I was here for a kids' birthday party recently. The time was divided into time upstairs in the Playyard. That area was pretty crowded for the number of kids and adults involved. But once we moved downstairs into the field with the bounce houses, the kids were able to let wild and have fun. This party was structured for 2 hours, where the kids got to play for the first 1.5 hours and then we're served pizza in a separate room for the last half hour. My kids were pretty hungry after running around for an hour, but I could have prepared better if I knew it was going to be 1:30 before lunch would be served. All in all, seems like a fun place for a birthday party for kids, especially if you have a wider range of age ranges coming. It also seems accommodating for a larger group of people. read more

Over the past seven years, my children (ages 9 and 7) have participated in Active Childcare, After School Sports, and Summer Fun Camp at Westmont Yard. What stands out most is the interactive coaching staff, exceptional management team, and thoughtful planning of fun activities and fieldtrips. The facility has three spacious indoor sports fields that allow kids to be physically active, regardless of unpredictable weather. My only "complaint" is that my kids are always reluctant to leave at pickup time--they return home each day happy and pleasantly tired! read more

We've had a very mixed experience with Westmont Yard. It seems like the coaches forget these kids are infact kids. The bus that picks up my kids is not allowed tot talk for the rest of the year because they where loud one day. If they talk they get time out. Yesterday one child ate snack on the field so they're threatening to take snack away from the class tomorrow. I'm not sure why you would just pull the child not listening and have a talk with that child. Yelling and threatening a group of kids doesn't accomplish anything other than showing that they can't trust adults. Some of these coaches need to learn to ask for breaks if they need them. This isn't the first time this has happened and I've talked with other parents. This is not the experience I wanted for my child. read more

To follow up on my latest review of this establishment approximately 2 years ago. In that time frame I stayed far far away from this place and I must say my life expectancy doubled. If you don't understand what I'm referring to you must understand the sheer grime of this place. I'm almost certain this place has never been cleaned in its existence. I sent my child to this establishment for a week and you would think he was getting an hourly wage. I open up those glass doors and find my child on his hands and knees busting his ass cleaning the floors while a smug counselor towers over his small frame laughing. I cannot express my feelings toward this situation in words. Another interesting encounter I have had with the staff involves sunscreen. I provide my child with sunscreen like a good loving parent should do in the hot Illinois sun. He applied the sunscreen as usual, the staff wasn't aware of it and asked my child if he wanted sunscreen that they provide. Without asking the staff forces there hands on my child and rubs with low quality sunscreen all over his skin. When I picked him up hours later to this dilemma he had clumps of it all over his body. This substance felt more like glue the way it was sticking to him. I scrubbed that shit off his body all night, however I was no match to this stuff. I drove him to urgent care and when the nurse looked at him she identified the substance to be some sort of glue adhesive. His skin was in shambles. Multiple businesses exist in this complex yet it's a mystery why it hasn't pulled the plug. Employees/staff are clueless as there seems to be high turnover. Pompous, unfriendly attitudes. Don't be fooled by the glamorous look of the outside. Also, it's very inconveniently located on the Eastbound side of 63rd Street making it hard to access during peak traffic times. Would never recommend this place for anything, not even to take a leak! Send your kids to Darien Sportsplex which is better run and easier to access from Plainfield Rd or 75th Street. read more

Moved to the area in July and was looking for a new before and after school care program for my daughter and I have to say that I'm glad we found Westmont Yard. During this pandemic they have followed all the precautions necessary to keep our kids safe all while having fun. My daughter is extremely happy. I can't even get her to stay home on days there's no school lol. Thank you all for doing an amazing job given the curve balls this pandemic has hit us with. They do not allow you to makeup a class that you missed at the end of a session, even if your child is sick or has a birthday party. I had discussed with staff ahead of time, about making up a session knowing my child had his birthday party on a class day, and was advised I could make up a class the following session as long as within 1 month. I called to make up the class accordingly, and then was denied. Earlier in session, when I called them about a makeup class, they say they are all full, but when I showed up for the class at the door, the class was not full. Don't waste your money. The coach seems exhausted all the time. The facility is not the cleanest gym. read more

This place is great for young kids soccer. They have classes for different age groups. My girls love it. I also see they have an area for birthdays/parties for kids where they have separate sections of climbable inflatables. I cannot comment on this area as we have yet to utilize it (but it looks like the kids - and some adults - are having a good time on the inflatables). The management is very helpful. One area for improvement would be better hours on the food area and maybe places for waiting. They have bleachers, but it's not very easy to keep a child occupied on a bleacher for an hour. Maybe tables? Just a thought. Anyhow - I recommend. read more

