Impressive little market that was conveniently by our hotel. I can't comment on parking because we walked over here from the Maverick. We wanted something simple for dinner and they had lots of prepared foods to try. We got some of their mushroom soup and citrus chicken, which was very tasty. I was in town on business for a couple of days and stopped by this grocery store to pick up a few snacks and some water for my hotel room. Parking is a little janky if you're not used to the area, but this grocery store is otherwise a hidden gem! It might be run of the mill for locals; I'm not sure if this is a large chain that's all over the place or if it's less common, but the produce, meat, and cheese departments blew me away. I just want to rave a bit about this particular section of the store - most everything else was similar to what your expect. I've never seen such a large selection of items in a grocery store deli before... it was honestly slightly overwhelming to pick just a few items to try. There are individually wrapped chunks of tons of different types of cheeses, dried meats and prepackaged ones, accoutrements like breadsticks, olives, mini jelly and jam jars, and more. It was amazing. The bakery case was a whole other story... I have the biggest sweet tooth and can't get enough of baked goods, and their displays were absolutely gorgeous. I unfortunately didn't purchase anything from this section, but I can only imagine it's delicious lol. Checking out was easy as it usually is when grocery shopping and the lady that helped me out was friendly, so I really had absolutely nothing to complain about during my extremely brief visit to this super cool store. read more

We take for granted that our Specialty small Markets have such delicious and delightful entrees, Their Lasagna is as good as those that end up costing You $50-$90. at lunch or at the end of the evening at a crowded restaurant! This evening I'm savouring this Mediterranean dish, that was inspired thousands of miles away, yet enjoying right here in the Willamette Valley... With its delicate flavours of well diced red & green onions, spinach, basil, sun dried tomatoes, garbanzo beans, artichoke hearts, all nicely blended in the Orzo pasta noodles and to bring it up to its added richness are the ripe black Kalamata olives, grape tomatoes (make sure there's plenty) and feta cheese with a wonderful blend of Extra Italian Virgin Olive Oil, red wine maybe a dash of lemon and of course I add that separately. my favourite thick Italian organic glaze of Balsamic Vinegar of Modena... But wait there's More!!! You don't have to garner all that to blend together it's all ready, painstakingly done for You, waiting in Your Market of Choice deli case... Yum!!! This was my husband's and my virgin voyage into a Market of Choice location as it was just down the street from our hotel in Eugene. I had read mixed reviews for Market of Choice, a small chain of grocery stores in Oregon, and have to say we were pleasantly surprised by what we found at this location. It seemed to us sort of like what one might get were they to do a mash up of something like a Safeway and a Whole Foods. There were a lot more general, national brand name items than we expected to find at a market with a reputation for being something of a "natural" focus...things you'd never find in a Whole Foods aisle. Not brands we buy, but different strokes for different folks and we realize some shoppers choose the big national labels for many reasons. But there were also enough natural food items and more regional food items (aka "locally sourced") to keep shoppers like us interested. Maybe that's the "...of Choice" thing in the name of the store? ;-) We also thought the take away prepared foods section had some nice selections and so did the bakery...although we weren't in the market to buy anything at either. The produce department looked good, although much smaller than we'd expect it to be for a store of this size...maybe that's a factor of this being a "closer to campus" store and "on the main drag" store than a suburban neighborhood store? My hubby also thought the wine department, a pretty good sized section for the size of the store, had lots of interesting wines across the spectrum of domestic and imported and at good price points too. I liked the abundance of local and "local-ish" bulk coffee beans to choose from. Overall, were we at another time in a place where our options were big markets only for grocery shopping and Market of Choice was one of the options, based on the virgin voyage experience on Franklin Street in Eugene, we'd say "that felt good - let's do it again". read more

