed didn't even look at me and just left.. Suuuper rude and unprofessional. So now my WASHER is setting of the breaker. We have continued to use Mario Castillo Electric for a variety of projects - most recently, setting up a charger for an all electric vehicle, installing security cameras, and finally, figuring out why a light fixture had stopped working. The crews continue to be competent, clean, and on-time. An emerging downside is that the company is growing, so there is more "home office" overhead in that the left hand doesn't always talk with the right. Additionally, there is less human-to-human contact and more outreach by bots. As our Latin teachers once told us, many years ago: "Sic Transit Gloria Mundi." MCE still gets the job done, stands by its work, starts on time and finishes on time, and provides accurate up-front estimates of expenses.
