Please DO NOT be fooled by "good" choreography that has been done by him REPEATEDLY ! Avoid this place at all costs. THEY WILL SCAM YOU ! This place only cares about money and has total disregard for customer service. On another note, he says that he will provide suits for the chambelanes, but at the end he either makes up excuses as to why he "did not" get the suits or tells the family last minute to provide the suits themselves. Yet again, he had chambelanes work for him and never ended up paying them for their part as promised. Even if he ends up providing suits for your chambelanes, it always ends up being black and nothing to match the color of the quince. With our experience, he always ended up showing up late, never finishes the dances (which follows up with repeats of other dances that have been "choreograph" by him). The amount of times we tried to contact him through texts and calls, he never ended up answering and if he did it was to notify that the practice has been cancelled HOURS when it should have started. Or simply because "SUPPOSEDLY" he FORGOT. JESUS ESTRADA overbooks himself and never provides his part of the contract. At the end of the day they will simply IGNORE you on PURPOSE because they know how to fool their customers. The staff could care less if you are wasting your time waiting on them to show up. In addition, if you are one of the lucky people he texted back it was only to request for an additional payment prior to the "contract." As always DO NOT get fooled by this message, it always benefits HIM for the MONEY. This is his ways of gaining trust for his "customers." Again, if you are looking for a professional choreographer PLEASE DO NOT HIRE JESUS ESTRADA FOR YOUR EVENTS! YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED ! If for whatever reason you ended up paying a deposit or more, please STOP WASTING YOUR MONEY BECAUSE YOU WILL NOT GET IT BACK ! The staff will either not answer you or will keep delaying time for a "refund." THIS "BUSINESS" IS A FRAUD !!!

You can drop in and pay for one class, or sign up for a series. A nice variety of classes for children, teens and adults -- In addition to jazz/hip-hop there is also ballet, tap, yoga and even belly dance (try it, it's fun). The space is small, but well-lit and airy. The mirrors are spaced panels and not the wall-to-wall type, so watching yourself and the instructor can be tricky if you aren't properly situated in the room.

I don't know where on God's green earth they do business like this. My daughter will be going back to her old dance school, where they are parent friendly and welcoming to their dancers. I guarantee you will not receive it at Transcendance.

Just follow the darn instructions, as daily messages filter through and that's one of the mantras! I am impressed. I was terrified that maybe I wouldn't make it but I did! So with this, I get my money back! So I rolled it into a membership for a year! I am super exited and the fact that I can workout 5x a week is amazing! I have gotten use to it and with the amount I got back, the money I get back is rolled over to that and I am going to pay a lot less! By far, this has to be one of the best experiences I've ever done, and I LOVE working out now! It's just to much of a deal to pass up! They have a lazy river full of innertubes, and giant 2.5 foot deep pool with a play structure and various splashing items, plus a splash pad, and a junk food concession. It is neither a real swimming pool nor a water park. Not a real swimming pool because the deepest part of the pool is 2.5 feet deep. Not a water park because there's no actual waterslide, though there is a slide ... into the water -- if you grasp the distinction I'm making. But as a consequence this means that you can feel much more comfortable giving even young kids a decent amount of freedom (obviously not too much! be safe!) and generating the kind of wet, chlorinated, hot, happy, exhausted summer day that you may have grown up with as a kid. Chicago is a big city of rich amenities, so there are not a ton of things that I say are clearly worth a 45 minute drive from my house, but this is one of them.

They use the whole lane of the pool to teach which maximizes swim time. The teachers sometimes have them "group swim" instead of ONLY individual swim which maximizes swim time. They also are very prompt with starting and ending on time. Cons: the teachers they have are not consistent, and so they don't know your child's swim level, and the skills worked on that week is random (whatever the teacher wants to do), so there is a lack on consistency. I also wish there was an option for parents to sit inside the pool area instead of only the option to sit outside of the glass. Overall, I would go for another lesson, but wish for more consistency in skills learned each week.

