But I DO have a problem with pumps that can take cards, but don't, with no attendants, forcing you to walk quite a ways across a lot into another building out of view of your car and wait in line. When you go to insert your card you're met with a little screen that says "Machine not currently taking cards. Please pay inside" or something like that. Even though the machine has a card reader, and I've used it before in the past under previous ownership. So OK, cool no problem. My legs aren't broken. I'll just walk inside. Now I have to wait in line at least 10 minutes behind people humming and hawing at what they want out of the deli case. Or to stare blankly at the menu as if they've never seen or heard of chicken on a stick before. I do finally get up there. I hand the kid my card. "How's it going? I'd like some gas. Fill on pump three please" He asks me how much? I say "a fill, I want to fill it up please" Then he asked me, well do you know like what dollar amount that's gonna be?. Really man? No, that's kind of what you're supposed to tell me after the car has been filled up. So they don't have the technology to put an authorization on my card, and then charge me what the total is when I'm done pumping the gas? Am I the only person that ever comes in and asks them to fill it up? Really? I say "Just give me $10" Only $10? "Yes please, thanks." (Just give me enough to get up the road to someplace that knows how gas stations are supposed to work.)

Last week I was asked to show ID for the first time in 17 years to buy a six pack of beer. I am 75 years old and obviously of age, so I find this process very annoying and lawfully unnecessary. look it up. I was told by the checker and other long term staff that they have always required ID and if I didn't like it I could shop elsewhere. Again, I have never been required to provide ID before. The staff were very rude and I was shocked that they would treat a long term customer as they did. I am very disappointed and will be shopping elsewhere unless absolutely desperate.

It might be run of the mill for locals; I'm not sure if this is a large chain that's all over the place or if it's less common, but the produce, meat, and cheese departments blew me away. I just want to rave a bit about this particular section of the store - most everything else was similar to what your expect. I've never seen such a large selection of items in a grocery store deli before... it was honestly slightly overwhelming to pick just a few items to try. There are individually wrapped chunks of tons of different types of cheeses, dried meats and prepackaged ones, accoutrements like breadsticks, olives, mini jelly and jam jars, and more. It was amazing. The bakery case was a whole other story... I have the biggest sweet tooth and can't get enough of baked goods, and their displays were absolutely gorgeous. I unfortunately didn't purchase anything from this section, but I can only imagine it's delicious lol. We are driving home to California from Portland and my son said he needed to throw up. He actually did throw up on the way to Portland so we stopped by this Walgreens to see if they had Dramamine for kids. The cashier at the front was a little off. As I mentioned we are driving to California and had some cans that I was looking to dispose of. I'm used to stores having a trash can in front of the store. She seemed to not want to let me throw away some of the stuff I had, although I did need to go get the medication. I let her know that I did need to purchase an item and I'm assuming her manager or someone in a higher position was coming towards the front when she asked him if she could let me throw the cans away. So thank you to him! I was able to get the motion sickness medication for my son and it was close to the freeway.
