This place is becoming very rundown. I have lived in University City since 2003, and I have shopped at Costa Verde Center for that entire amount of time. The campus isn't kept as clean as it used to be. The center now has several closed storefronts. A lot of them have been closed for several years. The Coco's has been closed for almost a decade. It's ironic considering the newly upgraded UTC mall is literally across the street. So is the new trolley line. That never used to be the case. When Albertson's left, Bristol Farms moved right in. Chipotle and Five Guys ended up being great additions to the center. Roy's was the last "anchor" business to leave the center. It was fairly recent, but I doubt there are plans to replace it. It makes me wonder if the center is going to close down, and is just waiting for the leases of the remaining businesses to run out. read more

Overall I just have a few things to say, this place is pretty clean shopping center with plenty of food to go around, the thing that I like the most about that is if you have a group of people and everyone wants something different this is the place to go if you're around the area why you ask because they really do have a wide selection of food, whether you're looking for burritos or pizza or sandwiches and more this is where I'd go ! The downside being honest is the parking, usually I find a spot somewhat easily but especially around lunchtime it does get very busy and you may be driving in circles looking for a spot or someone to leave, the good side of that is people come and go somewhat quickly there so spots become available on a regular basis. Overall this place is very clean And offers a bite of shopping while you grab a bite as well ! read more

This little shopping center is okay. The best thing it has going for it, is the mix of quality restaurants, such as Roy's, The Strip Club, and Sammy's Woodfired Pizza, and smaller establishments like Five Guy's and Chipotle etc.. There are a few good stores like Active Foot Wear and Men's Wherehouse, but there is not a department store or specialty shop that keeps one coming back, other than the eating establishments and perhaps Starbucks. There's a dentist office on the top level, and if you need a haircut, there's a Super Cuts. When all the restaurants are open, parking can be an issue, especially at the top level where Roy's and The Strip Club are at. They have a multilevel parking structure which helps. The center also offers a U.S. Postal Service Retail Store. Tip: If you go to the Centers web site at (http://costaverdecenter.com/specialoffers.htm), many of the establishments offer coupons. read more

I've seen this center change throughout the years . I was a long time fan of the boxing club located on the second floor . Still love them . Parking can be downright miserable during peak hours . Plus , the escalators by the boxing club and Baskin never works . The underground parking always seems dark and scary . Bristol Farms seems to be struggling . The market looks outdated and the cafe has been depressing . The hot deli section has changed as well . We sometimes visit Roys due to open table perks but that restaurant is always empty when we visit . Draft republic - swear they don't have a/c so it can get stuff AF there :( Hope this center improves . Must be hard on them with all the horrible UTC construction and trolley install everywhere - read more

No matter how busy Costa Verde Center has been getting especially during the days of renovation of UTC mall, this place offers a lot. A post office, fashion stores, chain restaurants to name a few. This little corner now needs to be preserved in a sense that it cannot afford more shops in terms of available parking, population and traffic. It definitely needs EV charging spots. read more

I am a volunteer in the community and wear contacted by a tenant in this complex because their cat fell out of the fourth floor window... I had set up a humane trap hidden in the bushes for a couple days... Only to find out that the cleaning people decided to throw it in the trashcan. Not only was that expensive equipment... But it doesn't look like trash... You guys should've had it brought to the leasing office. Terrible community that doesn't care about people. read more

I used to love this center! Several stores have closed down recently so I attribute it to center management. If tenants in La Jolla can't afford the commercial rent, maybe it's time you lower it. I count at least 5 empty storefronts in an affluent neighborhood. Time to get your act together, regency. Make rents affordable or risk decimating your once popular shopping destination. read more

For being in La Jolla, this place is really a run down slum commercial property. Not sure what's going on here with management, but I would not rent a unit there, and I would certainly not shop there if I didn't have to once in a while. read more

This shopping center is a pain in the rear! The parking and traffic coming in and out sucks, especially during lunch and happy hour. People don't know how to drive or park! The parking is only for compact cars and people don't park within the lines. There is an underground parking garage if you don't mind the stairs. What excites me is that there is a bunch of restaurants and eateries that I frequent (Roy's, Strip Club, Sammy's, Starbucks, etc.). HOWEVER, I only come when it's not busy. read more

Lived here from 08 to 14. Moved back to NYC around late 2014 and I can tell you that this place is on the ghetto side. Things really are different and its as if it's the new standard now. Being next to that mall isn't gonna help either. Crowds are different. 2 stars because it's where I live and am hoping to see it go back to what it was! read more