I can't compare this Market of Choice to others, as I've not been to any other MOC's, but on a recent visit to Eugene, my husband and I visited this upscale grocery store a few times and we loved it! It may not be a huge warehouse-like space, but we thought it packed a punch for the more intimate store that it was. Yes, it totally reminded us of Whole Foods in that this store focuses on organic fare, eye-pleasing displays, extensive bulk foods sections and, yes too, higher prices. Upon entering the store the first time, I was pleasantly surprised to see a small but beautiful gourmet foods/gourmet gifts area beside a counter where bakery goods and lattes and teas were made, with sitting booths to the side, by the window. How lovely to have, essentially, a cute little café right in the grocery store! We had some lattes one morning here and they were perfectly made. The bakery section is gorgeous, with fabulous looking pastries and cakes and tartes and cookies and bars. (Unfortunately they didn't have eclairs, though, when we asked. We'd have thought this a mainstream bakery item. Perhaps it's TOO mainstream...). I liked how they had a displayed menu of specialty seasonal baked treats. The deli and meat sections were beautiful, if not a bit small. Everything looked fresh and was displayed attractively. Everything was also priced high (higher than what we're used to at Safeway and QFC in the Seattle area, anyway). I loved the bulk food areas! I love the idea of cutting back on needless packaging, and buying just the amount one wants. If, hypothetically, one only wants a few pieces of Australian black licorice, that's all one needs to buy. LOL!). One day I had a hankering for some chocolate-covered gummy bears and a handful of bridge mixture, so I got a small amount of each from here. Both these items, though good, weren't great; something was off with the chocolate-to-gummy/fruit/nut mixture, and the gummy bears were bland. This is the only reason I'm docking a star from my rating of the store. They other bulk items we got were all fabulous: organic fig Newtons, the licorice mentioned above, some trail mix, toffee for hubby, some dried fruit.... All was delicious and fresh and well-priced. We walked the aisles and were impressed with the dairy and frozen sections, and there was also a fabulous section of cute household/ gift items/organic cosmetics and make-up and lotions and potions, etc. We really enjoyed this grocery store. It's perhaps on the smaller side, but it has everything we'd possibly need - and then some. read more

Came here on 10/9 and it was awful. I stood at the deli while my partner walked all through the produce section and no one came up to help me during that entire time. A few were talking behind the counter and didn't even acknowledge me or tell me "someone will be right with you". A very rude customer aggressively asked me to move so he could order while I was in the middle of ordering. My partner ordered a coffee and the barista put the coffee down on the other end of the counter and didn't even acknowledge it was there and just walked away. To make it worse, the cashier was also rude. Ugh... I've been here a million times and the treatment doesn't seem worth the extra cost of shopping at MOC. Don't think I'll come back. read more

This place is a market on steroids. Simply put they have pretty much everything you are looking for and then some, but make no mistake you'll pay a pretty penny for it. They are quite proud of what they have to offer from fresh unique produce to cheese I've never heard of. Great selection of beer including local favorites and everything in between. I wouldn't recommend doing all your shopping here, but to get something a little different or a few items here or there they seem like a great choice. Would recommend if you're in the area. Well Market of Choice. I stopped in to pick up some ginger beer recently and yes, you were able to fill that need. Plus you had several different options for me which was pretty great. You seem to have a small assortment of everything plus some items that are considered more of a specialty. I am from Colorado and Market of Choice compares to Sprouts or a smaller Whole Foods. However, your parking situation was atrocious! Between people not paying attention and backing up without looking, pulling in as close as humanly possible, and just the incredibly limited amount of spaces I have to say I was a little frustrated. I understand that this isn't really in your control, but it still impacted my visit. Additionally, I found it odd that the cashier was also answering phones while ringing up my purchase. Perhaps placing it on hold, finishing my transaction, and then returning to the call may have been more appropriate. My mother speaks so highly of you, that I know I will be back on a future visit to Eugene. Hopefully I won't be the one driving next time! read more

This is a pretty decent Market of Choice location. It's relatively close to my house, and very close to my job. Some of the things I love about it are the fact they carry Umpqua brand dairy products. It's a dairy in Roseburg, about an hour away. I love their milk and cottage cheese. There are only specific stores that stock products from this dairy, and this is one of them. The wine section is very good, and quite large. They also have a bulk spice section that I like. Whatever brand of herb de providence they carry is my absolute favorite, and there are times I'll go in just for that and some milk. The bakery has some pretty tasty cakes as well. The produce section can leave a lot to be desired. A lot of times, produce will appear old or in bad shape, bruised, brown spots, ect. The employees can be hard to find, having only a handful in the store, and the majority of them are cashiers. They don't carry the brand of coconut water I drink. There are good and bad points to this store. The good definitely outweighs the bad, which is why I keep going back. read more