We have only been here for open play, so I can't review 75% of the stuff they have going on here. Camps, teams, classes, a preschool, yup there's lots to do at the yard. But the open play is perfect for my kids to expend all that extra energy when the weather isn't great. For $7 a kid, there's 4 bounce houses, a large play structure, a gigantic AstroTurf field, and a smaller play area that's perfect for kids 6 and under. You can even bring your own food(or grab something from the vending machines) as long as it stays out of the play areas. The staff is nice, the bathrooms are clean, and it's never been too crowded during the day. That's 5 stars in my book. read more

If you're an out of shape ex-soccer player like me, Westmont Yard is a great place to go embarrass yourself against some young bucks. There's tons of space and they have end lines instead of walls so playing here is much more similar to outdoor soccer than other winter facilities. Everything is extremely clean and there's even a burger place right at the entrance so after burning off a bunch of calories you can put them back in without having to venture too far. For kids, adult leagues, or even a private event it's worth the half hour trip outside the city. read more

Oh Westmond Yard. How I wanted to love thee. Stepping inside your doors for the first time I saw such potential for us. Years of quality time we would spend together. Kids frolicking in the yard and birthday parties for all. High hopes. Alas, it is not meant to be. Offering a range of sporting, play and daycare options for all ages. You caught my eye immediately. So we tried things out. I used your website to setup our first meeting. A soccer course for my 6 year old. It was a so-so first experience together. The class was disorganized and overcrowded, but my son had fun. Not the kind of fun where he was begging to come back, but he enjoyed his time with you. I must admit, your constant emails of happenings and "last chances" to signup kept you in my mind. Mission accomplished. So we tried again. And the problems flourished. You did not call during the times I needed you most! Like when my child's sport class is getting cancelled for the day. You know the times I speak of. Don't pretend as if it didn't happen. Commitment. It's not a hard word. And if you can't keep it, at least let me know. A call/text/email, ANYTHING! I was willing to chalk the first instance of this up to your busy schedule. You are juggling a lot of balls, I get it. My time on the other hand, is apparently an open cash register. Take as much as you want. Never mind the time spent traveling to your establishment, my schedule which I arranged around our meetings or those of my kids. But to pull this stunt again. Just weeks later you leave me sitting their all alone, again! With no notification of cancellation or any sort of formidable reason. Sure, you can offer your consolations of free open play or having my son take the days class with kids twice his age. We both know this is not the agreement we came to. Clearly you are incapable of learning from your mistakes. Commitment and loyalty are not words you know. What's worse, when I confront you about them you don't go above and beyond to make me feel better. I've run into types like yours in the past. More often than not, they do anything in their power to please. But not you. Well, I'm wise to you now. You continue to lead me down a path of disappointment and regret. So this is it. Clean break. We MIGHT be able to try this again if you can prove you cleaned up your act. read more

Awful experience. The adult leagues are a joke. The refs never blow their whistle, even on side kicks. They scream at you if you ask what the call was because they never explain themselves. I have witnessed a ref scream at a player to "shut up" multiple times and tell players to "go read the rule books" when all the players asked what the call was. The refs like to approach you waving their finger at you. If you ask me refs are not allowed to do that. Teams complain to the front office and they don't do crap. I am NEVER going to play here again It's not even two star worthy read more

I am super impressed with this play place! My family had my nephew's third birthday party here, and I was impressed with all of the different playrooms and activities for the kids. The guy who is overseeing everything and keeping his eyes on the kids and interacting with them was really great as well. There are bounce houses, soccer fields, slides, jungle gyms and more. Surprisingly, all of the adults were not bored and enjoyed watching the kids play and playing along with them and some of the activity areas. And, last but not least, the chicken was really good. My brother is super picky and she said it was the main reason he wanted to have the party there. LOL. I have been to this place years ago when it first opened up to watch my friends play soccer. I Recently took the kids I nanny there because they begged me and told me there is tons of play areas for them! This place is the BEST for kids! They have blow up jumpers that they can play on they also have 3 floor Playground and an entire indoor Soccer Field that the kids can run on and play and exhausted and burn energy on. I highly recommend bringing your kids here to play especially on a day off from school! read more

My girls (4&5) take soccer classes with coach Benny and they love it. He is enthusiastic, great with kids and they look forward to it every week. The prices are reasonable and include the option to play in their "open play" area with bouncy houses and a jungle gym. The only negative is that the only food option during the day is the Canyons restaurant which is grossly overpriced for food that is "meh" at best. read more

