Started with a pair of pants. New pants first time worn, go to restaurant and drip a bit of sauce on the pant leg. I chose not to wash them because I wanted to maintain the darker navy--blue color instead of washing them and washing out part of the color. I chose to take them to the neighborhood Dry Cleaners - Westmoreland (support local business). Customer is always right? I showed the owner the stain she said they would try to get it out. She said that when people wash their clothes and can't get the stain out, it makes it harder for them to remove it. I told her I had not washed them and they were brand new pants. She said she could tell they had been washed and ironed. Oh boy. I went to pick them up two weeks later paid my bill and took them home. The stain was still there, and did not look like they had treated them in any way. Took them back same day. The owner said they tried to get the stain out but with no luck. She told me they would try again with no charge. Don't argue with the customer. I went to pick them up and the stain was as if all they did was re-press the pants. I pointed this out and she told me that old pants were always hard to clean. I told her the pants were new. She told me she could tell they were old and had been washed several times. (This was not going well). "That will be $14" "No that won't" "Yes, we tried to clean them and the stain would not come out" "You told me you would try to clean them again with no charge" "We did. If they had come out clean we would not have charged you. They did not come out clean so you owe us $14" I was having difficulty following her logic. I pushed back. "I will not pay when you told me there would be no charge." I could see the wheels turning in her head as she weighed the outcome of her next words.... "Maybe you should try using a napkin instead of wiping your hands on your pants" as she motioned wiping hands on lap. No charge. Oh boy, any bets on my returning to this cleaners? I think I will take the trip to Tie's Cleaners on Sandy next time I need to use a dry cleaner. Next day service and no lip. Oh, and I threw the pants in the wash and guess what, the stain came out!! We're new to Portland. We took our comforter in to have laundered. The woman working (maybe the owner?) was pretty rude. Scolded us on our timing taking the comforter in because it takes a long time to dry and we waited until it was cooling down outside. We told her we weren't in any hurry at all, but she continued scolding us. She told us it would take a while, didn't give us a pick up date or call us when it was ready, and charged an outrageous amount to launder (not dry clean). We paid almost as much as the comforter cost. We also had two clothing items to dry clean and the cost was very high. She was rude again when we picked up. Won't go back. read more

I took in the fabric covers for our favorite couch, hoping they could clean them. Two bottoms, two backs, and two pillow covers. Boy, did they do a fantastic job! The couch looks like new. What to say? It's a dry cleaner that also washes your clothes that don't need the more expensive dry cleaning. They also do alterations and probably many other things that I have yet to require of them. For me, what sets them apart is that they are reasonably priced (not cheap) and they follow your instructions closely, if you feel the need to explain something in detail. I was excited to find a place that specialized in cleaning leather (I have a dress with leather trim). When I asked how much the extra it would be to clean the leather dress, I was told $10. I thought that was completely reasonable. I should have asked how much regular pieces are priced to clean. My bill was $96.00! I just moved here from the Bay Area and I have never had a bill that high and this time I didn't even include coats or bedspreads. $14.50 to dry clean a dress!? (without leather) I am shocked how high the final bill was. Yes, everything was clean and the service was great, but I can't afford that. I just happened to try this business as they are close to our house and do all of the dry cleaning on site (a must-have in my opinion. I have been a very satisfied customer and use their dry cleaning services about twice a month. They always have my clothes ready and looking fresh when I come to pick-up and have even been willing to do a few rush orders for me. They have great customer loyalty and it didn't take long for them to recognize me as a returning customer. Yet, one of their greatest assets is the alterations. Two dresses. One Rayon, One cotton. $14.50 each. $29 total. The cotton Bernie Dexter dress makes sense because it's a vintage style with boning and pleating and may have required pressing or steaming, but a RAYON Anthropologie dress?? They look good, but there are other dry cleaners in the area that do just as nice a job and don't charge this much. read more

This place is the worst. I took a pair of suit pants to get a new zipper. When I went to pick up, they didn't have the pants. I was told that I must've taken them to another cleaner, because they don't lose clothes. I quoted the woman the exact price given to me, by her no less, but that apparently proved nothing. Not once did she apologize. She continued to insist it was my fault and offered no alternative. They can't look my number up because nothing is computerized and she said that it would take too much time to manually look for the ticket stub. So I now have an expensive suit that is useless. I am shocked to read all the negative reviews of this place. I have been there at least a dozen times and always had a good experience. Most recently they showed a great deal of care and attention to my wedding dress after an unfortunate incident resulted in red wine being spilled all over the skirt. I brought about 5 or 6 dress shirts to this place. When I got home, I found that 3 of them were shredded, all in the same spot -- the front left-hand side. I took them back to the cleaners, and the woman who works there told me they "must have been too old and the fabric was too weak." None of the shirts had been worn more than 4 or 5 times. Against my better judgment, I went back again a few weeks later with 4 more shirts, and another one was shredded in the same spot. Unless you like your shirts shredded, I would try someplace else. read more
