Don't expect the wide selection of some of the larger farmer's markets in the area--but do still expect plenty of high-quality options! This is a great place for a quick stroll while you grab brunch and a couple of grocery items. On a recent visit, I picked up mushrooms grown in Maryland, freshly pressed juice, cooked barbecue, spring onions, daikon, and baklava. Next time I plan to get some marinated olives, smoked salmon, peaches, and radishes. There are several sandwich and snack options (cookies, donuts, etc) as well as drinks, including coffee. The farmer's market is not too far from Ballston. There is a small school parking lot, too. Worth checking out and coming back for more.

This farmers market is independent of the farmfresh ones that are around dc and northern virginia. Vendors are selling fresh fruits and vegetables, Turkish food (börek [like their empanadas], pide [similar to pita but more fluffy], simit [like sesame bagels], red lentil dip), French macarons, madeleines, fresh fish, goat cheese, pickled foods, jams, fresh bread, etc. Since it's covid time they are limiting the number of people at a time and you are required to wear a mask. When you arrive, you need to wait in line for the staff to let you in. Once you are inside, proceed to each both in a zig zag path. The exit is at the end and you're not supposed to backtrack to the front. As you can see in my pics, there's a fence to prevent excited shoppers from entering early. The vendors all seemed pretty nice except for one who ignored me. Still, I was pleased with this farmers market and will definitely return. Highly recommended! This year they are open every Saturday 8am until noon until November 21, I believe.

The market is pretty bare bones with two vegatable/fruit producers, a bakery, and a meat stand but there are a few exciting vendors that sell things like homemade fudge, juice, bbq and macarons. The two most personable vendors that I found at the market were Cascade Beverage Company which sold iced tea and the most amazing nitro kombucha that I've ever tried. At $12 for an entire growler, it's a steal! I also really enjoyed speaking to the owner of Liberty Farms of Virginia and his daughters who sold turkey, duck and chicken eggs in the most amazing assortment of beautiful colors. You can tell that they were a real family owned business and they were passionate about their product. You also get 25 cents off your purchase if you recycle an egg carton with them!

Also a very good selection of jellies and jams, plus baked goods, ice cream and gelato, and sausage. I was very pleased with Lola's Kusina, a food truck with a number of tasty selections. I particularly like the curry empanadas and the blueberry lumpias in addition to the people who run it: Lola and Rich, and especially Terry, whose people skills are superb. The two women who run the market, Samantha and Molly, are exceedingly pleasant. It's open from 10 until 2 on Saturdays; I'm not sure when it starts in the spring, but I know that the market ends for the year pretty late -- mid-December.

E'buono brings the neighborhood flair with baked goods made from jams, made from fruits grown in their OWN garden. And they're impressively delicious - try their thumbprint and fig cookies!! And my all time fave, Uncle Ping's, with larger than life pulled pork sandwiches (made w love over 12 hours), amazing from scratch, locally sourced ingredients dumplings. Omg this must be heaven. My other favorites here are Pierre's bakery, Mendoza Farms, and Spring Valley Farms. All vendors are fantastic but these have been my go-tos.

This farmer's market has become my happy place during the pandemic. Please note this is not to say…read morethey are not pandemic compliant because they are, you need a mask, there can be lines at vendors as they are servicing one customer per employee at a time, You point and the vendor selects, everyone takes credit cards, and they ask that you move in one direction past the vendors (there are arrows to follow). There is a county team that keeps things moving and compliant. Because of all of these precautions this is a safe place. All that said, it has became a pandemic happy place for me because I can get fresh fruits and veggies, plants, honey, and herbs as well as bread, coffee, desserts, Mediterranean goodies, and Latin American eats. I look forward to enjoying an almond pastry with warm coffee as I carry fresh bread, tomatoes, empanadas with spicy sauce, and garlic whip to my car. I am so glad the vendors here have become more varied than when I first reviewed them a couple years ago. A huge thank you to the both the vendors and team that keeps this operating, I am thankful for this happy place.

Here's the latest and greatest vendor list from 2023: Timber Pizza - Scrumptious wood-fired pizza with a pillowy soft crust. I can't count on how many fingers and toes I've had the pizza at different farmer's markets! While the lines can get long 12:30pm, you only have to wait for 15 minutes. Taco Dirty To Me: Crispy battered cauliflower tempura tacos, bursting with flavor! Bun'd' Up - Delicious fried tofu and mushroom in squishy soft bao buns topped with microgreens, scallions, and a nice creamy aioli sauce. Light and tasty! Urban+ade - Refreshing lemonade with less sugar than classic lemonade. The Sage & Tarragon is my favorite! Veg Heaven - Decadent sweet treats, the dark chocolate cookies and brownies are the best! While the cakes are moist, they aren't as tasty. Taco Loco - Giant burritos are amazing! There's a swarm of people waiting in line, so be prepared to wait 10-15 min before ordering and then another 5 min for your order! The mango and watermelon juice are refreshing. Hipp Sippin' - Cold-pressed juices and acai bowls made to order. Ravenhook Bakery - Great selection of freshly baked loaves of bread and baked goods. DMV Empanadas - They sell out fast! While the empanadas has a nice crispy hard shell and with so many flavors to choose from, they are a bit bland and overloaded with bland cheese. The Spinach and Cheese or the Bacon and Cheese didn't quite hit the spot, hubby like the Chicken. Al Volo Cucina: While I wasn't a big fan of the greasy eggplant parm subs. I wish they brought back the fresh juices (the watermelon and mango juices) were amazing! Wonderful market with plenty of delicious and diverse options to choose from. Lines start to form between 12:30-1pm, come early!
