The front office and maintenance teams are truly outstanding. We had the pleasure of working with Victoria Callihan and she was truly amazing. We moved across the country which is incredibly stressful and she made the leasing process so easy! She was always quick to respond to our emails and phone calls and was able to answer the million questions we asked regarding our move. When we arrived she made it extra special by making sure she was there to "Welcome us home". The apartment was also incredibly clean which we really appreciated because we were able to quickly settle in without having to scrub anything! It's got it's good, and bad... but I would move back in a heartbeat…read more Please, allow me to explain them both, in no particular order (actually mixed a bit, shaken - not stirred): I lived in the Apartments at Boott Mills for 2 years, most of which was with a roommate. I (err... we) had a nice 2 bed + den and 2.5 bath apartment... it was HUGE (1700+ sq feet). Before excepting that one I looked at 2 other apartments/floor plans in the building, and all were great. The normal 2 bed/2 bath was nice, but with most of the apartments the living room and dining room are combined into one large "family" style room. For that reason, the 2/2 didn't work for me, I have large living room furniture, which basically consumed the space and left no room for any dining room. The next lay out was a 2 bed/2 bath/with Den/Laundry room. This one, wasn't quite as advertised. I had assumed before viewing, that the den was one room, and a laundry was attached to it (or somewhere in the apartment). Instead, it was basically a big laundry room = Washer and Dryer + big open space (about 8ft by 8ft). The layout was a little better, but the rooms got a little smaller. So my last option (for the gusto) was the 2 bed/2.5 bath/with den and laundry room. This layout was MUCH more fitting to the description. The laundry room was attached to the kitchen, which took some getting used to, but wasn't a headache. The den, was a room in itself... about 10 ft by 10 ft with a nice walk in closet. Had there been a window in the den it would have been a 3rd bedroom. The master bedroom was a very nice size, with a full bathroom and walk in closet, and the guest bedroom was actually a bit bigger, with a walk in closet as well. What I would consider the guest bedroom's bathroom was right across the dining room and was a full bath. The .5 bath was a slight false advertisement, but in a good way. Usually, to me anyway, .5 means a toilet and sink. This one had a standing shower... which worked out great when guest were over. But then 2.75 baths just sounds silly. The den was large enough it became like a sitting/TV room. Not the main entertainment room, but it was away from the windows, quiet, and could fit a day bed. So it could have someone over for the night if we needed the space. The beautiful exposed bricks added a lot of character to the space, and the large windows were great when you wanted to let in the light. I never heard my neighbors, above, beside, nothing. I would occasionally here one of the kids run down the hall through the entry door, but you'd have to be close to the door to hear it. So it was never a bother with anyone on noise, and I never had anyone ask me to keep it down either. In addition, I had the most amazing view of the Merrimack River. I was on the 3rd floor, so I was able to look around, and on a nice day the huge windows (6ft wide and 10ft tall!) could be opened to let in the nice air/breeze. Out of my 2 years there, I had VERY few complaints about this great little spot. The exposed brick wasn't the greatest insulator, so in the winter you could feel a chill if you were close to the walls, and in the summer you really had to crank the AC to keep it comfortable inside. Plus with all of the space we had, it took a lot to get the whole place one comfy setting. Parking wasn't the greatest, but it was nice at the same time. You had an option of the top, private lot, which required a resident sticker to park in and was located at the entry of the Boott Mills complex (museum, cotton lofts, apartments, etc). The other option was to park in the John Street parking garage, directly across the street (about a block walk give or take). The garage was a bit cheaper to park in per month (paid through the apartment), but you would have to deal with the weekend events/concerts clogging up the parking spots. The top lot was a bit more to park in, when I moved in they had a promotion that allowed me to park in the lot for the same price as the garage, so I took advantage of that. It was a little less of a walk, but then you had to dig your car out of the snow to leave in bad weather. All in all, I would move back if I had the chance. Management (least when I was there) was very friendly and helpful, and a majority of them would call you by name, and make idle conversation with you. There were not a lot of amenities (pool, tennis courts, etc) but the location was in downtown Lowell, so you were close to most anything you wanted to do. Being right on the river was nice as well, you could walk or jog on the river walk if you had the interest. The Tosgas(?) arena was within walking distance, so you could catch plenty of concerts or hockey games (Lowell Devils). If you're looking for something that has a nice look and feel, great location, and you don't mind a little bit of a walk for/from parking. I highly suggest this location for your apartment/rental needs.