We were excited to graduate…read morefrom the baby classes, which is 30 minutes of just getting the kids used to being in water and most of the instructors we had did not seem too engaged in the class. Once we got to the 3-5 classes, the instructors were great and my kids loved it. However, we had 2 weeks in a row where, first, my 3-year-old fell in the water and was picked up by another instructor who was walking around the pool. Then the next week, during the last 5 minutes of "play time," my 4-year-old slipped off the wall and was fully submerged and flailing in the water. The teacher (who is great) was with another child. I don't know how long my daughter was under water (it felt like forever), but it was long enough for all five parents watching to bang repeatedly on the class and yell for someone's attention, since the door to the pool is locked and we couldn't get in. Finally, an instructor walking around the pool noticed and grabbed my daughter. During both incidents, the "lifeguard" did not notice either girl and made no move to help either time. After the second incident, we removed my daughter's from the class. I spoke with the manager, Jackie, who was great, discussed how there is no way that should be happening, and offered a full refund. Then she had the supervisor, Marty, call me. He made the situation much worse by repeatedly discussing how young children don't listen by the pool and it causes unsafe situations. I agreed with him, acknowledging that my 3-year-old fell in due to not listening. But my 4-year-old is very nervous by the water and tends to be a very good listener. Despite mentioning this, Marty again discussed how children don't listen and cause an unsafe situation by continually jumping in the pool on the own. Even if my daughter was not listening, there should be no reason a child is fully submerged under the water with no one (especially the lifeguard) noticing until parents finally get their attention by banging on windows and yelling. Marty made the whole experience worse by his attempts to explain why the situation occurred and helped me feel more confident in my decision to transfer the girls to the new Foss swim school (which is also much bigger and cleaner).

There is a beautiful, amazing path/trail on the outskirts surrounding the dog park with a breathtaking walking scenery of forestry, and wild life...the doggies love the deer. And of course, the path is great for not only walking your doggy, but for biking, jogging, rollerblading/skating, and health walking. There are several picnic tables if you wish to relax sit/eat/chat while watching your dog play; and several stations with poop bags. But, THERE IS NO WATER FOUNTAIN/SUPPLY in the dog park...So, the parents bring water, and we keep the many water pans (already there) filled with water for our doggies. Was here recently to rent kayaks and it was great. Chicago Kayak and Canoe rental company sets up camp, and it was very busy with school groups and families on a recent beautiful September 2016 Chicago weekend. Kayaking the Lagoons you're bound to see cranes, heron, a few other people kayaking, and get lost in nature. From time to time there is algae on the water and it can be smelly. We went right into a cove of algae where nobody else was going, and it felt like something out of the movie Adaptation. I was jealous of all the fishing going on, and hope to be back for that. It's only 5 miles from Chicago Botanic Gardens, so if you park here you can bike on in for free, and have an easy short ride. A lot of people reviewing Skokie Lagoons complain about the trash, and how people leave lunch garbage and bottles laying around. To me that's not a reflection of the place itself- do your part- pick up some trash before you leave, or pull a bottle or two out of the water. Or just stay away, because I'll be back, and the less people the better!

I read the review below, and I completely disagree. I thought the recital was very elegant and entertaining. My family members came from out of town, and it was completely worth their time. My daughter has been taking classes for 2 years now, and I have seen the growth in not only her dancing but her personality. My daughter loves taking class with Miss Peggy - the owner of the studio. My husband I are honored to have the owner herself teaching our daughter how to dance. We order t-shirts and a DVD each year, and my daughter can't get enough of watching herself and the others dances on repeat. I would highly recommend Peggy Rose Academy of Dance! read more

I love Peggy Rose Academy of Dance. The studio is kind of a tradition for my family. I took class when I was younger and now I bring my daughters. One loves ballet and one loves Jazz/Hip Hop. This studio has so much to offer even Voice Lessons which I just enrolled my youngest daughter in. Peggy Rose Academy of Dance employees definitely know how to make you feel welcome and at home. I love that Miss Peggy taught me and now she is teaching my daughter. This place will always be our second home. read more

