It was decided that a male caretaker would be best for my spouse due to bathing and communicating needs for 2 to 3 days per week for 4 hours each time. Also, a house cleaner would be sent every 3 weeks for 3 to 4 hours. A few days later, an Agrace staffer called and said there was really no way they could send a male caretaker as they had very, very few of them available. The woman caretaker was very nice even though she had never assisted anyone with dementia. She was competent and able to get my spouse to bathe 4 times out of the 6 times she visited. Regarding the house cleaner, they were never able to find someone to clean my home, as they had promised. Finally, I got a call from them on a Monday evening at 6 pm to inform me that there was no one available for the next day's shift from 10 am - 2 pm. They then sent me a bill for $131 for the Tuesday they never showed up. I called but was informed that they told me a staff member would come on Tuesday and I was responsible for the cancellation so I had to pay. This was so untrue. Please be careful using them -- the initial person who comes over will promise you the moon even though he/she knows they cannot possibly meet your needs. Also, to charge me $131 for an appointment never kept by them, and based on a phone call they made to me, is really reprehensible.

We chose the Jefferson for many reasons, one being the community and that she would be able to age in place here thus making that cost minimal over time, now having literally no other choice but to move not even a year after moving in means that was an exorbitent amount per month (she lived here from December to the end of March). We were told by Tauni that we wouldn't have any issues with the VA getting approved for this specific location for Aid and Attendance because many have gotten it approved. However, when we met with the VA their response was polar opposite of this. That the facility did not meet the requirements and while she would get some funding, that none of the cost of the facility could qualify for being counted towards what she would get ultimately leaving her over $700 short a month for the facility. Added to the fact that this has caused immense amount of mental and emotional stress for both her and I and they are sending us a invoice for the total PLUS additional outstanding balances, which there should be none is frustrating. Add in that the food was meh, the games were the same card games every week which my grandmother hated and they kept promising to get new games going but never did. That the hallways smelled like cigarette smoke and gave me a headache every visit. Overall just needs some improvements.

I was initially impressed as Gloria seemed to be sharp and on the ball. Details needed to be worked out, she needed to get set up as a vendor with My Choice Wisconsin, Mike's managed care organization, and we needed to work out a schedule for Mike's care. This is where Gloria being sharp and on the ball ended. Gloria scheduled for a caregiver to come over and meet Mike and me, but he never showed up. Gloria did not call to inquire how the meeting went. She learned we got stood up when I reached back out to her. Then I was expecting to hear from her and after six days without a call I finally managed to reach her. She told me she'd dropped her phone in water, losing my number in the process, and was just preparing to send me an email. I pointed out that the Case Manager at My Choice Wisconsin I'd had her speaking with would have been able to give her my phone number. Either way, six days when she knew I was expecting to hear from her? We then set up another appointment where she was going to send another caregiver over to meet with Mike and me, and I scheduled this meeting for a time when one of Mike's nurses would also be there. Again we were stood up. Nine days later I still had received no communication from Gloria. I texted her several times but could tell my texts were going unread. I tried calling her several times, she didn't answer and never returned my call. I finally had my boyfriend call her, pretending to be a wrong number and she answered his call. I managed to get ahold of the caregiver she was to send over the second time and he told me that he had quit working for Alora Home Health before he actually started because he, too, was concerned about Gloria's lack of communication. I had really liked Gloria when I first met her, but sadly, all she ended up doing was wasting a lot of my time and frustrating me with her lack of communication. I also learned that she didn't fully complete the application with My Choice Wisconsin. I'd recommend Gloria as a chit chat/coffee friend, but not as someone to do business with.