In July 2021 my boyfriend & I moved into this apartment, in the Merrimack building unit 101. The unit we got was so dark it was like a cave, and on top of that there were NO lights in the unit aside from in the kitchen & bathroom. There were holes in the wall that they had plastered over, and never painted the wall again after covering them (see photos). It took us WEEKS to get maintenance to come in to paint over the patches. Blinds were broken as well in both the living room and bedroom (see photos) and it took them over 3+ weeks for them to replace them. There was a giant dried up spider's nest on the ceiling of our bedroom & a roach in our bathroom (both pictured!) The worst was the giant RAT on our patio! When we informed the leasing office of this they couldn't care less and said "it happens". There were multiple circumstances where maintenance just walked right into our unit without calling or speaking to my boyfriend or I first because they didn't think we were home. Do you want to live somewhere they go into your unit unannounced? I wish I had installed cameras...I can only wonder how many times they did that when we WERE NOT there to catch them. While they don't mind coming in unannounced, they certainly don't do the jobs you ask them to do! NONE OF THIS IS EVEN THE WORST PART! It got even worse AFTER we moved out. We broke our lease early, it was supposed to end in September 2022 and we moved out in April 2022. We gave them a 60 day notice, as well as paid a $4,108 lease break fee as agreed to in the lease. Upon moving out we had no issues, or so I thought. 2 months after moving out I received a letter in the mail from a collections agency stating that Cabot Crossing sent us to collections for $275 worth of cleaning fees! Which is absolutely ridiculous considering we left our unit in 10x better condition than it was upon moving in, it was basically spotless and I took PLENTY of photos & videos to prove it if they'd like to challenge me on that. Also, $125 of these "cleaning fees" were for carpet cleaning when we were in a unit that was ALL HARDWOOD!! How does it get any more fraudulent than that? They also never even attempted to contact us prior to sending these "cleaning fees" to collections which is illegal. When I got this collection letter I immediately called and the office said they had no idea what cleaning fees that it was referring to, and I even have an email from them from June 2022 stating our account shows ZERO BALANCE. It has now been over a year since we moved out and I have attempted to contact both cabot crossing & the property management company hundreds of times with no response. Every time I'm told there's new management, in January 2023 the new manager told me yes these charges were incorrect & that he would reach out to the collections agency to get them removed. Great right?? Nope. He never did it, and I have called & emailed countless times since then to follow up and get no response. My next step is going to be just showing up and refusing to leave until they fix this situation. The ONLY response I have gotten was from the property management company as a reply to my BBB review, stating that we owe these fees because we broke our lease early...which doesn't make any sense considering I have a receipt FROM THEM stating we paid our lease break fee and that it's for these fraudulent cleaning fees!!! I have uploaded all the proof I have proving everything I've stated in this review is 100% true. Please for the love of god do not move here, unless you want your credit thrown in the trash. This was my first apartment after turning 18 and if I could do anything to go back in time and stop myself from signing the lease I would. You have been WARNED. Also, as I am sure someone from Cabot Crossing or Two Coast Living management will be reading this, I will NOT stop until my situation is rectified. I expect to be contacted ASAP.

Yesterday we sent in a request online about our refrigerator, which was broken. Within MINUTES, the same guy was at our door. He said he would get a thermometer to monitor the problem and be back in 30minutes. Instead, he came back with two other men within 15min and had a BRAND NEW REFRIGERATOR for us, BETTER than the one we had before!!! Fast maintenance repairs, GREAT rent prices, and safe neighborhoods. It's family owned so they treat every customer like family. I've literally never had a better landlord in my whole time living in New England.

The management and maintenance teams are responsive and professional. Service requests are handled promptly--often within a day--and the work is completed thoroughly. Communication has always been clear, and I've felt that concerns are taken seriously. In a large, professionally managed community, it's reassuring to know the on-site team is attentive and reliable. That has certainly been my experience at MassMills.

If your delivery has been misplaced in the package room, someone will leave their desk and help you search for it. Emails are always answered by a human. Maintenance requests are answered in a timely and effective manner. And, big plus, they are cheerful, too! Parking always available; it's not free but you don't have to hunt for a space or walk a half mile to the door. The apartments are older but lovely with high ceilings and an abundance of light. They are very quiet. Heat & air-conditioning are included and efficacious. Dawn, viewed from my living room as the sun rises over the church roofs across the river, is a blessing of beauty that is not usually available to folks in the city. Things that would make living here better: Washers & dryers that are commercially sized and use credit cards and not quarters. The current appliances are house-sized but require just as much per load as larger machines. A table for folding would also be nice. On the downside: Pulling out on to Bridge St from the parking lot or making a left turn into the parking lot from the same. But that's just Lowell.

