When I am in a pinch and don't feel like fighting the lines at Menards I come here. it's pretty quick and easy to find what I am looking for. believe it or not this is my go to store for bird seed. they typically run low prices on bird food. The staff is typically helpful in knowing where everything is. my only gripe is the lines. they seem to only have one person on the registers when I go into the store. read more

**AMAZING customer experience story** The other day I came in looking for a pair of heavy-duty scissors to cut off a piece of plastic that was hanging down from my car making a terrible scraping noise. After a minute of wandering around, an employee, Patrick, asked if I was finding everything alright. I told him what I was looking for and why I needed them. He lead me to the scissors, none of them big or strong enough for what I needed. He asked if I had a utility knife. I said no. He then pulled his out and asked if we could go look at it together, and "maybe save me some money." He then proceeded to, in the 33 degree weather, crouch down to cut this super difficult piece of plastic off of my car for me!! He then explained to me what it was and even suggested his mechanic. It was literally so kind. Instead of just trying to sell me some cheap scissors that we both knew wouldn't work, he took time out of his day to help me with this, at no benefit to him. Ace is convenient - for those days that you don't want to go to the REALLY BIG hardware store... The selection is pretty good. The prices are slightly above fair market value - but I expect to pay the premium for the convenience. It's a great place to get keys made. What more can I say about a hardware store? I love Ace Hardware. Their spray paint selection is the best for all the projects I do especially when their brand is on sale 2 for $5! The employees are very helpful and friendly. I always have to find someone to help me figure out something and they are ready and willing to spend time with me. I also love how they have so many other things I need for all the projects I do. It's just so much easier than going to Lowe's or Home Depot if you just need small items. read more

This Ace Hardware is in the same shopping center on the NW corner of College and Quivira as the Hen House, Revocup, and the Brazil Market. The staff seems to be friendly and helpful. I needed some power strips (time to plug in the new heated mattress pad I bought to keep warm and toasty in this promises-to-be-frigid winter) and they had some perfectly fine store brand ones on sale for about $3.50! I was also glad to find that they carry Simple Green cleaning products -- this is a product that's popular in California, where I used to live. It's an early "ecological" cleaner. It dissolves dirt and grease rapidly, and I was pleased to see that now it comes in lemon scent -- the original has a sort of sickly sweet fragrance that was its only drawback. Anyway, I needed some heavy-duty cleaner, so I stocked up. I shop at this store and the one on 87th Street (in Louisburg Square) and they both have helpful staff and just about everything you could need for home projects. And they're much more manageable than the giant places like Home Depot or Lowe's, especially when you only need a few items. read more

There are some times you just need a Home Depot or Lowe's. If you need a bunch of stuff at one time, they're great for that. If you need a couple things (or just one) and want to get in and out a heck of a lot quicker, there are the smaller stores like Westlake Ace. For that, this location is perfect. They do pack a lot in to their seemingly small space. Paints, key cutting, tools, and all of the other basics as well as plenty of things above any beyond what you would expect from a smaller store. The Westlake brand as a whole seems to be pretty good at that. This one is just near my house...so I end up here most. Prices seem fair to me, though I am by no means an expert at hardware pricing. Parking is really easy as it's along a little used parking lot in between Hen House and CVS, only sharing its parking with a quiet bar and a bookstore. Staff are friendly as they so often are at these smaller stores (but they tend to be at the bigger ones too). Staff:Customer ratio is usually much, much better than at the big stores so not only can you get in and out quicker due to size, but you can get in and out quicker due to speed of service and assistance. read more

I have visited this hardware store several times. The staff is OK if you can find someone to ask a question. Many a time I have stood there looking for something and had employees walk by without stopping to ask if I needed help. Also I usually go there looking for items listed in their weekly ad. The Ad comes out on Wednesdays and by the time I stop in on Saturday they are out of the sale items. This has happened the last 3 visits. The manager apologizes and blames it on their corporate office. They don't off rain checks, so my visit is wasted. After three strikes they are out, won't be coming back here. read more

Nice neighborhood hardware store has pretty much everything that I need, same as the big box stores have, in about the same price range, but with much better service. If I have a big project that requires a lot of stuff, I'm more likely to head over to the Depot; but how often does that happen? I'm mechanically inept & don't get heavily into the whole DIY home-and-garden thing, so my more typical hardware store visit entails running in for a box of light bulbs, or a power strip, or a replacement part for the screen-door handle that broke last week. The folks here are helpful and patient with my dumb questions, and make shopping here as easy as possible. read more

This location always provides superior customer service. I've not once felt rushed or like I'm an inconvenience. Today two separate employees spent almost 45 minutes helping me find what I needed and even took the time to install it for me. I will definitely continue to shop here. read more