Wedding Cake Review. Market of Choice made my wedding cakes, and everyone loved them. They created 6 cakes for us, which was much cheaper than a traditional tiered cake. Plus, we got 6 different flavors. I ordered plenty for leftovers, but the cake was eaten up within a few minutes at the wedding. I didn't even get any, but everyone raved. Best part- my super health-foodie mother-in-law LOVED them and had a tiny slice of each one! Ordering was easy, and the tasting session was fun. We tasted at the MOC in Corvallis, but ordered the cakes from the one on Franklin in Eugene because that was close to our wedding venue. Friends picked them up on the way to the wedding, no problems. The Market of choice on Franklin Blvd has a poke bar. You can completely customize your poke bowls. When I went there the options were: 2 types of tuna, salmon, shrimp, seaweed salad, octopus salad, rice, and mango. Really good all the pieces were uniform and really fresh. Its only $14.99 a pound. In my opinion this is the best value in town for quick poke fix the only problem at this location is parking. read more

I was super excited to get my wedding cake! It's one of the dreams when planning a wedding. I paid for my cake in full July 2018 (wedding Oct 2018). So when the day of the wedding had happened and we were about to walk down the aisle, I wanted to see the cake table beforehand. That's when I noticed my cake wasn't even on my table yet and come to find out it wasn't delivered yet (was supposed to be delivered by 11:30 AM - it was now 5:00 PM). Called them and they thought my wedding was the next day even though on the paperwork it read 10/19. If you're confused call the bride. They informed us that they would be on their way ASAP - it showed up 45 minutes later (after my ceremony was over, showed up during the cocktail hour for my guests & while I was away getting pictures taken). My next problem was after I got back from my Honeymoon my MOH had saved my cake in her freezer for me and when I went to pick it up, found out the flavor of the cake was wrong. When I called to speak with them they had informed me that since I booked it so far in advance "I probably just forgot or I'm confused". So booking ahead of time makes it my fault for you delivering me the wrong cake?? The booking sheet shows where the cake flavors got changed to the entire cake being lemon. I don't like lemon cake, so why would I have changed my cake order to an entire lemon cake?? It was supposed to be one white with buttercream tier and one lemon (lemon for the fiancé). I'm just totally disappointed in my wedding cake after planning my wedding for two years for this to happen and for the price I paid for it. MOC usually nails cakes every time, but this makes me not want to go back to Market of Choice again after this disaster and the lady on the phone being completely rude and sassy. Moved to Eugene not long ago. Was hoping Market of Choice would be somewhat like Whole Foods, but was extremely disappointed. At first sight, the store decor was nice and clean. Produce section was well organized and had a wide selection of vegetables. In other isles, the selection of produces seemed quite wide. I bought a lot of things, but quickly regretted getting when I got home. The pack of grapes I got was not fresh and dirty. A box of vegetables for salad was all wilted to the point that I had to throw away. This has never happened before when shopping at Whole Foods. The can of tomato paste cost 3 times as much as it does at Target. Even products at Whole Foods are not this pricey. Conclusion: This place uses fancy decor and high prices to pretend to be a high-end groceries store, but its products and service reflect the opposite. I will probably shop at other stores such as Trader Joe's from now on. read more