Not only are the grounds kept wonderfully, the pond is beautiful, and the landscape looks like a Christmas card. Not only are the amenities fantastic and beautiful. Not only are the neighbors nice and friendly. Not only is the rent affordable. Not only is the location easy from both 93 and 495... ...but the Lodge at Ames Pond has the best staff I've ever encountered. First make sure to book yourself a showing with Farida (or Greg, I'm sure he's nice too). She is up-front, clear, and a fantastic individual to work with. It's not a sales pitch with Farida, but rather an exploration of what would work best for you and your family. She knows the property inside and out, and loves it just as much as we do. You'll leave with a signed lease, and a smile on your face. Everything is easy, UDR makes renting from a REIT a breeze with their online systems and quick turn around. The maintenance crew keeps the property wonderful, responds to tickets immediately, and keeps all this snow out of the way. There are other places out there, but seriously, stop looking. RUN…read more - Packages stolen (they blame the couriers yet the door is unlocked 24/7 since 09/25 - after being told for months they're "working on it" I was told today there is no plan to secure the door in the future, I was essentially lied to for over 6 months) - A week or more without an appliance is the norm - twice in two years - as is being unable for 72 hours to use your shower due to it having to be reglazed - twice in two years with no alternative arrangements offered - all with no rental credit. - Two full time front office staff, one full time and one part-time maintenance staff (these guys are really good and deserve massive kudos for their work!) for a 13 building complex with approximately 15-20 apartments each - it's a skeleton crew. - Have an after hours emergency? No staff on site after hours. I called the emergency number for a flooded bathroom due to a sink supply line leak - no one responded until days later. - Literally the only non-threatening email we get from management is the once yearly cookout - paid for by Xfinity and not UDR. - They constantly remind you of your liability while accepting no responsibility themselves. And everything is an additional fee... - "Secure" (unsecure) package room? Fee. - Parking? Fee. - Security cameras mentioned in the lease - never show any useful footage of thefts/crimes - Wanna have a cigar outside on your balcony? Can't - total non-smoking property, even outdoors. - Pet rent - people are shocked when they hear how much I pay, they tell me what they pay and it's always an order of magnitude less. - Any utilities included? Are you kidding me, even though, without housing assistance, the cheapest 1 bedroom/1 bath apartment is currently going for $2,525 a month. Look elsewhere. They put on a good show but the veil drops pretty quickly after you move in.

You can also call, and they enter it for you right away. The maintenance crew usually very prompt. For almost all my maintenance requests, the turn around was with 48 hours. 4.There is a nice swimming pool that's open in summer. Cons: 1. Severe roach and mice problem. Roaches are there all the time, no matter how clean you keep your apartment. On top of roaches, in winter you have mice coming in thru heating ducts and holes in the wall behind the stove in the kitchen. I have had mice problems in both this winter and last winter. If you call maintenance about mice, they seem to get a little hostile over the phone. Last time when I complained about mice, they told me that their pest control guy comes only once a week and I have to wait for him. He came once, didn't find anything and he left without doing anything. Again while cooking, I see a little mouse that comes out from behind the control panel of the oven and then run back in. I call back again and they tell me to wait for another one more week before he comes again. And they also told me that all he can do is set traps. If he doesn't catch it, there is nothing they can do. Long story short: Be prepared to share your apartment with mice and roaches. 2. When I moved in my rent was around $950/month. In 2 years they raised it to about $1250/month. I was signing leases shorter than a year and they increase rent with every lease. So right now I am paying about $1250 for a one bedroom mice/roach infested apartment in Lowell! 3. Its happened at least 2 times (probably more) in my last 2 years of stay where they suddenly switched off hot water in the morning. When I call them they tell me that the guys who fix hot water come without notice and there is nothing they can do. Also one time they shut water off altogether (again in winter). I had to get out for work, so I go to local CVS and get a few gallons of water so that I could take a quick shower before leaving for work.

If you want one that's been refurbished you're going to be paying probably about 200 bucks more a month. This frequent breakdowns. They're very slow in fixing them until you threaten to call the city and have them come out then they fix them. The other thing they do is that there's a condominium complex above them. They encourage the apartment residents to walk up into the condo association with their dogs. They don't clean up after their dogs and it's disgusting. And the simple thing they could do is they've not done is they could put a notice on all of the buildings they have that's saying do not go up into the condominiums that's private property. They don't do that. They actually subtly encourage you to go up there which is just ridiculous. And the fact is there's an awful lot of section 8 housing in there so you can imagine the type of quality people that are walking up into the condos.

They were the only place I contacted in Chelmsford who would allow a 6-month lease and also accommodate our dog. It was an easy application and approval process, and we signed sight unseen (aside from photos and a video walk through). The complex has lovely grounds, a nice pool, and is easily accessible to Rte 3 and 495. I also loved how close it was to the Bruce Freeman trail and took evening or morning walks every day. The apartment was modern, spacious, clean, and bright. There are elevators, wide hallways and plenty of parking. There's also a choice for additional paid garage parking (I just used the free outdoor space). Any maintenance tickets were taken care of quickly and successfully. I would definitely recommend Kensington for either a short or long term lease!