My daughter would try to fix it, which I am unsure if she did correctly, but the teachers would not help with her mistakes and would instead embarrass her in front of the group of other girls and boys. My two girls have been dancing here since they were two (in Mommy & Me class). I was careful about…read morechoosing a studio, as I come from a performance background and I know how cutthroat the dance world can be. I was looking for a few things in particular and have been extremely pleased with HDA. Specifically, I was looking for: 1) Choreography and costumes that are age-appropriate. I have a huge problem with the sexualization of young children and I'm happy to say that I have never seen a child at HDA in anything that made me uncomfortable. (So, no five-year-olds twerking in bikinis.) 2) Promoting healthy body image. The dance world (ballet in particular) notoriously pushes dancers to be unhealthily thin. I have never heard of a dancer at HDA being told that they needed to look a certain way in order to dance and I've been happy to see dancers of all sizes and shapes in lead roles over the past several years. 3) Camaraderie among dancers. I have no patience for petty, backstabbing meanness. Dance does have a competitive element to it when it comes to coveted roles and I know how ugly behavior can stem from jealousy. I'm not quite sure how she's done it, but Jennifer has managed to create an environment where the students all genuinely cheer for each other, the older students nurture the younger students, and the younger students admire their leaders. 4) Performance opportunities. I think that publicly putting yourself out there -- in any way, on stage or in a business presentation -- is one of the most terrifyingly vulnerable things someone can do, which is why it's a skill that is good to develop at a young age. HDA finds a way to include even their youngest dancers in their productions (e.g., Reindeer in "The Nutcracker," mice in "Cinderella," guppies in "The Little Mermaid," etc.), which is not true of some other studios in the area. 5) Excellent training. Finding a studio that emphasizes good technique is extremely important, as ballet is the foundation for so many other kinds of dance. My oldest daughter (11) started en pointe this year and I will say that the evaluation to see if she was physically ready was excellent. The studio also encouraged us to see a doctor if we were hesitant, who also gave the green light. And quick note: starting en pointe doesn't mean immediately doing pirouettes in the center. The class moves slowly to properly develop the technique. On the other side of this, both of my girls have repeated dance levels in the past because the instructors didn't feel that they were physically ready to move up. I appreciated that they were looking out for their development and, while my daughters were disappointed, it gave them extra incentive to work toward improving in certain areas so that they would be ready to move up the following year. 6) Nurturing teachers. The fastest way to burn out is to hate going to class. That's never been the case for my daughters at HDA. Starting in the Young Children's Program, the classes are so much fun and so joyful. It really did instill a love of dance early on. Moving into the upper level classes, I see the instructors correcting and challenging the dancers, but never with a hardened rigidity that I've observed elsewhere. Each instructor has their own style, but the constant is the care that they show each dancer as a human being -- and how much they love to teach. I found one studio that had everything on my list: Hinsdale Dance Academy. I haven't been disappointed. Dance at HDA has given my girls confidence, a strong work ethic, opportunities for leadership, and a spirit of sisterhood. They have learned to overcome obstacles, to deal with disappointment gracefully, and the exhilaration that comes with obtaining a long-term goal. I highly recommend it.

So far I have taken 3 types of classes and love them all. My bf surprised me with a Valentine's Day lap dance class as my first class. You can only imagine how nervous I was, but it was great I didn't want to leave once it was over. I'll share that I love to dance and I've always gravitated to some form of dance fitness in my adult life: jazzercise, zumba, pole dance, aerial hammocks, etc. so this was a natural fit for me. I love the sexy style and free spirit Kookie brings. You can let everything go and just have fun no matter your age, race, size, none of it matters when you take a class at this studio, just have fun! Amazing! All the girls had a blast! Plus the price was great! I went to a moms dance party as well and we exercised and had the coolest evening! Elmhurst is really lucky to have such a great studio! When Covid-19 closed everything she was still able to take her class via zoom, see her instructor AND her classmates. The studio has fantastic protocols in place to protect all the dancers AND instructors but still has the warm and welcoming feel. Cannot wait to start another season with EDC!!!