Robotic. Most of the "people" working in these stores can be described in this way, in my opinion. Those working in the deli section are...unpleasant, to say the least. The prep foods always look old and nasty, and the produce; well, peaches (in March!) from Chile? Nahhhhh, im good on that! They got a lotta bulk items at fair prices, but i saw a customer get a finger chopped off for sampling a banana chip before deciding to purchase it! I mean, i understand you guys dont want people "eating all the bulk profits", but cmon, the dude was trying to decide between sweet and unsweetened banana chips, not steal a meal! Robots! Classical conditioning, from the employees to some of the customers, often a sad sight. I usually go in wearing a disguise of some sort, and try to remember my invisibility cloak so i dont become a target! Nah, but seriously, im IN and OUTTA this spot as quick as possible, usually only buying things that are "on sale". On the cashier side of things, there are 3 women that are actually halfway decent...eh, maybe 2 "normal" ones that i just look at and think...damn, i want you guys to be working somewhere that appreciates you, not uses you! Not to be an ass, but i cant see em "lasting" there, they are just too "human" and MOC, is strictly for the drones! Use them, dont let them use you! Its tough, because i need 'goods' and MOC has them, but one must keep in mind, there are a buncha other spots in town with 'goods' that i dont hate myself for spending $ at. I had to laugh out loud a few years ago when someone called this place Market of Privilege. Market of Choice is the nicest looking grocery store you can visit in the Eugene area and has a good selection and friendly staff. What's the price for grocery store utopia in a box? About twice what you would pay at any other grocery store. Market of Choice is fine, but it's the type of store where that one friend you have is constantly shopping and telling you all about it. "Today I went to Market of Choice because I wanted to bake some lavender infused vegan gluten free cupcakes with agave syrup frosting. I bought some organic _____ and some free-range ______ and since I was there I figured I would also get some grass-fed _______. Oh! And they had quinoa on sale for only $24.99 a pound so I bought like three pounds of that. I hear Bolivians are starving to death because we are eating so much quinoa now, but what do I care, I donate money to a family in Bhutan using Kiva. I've done my part." read more

With regards to the deli section where awesome sandwiches are made... They rock! All sorts of spreads were available, along with a variety of cheese, meats, and veggies. Staff was pretty friendly and delivered pretty damn good service. I asked for my veggies and spreads to be separated from the sandwich at the time since I wasn't going to eat it right away. The deli clerk placed each veggie in cute, little baggies to keep 'em fresh and the spreads in enclosed containers as requested. The sandwich itself was wrapped tightly to prevent slippage of the layers...nice touch, indeed! This place is serious competition with the deli at Whole Foods! read more

The pizzas here are fairly good and used to be well priced, but they recently jacked up the price $4-6 bucks a pie which puts them up there with delivery. Since there is better pizza in town which will bring it to your door for the same price, skip Market of Choice and hit up an either better rated or cheaper delivery option. I'm probably the least apt shopper for Market of Choice. My basket is usually filled with the cheapest turkey hotdogs, Western Family buns, cottage cheese, Fritos Scoops, a couple non-organic bananas and the six-pack deal of the day. Oh, and Nalley chili. Not exactly what a Eugene version of Whole Foods shopper would usually cart home in my reusable shopping cart on public transit. But. I have to hand it to them. They're more expensive than other places, but they're well-located and the staff goes out of their way to make you feel at ease. I've had multiple conversations with cashiers who remember who I am (or where I'm from via my ID [ALCOHOL!!]), and the guy who works in the beer and wine section has given me personal recommendations on cheap 'n' best on multiple occasions. Not too shabby. And the deals. It's one of those grocery stores where there aren't everyday low prices. But, there are weekly deals and other savings all the time, if you're willing to switch brands or go with the non-organic (which I'm sure they don't approve of, but will let be if you give them dollah billz). This review is about the wine department at this particular location. I'd had a wine (Frescobaldi Remole 2015) at a restaurant and really liked it. I checked with the wine guy at the Franklin Blvd Market of Choice and he was friendly, helpful, and is checking with his distributor to see if he can find it for me. Other times he's been really helpful and ordered things I was looking for as well. This is the opposite of my experience with the wine department at the 29th St. Market of Choice. Every time I've shopped there the help I got was minimal, very condescending, and generally unhelpful. The wines are way overpriced (more than the other Market of Choice locations). I don't even visit that department ever but I thought I'd about the Frescobaldi Remole 2015. The guy I talked to there basically blew me off and didn't even try to look it up or check with his distributor. He kind of sniffed and said they never see any "Fresca." I'm pretty easy going really but I'd say this guy rates as a real asshole. That is why I never will go to the wine department at the 29th Street Market Choice. Generally, even thought it is really expensive, I really like this store in general and shop there all the time. But never again for wine or beer. read more