Be warned! Bouncey house collapsed while the kids were in it. I witnessed. There are no supervisors or representatives from Westmont Sports to make sure the bouncy houses are safe. Both of my boys did camps here over the summer. One of them was enrolled in the soccer camp and the other in the summer fun camp that is run through their Active Childcare Program. For me, I couldn't have had a better experience! My older son who was in the soccer camp loved his coaches and looked forward to camp every day...I was a little nervous about putting him in a camp doing soccer all day long but he was eager to go back every day! Also, my husband and I both work so we took advantage of the before and after care that the camps offer. I was able to drop my boys off before camp started and pick them up after work around 6:30..even though the soccer camp ended at 3:30. The kids got fed lunch and snacks and got to play on the jumpies and the play tower as well as organized games and field trips. My other son was enrolled in the fun camp and he loved it! They went on field trips, did art crafts and experiments, played games, went to the park, played on the bouncies and play tower, etc. The teachers were all fun and super friendly! Both my boys wouldn't want to come home! I definately recommend the Westmont Yard Summer camps for anyone looking for something to do with their child over the summer! read more

This review is solely from a sports/athletic facility and opportunity point of view. It is combining my experience with the location from a time period ranging from mid 2010 through mid 2014. I will address the major cons, especially VIOLENCE. Overall the fields available are ok. It can comport three soccer games at once (or lacrosse or football) although the pitches are narrow. The turf is of standard quality and sometimes there's too much rubber build up but you can't really get away from that (even at Players in Naperville). Unfortunately things go downhill from the possibilities here, if you're not a little kid or pre-teen. Leagues are pricey given the amount of playtime. The referees are often unprepared and the biggest issue comes from so many players being hot-headed/dirty/prone to violence. It is very common to see harsher challenges, a leg sneakily stuck out, or arguments/defamation going on. A ref's job is to protect the players and that just doesn't happen. Open play tends to be chaotic with far too many people allowed to participate and out of the usual 2-hour allocation, maybe 1.5hr will be taken by total play with some lucky people able to play for an hour or more, others will maybe get fifteen to twenty minutes total. - Violence - Many fouls are missed but harsher things aren't punished as they should. Sometimes the ref's do try proceeding as they should but it's such a rare thing to see a consistent game. There have been cases of being being attacked getting red cards! I was present in many cases (from watching games to actually being part of it all) of severe displays of violence. I have heard a bunch of racist comments, saw punches and kicks go completely unpunished and immediately dismissed by the referees. Often times on games where there's a tight goal line, teams close on the table, or near the end of the season, there'll be numerous cases of violence that go unpunished. Rugby tackling someone nowhere near the ball? Ideally a red card, at Westmont Yard perhaps a foul. Getting swiped behind your back while you're looking at the ball, then taken to the ground where three people attack you, with someone lunging to punch your face and someone else to kick you? Maybe one red card will be thrown out, certainly the one person being attacked will be getting one too for "provoking it" somehow. The kids at the front desk are very unprepared to deal with anything, they're hourly paid on something irrelevant too, why care? Offenders are usually the same guys (sometimes majority of a team) but management does nothing. - Conclusion - Overall Westmont Yard is a great missed opportunity. Little kids and less demanding activities can be satisfied there perhaps (though there's another sports multiplex maybe 3 miles away and then Players in Naperville, far superior). Luckily the younger crowd is all gone when the (supposedly) adults come out to play/battle, otherwise they'd be given terrible examples of behavior. read more

After searching around for a place to have my son's party, we booked with Westmont Yard. As soon as my son found out there was a nerf war option, he was sold! We originally booked the Dream package which includes up to 20 kids, food/drinks for the kids and a few other things. When I booked the party, Kristen (party manager) explained very thorough how packages work. The day of my party I ended up downgrading the package since I had less than 15 kids. Everything ended up exactly how I anticipated. Kids had fun, even the adults were playing! Our party host Nick was very kind. I would recommend this place! read more

We had our son's 4th birthday party here. It was ablast! They really cater to your needs and wants in the planning of your party to tailor the ages of the children in the party. It was perfect for us. They first started the party with a multi-level indoor playground, then loved to the open soccer field where they set up multiple bounce houses. The poorest communication in human history. Beware. Just rented a field with five kids to "practice shooting" for lacrosse and was informed that field rental does not include goals - after we paid of course. None of the three people I talked to on the phone cared to mention that. The goals belong to someone else and might be damaged - by shooting. The manager just told me that "shooting" practice can be easily accomplished without goals. Not sure how this might apply in soccer, hockey, or basketball but the crack experts here at Westmont Yard say it's possible. I only wish this organization did not have a monopoly on indoor sports in the area. read more

