After shopping at other Westlake Ace Hardware locations for 20+ years, I ended up living near this store on Santa Fe. It's simply astounding how awful this particular store is! Every single visit I get employees who don't have a clue about hardware or where to find things in their store. And they always are desperately trying to sell stuff that's not even close to what I need! (Commission?) Today was my last visit. Four employees and three of them were totally useless. The clerk at the counter was too apathetic to bag my items, so I had to bag everything myself. Got to car and some random stranger starts yelling profanity at me from across the parking lot. Truly, this is THE worst Ace on the planet! Poor selection, terrible customer service, and all around bad vibe. read more

Great store! Super close and go to for all my needs home improvement, etc. Huge selection. Went in the last hour and was helped by a very nice guy who helped me with all my paint needs (I have no knowledge on this), super kind, helpful, and overall good conversation! I have been going to this Westlake for almost 10 years and they have always been good until recently. I had bought a Pressure Canner at the Prairie Village store and it was defective. I went to the 87th store to return it, since it is closer. I had my receipt and everything still in the box ready to return. The clerk was very nice and tried to return the canner, but the system said it did not exist. I said it was a special order item and that it came from the warehouse so it should be in there. I had the receipt. She then called the manager over, this is when the trouble started. Mike the manager came over looked at my receipt, tried to pull it up in the system and it didn't show. I said he could do an override and return it. He looked at me like I was a 3 headed alien and said, "I don't want to! Take it back to Prairie Village and let their store take the hit!" Turned around and walked away. The clerk apologized for him and was shocked. I said don't worry I will call corporate on him. I then took the canner to Prairie Village and they returned it with no hassle. I then called corporate and reported Mike and they said he would go through a retraining class. This was our 3rd stop to find electrical putty. Charles Fleckenstein was our hero! He greeted us at the door, listened to what we needed and immediately showed us to the product. No one really asked me if I needed help, although they asked the people that came in right behind me, but I found what I needed and checked out fine. Later, we had a return for some stuff I overbought and the return was no problem. read more

This is my new "go to" place! Upon my first visit, I had an unpleasant service experience (new, young.. you know the general story). I'm big on customer service so I sent a simple email to the store. I received a very quick and personal response from Bob, the manager. I loved that they took my experience to heart and corrected the "problem" immediately. I was invited back and, of course, I went back as I need more stuff. :) I went on a particularly busy day for them (HUGE paint sale) but everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, was so nice! All of the staff were so busy but they all offered to help me find something, mix something, check out, etc. Drew, another manager, was so incredibly nice and helpful. I've been back several more times and he always remembers my name. It's such a small gesture but one that really makes a regular customer feel great! Now as for the store... they always seem to have items that I need in stock. I've never left there empty handed. The store is nicely laid out and seems pretty clean for a hardware store. I'm a painting fool and I love the new paint department. Great colors and they now carry Valspar paint. So.. if you're looking for a great local hardware store, look no further than this little gem! read more

I agree with the staff remarks, they are friendly and helpful. I've really only been here to pick up supplies for our BBQ smoker. They have natural lump charcoal and a variety of different woods other than just mesquite and hickory. They prices are good for these items. read more

It isn't helpful when I'm dawdling...I dawdle when I'm thinking about a big purchase and I prefer to be left alone... but hey, I won't complain about someone doing their job. :-) It's not as big as a Home Depot but I get my questions answered and people actually appear to enjoy working there. read more

When I lived in the area (by JoCo Central Library) this was my go to for all things hardware. Staff has always been helpful. When I moved further south (115th & Metcalf), I drive the distance to frequent the store. I've gone in, described what I was doing, and the staff knew how to help. read more

I enjoy going here everyone is friendly and helpful when needed. Reminds me of a small town hardware store with friendly faces ready to show you where the items are you need. Everything you need is always in stock also which is a plus. Hands down this is the Best small hardware store around. read more