That fifth star would come from being more economically friendly. I started going to this Market of Choice before it was a market of choice. It was just the neighborhood store close to U of O housing. But when they rebuilt it and I went in, I was instantly in love. There is no better selection of food to be had anywhere, and the deli is second to none. While I don't live in Eugene any more, any time I am down there, I stop in every time to get some Tofu Pate, a loaf of good bread and something out of the deli. I just hate that I walk out $30.00 poorer when I pick up picnic food. read more

If you want your wedding cake right, do not come here. ZERO accountability for messing up our entire cake, which ended up in the garbage. They accused us of changing our cake flavors, when we didn't. Then were told that we booked it too far in advance so we must have "forgot". I am still waiting on a call back from the "bakery manager". She had very horrible customer service and not even admitting her faults. We met 2 or 3 times discussing the cake then all the sudden it isn't only LATE, but the entire cake is ONE flavor. We ordered an 8 in and 10 in tier cake with TWO flavors and they couldn't even get it right. It is sad because we truly love their cake flavors. If you are having a wedding go to Costco, at least they will get your order right! Totally disappointed. I have not been able to get in contact with upper management to discuss how we were treated. They did refund our delivery fee considering they showed up 6 hours late after our maid of honor called complaining. Won't be back to any MOC again, even for lunch which is unfortunate because they actually have good food! My office also ordered a cake last week for an office birthday party and requested lemon poppyseed and received just plain poppyseed. Dinner party and we want some yummy sweet treats. We cruise into the lot, jammed with cars. We hustle our pudgy selves up to the bakery to eyeball the yummies. I refrained from leaving drool marks on the glass. We agree on what we're ordering and that's when it all turns south. The young lady working was the UNFRIENDLIEST person in the universe. As my lovely said "the only thing worse would have been if she spit on us". Now, i've been high (not in a 420 kinda way) maintenance most of my life. I demand red carpets rolled out at my feet and grapes being fed to me by scantily clad beauty contestants. Not only were these simple demands not met, but basic niceties weren't part of the experience. She behaved as if we were primates playing with bathroom matter and she had to clean it up. We did manage to escape with scraps of dignity and $25 worth of treats. The temptation to directly confront the unhappy young lady schlepping our desserts was avoided. This is by no means the norm of my experience at this particular market of choice, but it seems to be the unfriendly epidemic that rules the roost at this location. read more

Delicious prepared food, truly amazing for a supermarket. It gets a bit chaotic sometimes, and the staff sometimes seems overstressed. That being said, the food choices are superb: healthy, organic and sustainable, for the most part. They also sell big-name brands, and local items. It's very appeasing to the consumer. That being said, it's a little more expensive then other supermarkets. In this case, you are paying for quality and sustainability. For the cafe-going crowd, this is the grocery store. For everyone else, it's the gourmet grocery store. While Costco and Walmart lovers would probably condemn a place like this for it's inflated pricing, I personally feel more satisfied as a customer when supporting less corporate agendas. Especially if it stays in the hand of my local community and keeps me healthier then the other options. In culmination with my thoughts of progression, I enjoy shopping at Market of Choice. It's local, organic, non-GMO, richly flavored, extremely well-prepared, healthy food. What couldn't ya love? read more

Bakery: If you've actually got the gall to quote a $19.99 price, "oh, no, wait a minute, it has raspberries, make that $22.99," for a white chocolate cake...AT LEAST make sure it hasn't been sitting out for a week. I really don't like this location, but it's close to where I live now, so it works. They don't have much selection, which I try to forgive because it's a smaller store, but they clearly cater to the college crowd. Going in there kind of feels like a food commons on campus; lots of immature undergrads acting like fools. M of C tends to be overpriced (as compared to Safeway or Trader Joe's) and they really don't sell better product. Sales aren't really that good either. Produce, bulk and beer sections are really all this place has going for it. But you'll still find much better product at Sundance Market just across the way. read more

I normally find MoC to be one of my favorite places to shop. Two days in a row the guy behind the deli counter was rude and unfriendly to me. Figured the first time he was having a bad day. Tried to be friendly the second time but... I get service work can be hard but will avoid going back. Additionally this particular MoC is smaller and has a much worse selection then the others I have been to. Things tend to be more expensive and there are less options. read more

Terrible terrible team members who clearly don't get paid well and therefore anyone who comes in to demo is treated horribly.
