I looked for an alternative to surgery and found out about Dr. Schaeffer's office and how he takes on big veins with ultrasound guided sclerotherapy. Unlike surgery there is no down time. A week prior Karen calls me to let me know I had one treatment left on my package, which I thought was weird since I had an appointment scheduled. I called the office the day prior and they realized that yes in fact I was already booked for the next day. Unfortunately I did not show up for my appointment, but as soon as I remembered I called to reschedule and left a message. No one called me back, so I called the office again and Karen picked up only to tell me that my treatment was lost because I missed the appointment. I realize I missed the appointment, but 1. No effort was made on their part to remind me of my appointment which should be taken into consideration , especially when I was never made aware in writing or verbally that you would loose a treatment for not showing up. Karen said but what if you don't show up for your next appointment, I said then you could charge me a no show fee on my credit card. Karen ended hanging up on my face.

It was almost impossible to reach anyone, and the front desk lady (who seems to be related to him) was extremely rude and disorganized. She messed up my appointment dates multiple times- once I drove an hour just to find the office closed. She also kept confusing my name and didn't seem to understand how to handle basic scheduling. Because of all the confusion and poor communication, I ended up leaving and stopping treatment altogether. Very disappointing experience overall, even though Dr. Borenstein himself seemed okay.

The office is still listed in the phonebook under the old address. When I finally spoke to the office and asked where they are now she insisted that she told me that they moved , which is not true. When I finally got my mom to the correct office that day a little while later we were then told he refused to treat my mother because she lived in assisted-living. So I spent the whole day running around with an 87-year-old woman from office to office only for them to tell us they refuse to treat her . I don't know how this is possibly legal all because of where she lives. Sounds like discrimination to me

From the…read moremoment I walked in the door the staff was hostile and rude and ableist openly making fun of me. Dr. Mark refused to wear a mask and actually slammed the door on my walker! He also had his receptionist slam the receptionist window in my face because I asked them to wear a respirator in an ongoing airborne pandemic. The receptionists also threatened to call the police on me because I asked for a letter saying he was refusing to do the examination for disability and refusing accessible accommodations. This is the only time I have ever reported a medical healthcare worker to the Florida Dept of Health as well as the AMA. This is not a doctor that should be allowed to practice and should never be assigned to vulnerable immune compromised patients from the social security disability office. I was thankfully assigned a different doctor for my evaluation who did mask with their staff and was the exact opposite of this office. I would say run away but if you are disabled then get out of there as soon as you are physically able to do so. Never ever go here. If I could give a negative review I would of below zero I would.