This shopping center has my bare necessities: a USPS opened on Saturdays, 24/7 Subway, Starbucks, Five Guys, 24/7 MCDONALDS, Bristol Farms and is within walking distance of Costa Verde Apartments. Not bad at all. Parking is questionable. Poorly drawn out. But whenever I compare parking, none matches with the poorly designed Ralph's parking lot. read more

Biggest joke of a parking lot and overall design for a shopping center. It's ... three(?)-tiered and there's no real rationale for it. The parking here is almost always hectic. There's very little parking enforcement preventing UCSD students from parking here for the day and taking up valuable spots for possible patrons. The only time I ever really came here with any frequency was the year I lived in Costa Verde North (which I also regret). read more

It's an ok shopping center. I only go there for the restaurants. I find the layout a little disorganized and always get confused on which entrance to take. It has some good restaurants with ample parking. If you work in this area, it has good places for lunch. read more

I love this area. I can get to this place by walking, and everything seems to be here, especially my beloved Robeks. :) Parking is never an issue, unless you come during the busier times and you're wanting to park close to the store you want to go to. There's underground parking, parking right across the street, some parking near the food court (although awkwardly positioned), more down the hill near Bristol Farms, and a parking lot near La Jolla Strip club. There's plenty of places to sit if you choose to eat at the little food court area, even some hidden spots BEHIND the center. It's a pretty cute extension to UTC mall, especially if you are wanting to stop by a bookstore, grab a smoothie, and get your nails done after having some sushi. :) read more

What an odd place. The design is pretty strange since part of the plaza is on a lower level to the South and the upper level is on the North. If you want to go from one to the other, it's not at all convenient. I'd also like to echo the comments about the escalator; I've lived here two years and never seen any of the escalators working in that entire time. Why didn't they just build an elevator or perhaps more functional stairs. Anyone who has used a non-working escalator as a staircase knows that unless you're 6'5", the steps are very far apart. Let's talk about parking, shall we? If you can find it, you're lucky. You can certainly waste almost 20 minutes searching for a spot. The parking is awful, but at least it's better than what you'll find at Trader Joe's. The spots are extremely narrow, and looks like they were designed only for motorcycles and mini-coopers. For those of us who live in the area and wouldn't mind biking...THERE ARE NO FREAKING BIKE RACKS ANYWHERE!!!! I take that back. I think there's one in the very dark underground garage. It's pretty rinky-dink and you take your chances with having components of your bike stolen, which only serves to promote the great San Diego Car Culture. (Nice urban planning!!) I think I've seen maybe two bike racks in all of the UTC, but one of them was on a bus, so I'm not sure if that counts. Theres a wonderful sign in front of the Cul de Sac near Five Guys Burgers/Starbucks/Verizon (strange combination of stores) that says, "Parallel Park". Once in a while I see someone actually follow the instructions, and it irritates the hell out of everyone else who more practically parks like a normal human being would. I guess the designers figured that it's better to have space for only six cars instead of 12. Again, morons, but that's typical of San Diego's vision of use of space and promotion of a car-only culture. read more

Costa Verde use to be to "go to place" for shopping and quick errands. Now every time I drive through Costa Verde it looks more ghetto with trash and graffiti everywhere. I don't think this place is managed and maintained very well. The McDonald's within Costa Verde is the absolutely worst grease pit in all of San Diego. Coco's use to pack a crowd but their service went downhill and the place hardly draws customers. And the escalators at Costa Verde from the lower level to the top level are ALWAYS out of order. If you need to come to Costa Verde for anything, I would search nearby or go to La Jolla Village Square down the street. read more

I've lived in the area for over 20 years and have never been that impressed with this shopping center. The architecture of this center is poorly designed with 3 levels and the parking is horrible. The escalators from the inner parking lot to the second level never work. The McDonalds has extremely slow service when you go inside. I've been to a very crowded McDonalds in Mira Mesa and barely waited. At the Costa Verde McDonalds you wait forever for your order to be taken and then a long time for your food. The Coco's has gotten more expensive and the food has gone down. I recently got a notice that they will be redoing this center. One thing I would suggest is getting rid of the that over-priced Bristol Farms and putting in a decent grocery store, like the Albertsons that used to be there. read more

Went here for the first time, and I won't go back. I paid 34 dollars to get a car wash and wipe down of the inside. It was their "ultra wash". I don't know what was so ultra about it. They cleaned 3 out of 4 tires. There was cleaning spray running down the speakers on my back doors, didn't see till I got home. There was dirt still on my bumper, the sun roof had water spots. They hand dried the car so they missed this. I went to this car wash only because I saw my friends SUV inside and out and it was great and she only paid 28 and that included a vacuum and air pressure. read more