We have had my daughter's birthday party here for 2 years in a row (4yrs & 5 yrs). We had such great experience here last year that we decided to try it again. They are very busy on the weekends w/ soccer games, but they do a great job of separating the parties from the games. They are well organized, helpful & the kids have a great time!! And best of all, there is a party coordinator assigned to each party to facilitate the action...all the parents can just sit back, socialize, & watch their kids have fun! Our 4 year old has been a part of the Mighty Tykes program for 2 years now and loves it! Coach Benny is enthusiastic, funny and keeps him engaged. The facilities are bright and clean. Parking can be a challenge during tournament time and exiting onto 63rd St. can be as well. We would love to see improvements in those two areas. There was no organization for our party due to poor management..the rooms were still left dirty, trash was overflowing & dirty cups & water spilled all over the floor; our party coordinator was very polite & really did his best under the circumstances; also felt for the a party that cost well over $450 we expected for the kids to get more than only ONE piece of pizza!! Kids were still hungry after they had just been running around for almost two hours & we had to tell them there was no more food for them...I was very disappointed. read more

I've informed Josann multiple times throughout the 2-3 years my kids have been enrolled in the after school program about different staff issues, ie. swearing In front of the kids, minimizing kids' injuries, getting mad at the kids because the staff had to come back because the staff didn't make sure all the kids were on board before driving away from the school. Each time, I am informed the staff are being retrained but then same issues arise again. I initially picked westmont yard because I was led to believe they provide a supportive environment and promoted good sportsmanship. Not so, I'm finding out. Recently, my son (and a few other kids) were told during a game of basketball to give the coach (Jose) the ball because they "suck" at the game. REALLY?! Way to be a role model for sportsmanship! I've already informed Josann about this but I am looking elsewhere for afterschool program for my son for next year. I've given westmont yard too many chances but no more. I need a place where the staff are professional and appropriate role models for the kids. I would have given them four stars for the program and some of the staff but the continued issues with the male coaches brought it down to one star. read more

Decided to give it 3 stars but would have given it a 5 star rating except 04/03/15, around 2:40 p.m. 2 adults with 2 older children came into the younger kids play area with open drinks and food. When desk clerk with dark hair & glasses was advised she went in & spent some time in there. Maybe these were friends of hers &/or relatives as when she came out said it was an unopened container...now if I was blind or didn't see it I would have believed her except for the fact liquid was missing from it. Cameras are present also. So if the rules apply to others who come in...then friends, relatives, etc...should be not be exempt! read more

This place is awesome to take ur infant or toddler to on a rainy/snowy/cold day to get them to burn off some energy! They have no time limit on free play for $6!! I take my son there, play, have lunch and usually stay for about 3 hours. There are two huge rooms and upstairs is a play structure also. I agree the staff working the front desk is meh, but there isn't a whole lot of interaction you have to do with them so no biggie. The only problem I ever have there is getting my son to leave without embarrassing me with an enormous meltdown. read more

We had a birthday party for my 7 year old here yesterday. I am so busy with life that I never write reviews but today I wanted to make sure that I did. This party was so much fun! The party organizer, Candace was so nice and our party host, Nancy was great with the kids. They were kept busy with a Nerf gun war, a game of soccer, and time in the giant inflatable. I brought my 10 year old son and his friend and they were excited because they got half the field to shoot goals at each other. Another coach had some down time and he came by and was playing with them. Really cool bonus! Because it was a 1-3pm party, I just served cake and ice cream which I was able to bring in myself. Coming for Boom indoor football. The scoreboard hasn't worked all season. Impossible to know who is winning or losing unless you keep your own score. When you pay hundreds of dollars to have your kid participate, you should be able to expect the scoreboard to be functional. read more

We had a three year old birthday party here and it was great. It seemed a little unorganized when I was booking, but I didn't notice that while we were there. I love that we were in two different play locations and there was plenty to do for a wide range of kids (we had infants through seven year olds). I used to like this place. My son did sessions 1 and 2 of Mighty Tykes - Soccer. Today was supposed to be the start of session 3 for him. When I get there his name does not show for any class!? I registered him online and early for the 8:45 AM session. I explained on the comments section that we would like to be wait-listed for the 10:15 AM session but that if there was not space, then we would definitely take the 8:45 AM slot. I get there and my kid is in neither class... he wasn't registered at all. The staff at the front desk acknowledged my online registration and my request in the comment section... they clearly dropped the ball and now they best they can do is offer us a week-day session at 4:15 PM?! We work full-time and this wouldn't work for us. Now we have to call a manager during the week to see what they can do. How about they call us and fix what was clearly their mistake? This place is great for their open play! They have 2 inflatables, playroom full of bikes and other preschool and younger toys and their play structure upstairs is awesome. I would give it 5 stars, but I think the price is a little high $6, they don't offer a punch card or anything so for a family of 3 kids its pricing.
