Went to Dr. Chung for tooth extraction, crowns and root canal following initial consult. The extraction/healing process was done very smoothly with no complications and he answered all of my questions pre and post-procedure very well. Five stars -- and not just because I survived. I came in extremely anxious, and the entire team was kind, patient, and genuinely supportive from start to finish. They talked me through the process, checked in often, and kept reassuring me that I was doing "awesome" (which I still side-eye a little, but I appreciated every word of encouragement ). The appointment was long and definitely pushed me outside my comfort zone, but I never felt rushed or dismissed. The care and compassion made a huge difference, and the end result was absolutely worth it. We even bonded over our dogs -- which somehow helped calm my nerves more than anything else. I left shaken, smiling, and very happy with how everything turned out. If you're nervous about dental work, this is a team that truly gets it and treats you with patience, humor, and care -even if you're silently questioning your life choices in the chair. I've had the most disappointing time waiting to get a new implant and crown for my front teeth. This process started April . After waiting 3 months for the implant process, and after multiple visits to secure the fabricated tooth, I'm still waiting! The implant was installed in August, however my healthy front tooth, mysteriously is now discolored. I was promise that to make this right I would need a crown over this discolored tooth. On multiple visits to install the crown, the color match was inaccurate. This is totally unacceptable! My last visit was 9/19, I've been walking around with a badly discolored tooth (crown)! No one from the office has reached out to me as a courtesy. I'm not a happy customer and someone need to make this right! My teeth were perfectly fine before this ordeal!!! It gets worst, after calling today, 3-weeks since my last visit inquiring if my replacement implant and crown arrived. Even though the office hours is 9am - 7pm, I was told Dr. Chun doesn't arrive until 12noon and he will give me a call. As a testament to the lack of customer service, I never received a call from him, and called back myself to again inquire. Once connected to Dr. Chun, he verbally attacked me trying to make their inadequacies my issue. I'm the patient and victim here. He would not even allow me to speak and hung up the phone. Why am I the patient being treated this way! It's not my fault that this unfortunate ordeal has happen to me the patient. I did nothing to deserve this service. I'm now left embarrassed to smile because my front tooth is so discolored. And this is the crown he installed 3-weeks ago...that I am paying for. Dr. Chun you need to make this right! It may have been easy for you to rudely hang up the phone, but at the end of the day, Make this right, and fix the damages that you have caused me. And apologize for your gross unprofessional behavior. No customer should ever be treated the way you treated me today. read more

1st off, let ME say I chose MELWOOD Dental (bc they are in MELWOOD, not WESTPHALIA, like they're trying to fake just bc there's some new boujie McMansions & townhouses ACROSS the main thoroughfare from them, i.e., Rte 4) bc of their reviews too, but all they proved was that all reviews aren't VETTED. BEWARE: ANOTHER MED./DENTAL PRACTICE W/BILLING INCOMPETENCY, so if you didn't have any dental issues when you walked in there, THEY will CREATE them for you. My husband walked in there with, even according to them: with NO CAVITIES, expecting a TYPICALLY FREE PREVENTIVE SVC (if that's what you wanna call it after paying a high premium every paycheck), i.e., a basic cleaning & they ended up taking him for a ride (bc I could not be with him due to work) due to his developmental disability & language barrier (which they tried to dispute, saying they had a bilingual in there, but 1 BIASED EMPLOYEE who BARELY assisted him does NOT count) & they would not talk to me on the phone to approve their shady "upsell", so I was unaware until AFTER the fact. They also sent him home with a treatment plan document that cost more than our HOME & CARS are worth, yes: THOUSANDS of $$. He's had a partial denture he's been fine with for YEARS, but suddenly they think he needs SEVERAL bridges AND crowns. So I called them after work & was told he needed a "full mouth debridement" instead which I found strange because he had never been recommended one his entire life, even after not seeing a dentist for several years before. I was told our insurance didn't cover this $97 CLEANING, yet $50 of it would go towards the deductible (?!), which I didn't quite understand, but assumed they knew what they were doing since this was their territory (big mistake) & no matter how much I asked for clarification: the 1 receptionist that answers phones there whom you can barely hear (& they have no live online scheduling either, smh) just talked in circles, in hindsight: surely purposely. Several calls to our insurance co. & her later, she tried to tell the insurance co. she'd told me the deductible WOULDN'T be covered & that they had given us a "discounted" rate of $97 when it really was @$200! WTH?! I went back & forth disputing her LIES until finally she UNPROFESSIONALLY HUNG UP on us. This is just another typical medical practice in the greed-driven, for-profit, privatized SICKcare system in our country that hires the cheapest office staff they can get to turn their profit regardless HOW inept, discourteous, &/or listless they are. This will not be the last review I write on this incident (plus a grievance to my insurance provider on this practice), but it WILL be the last time I pay for a CLEANING, ON MY G-MOTHER: TRUST!! read more

I went to the Westphalia Dental in Upper Marlboro, Maryland on July 6, and that was one of the best decisions I have ever made. It was my first visit and they made me feel like I have been there before. My second visit was on August 4, 2021 and that was great as well. The entire staff is very professional and personable. The front desk staff is very friendly. The doctor was excellent- he is someone who definitely takes pride in his work. The assistant was great - she is very calm and made me feel like I was the only patient in the office. The Westphalia dental staff "ROCK" I have never felt so comfortable going to the dentist. October 18, 2023 I was seen for routine dental exam & cleaning. I was told that there were no problems and everything looked good. October 30,2023 I began to have pain and swelling I went into the office to ask for an appointment.An x ray was done at that time and was told that if there was any problem I would be contacted. I was not contacted. Pain and swelling continued and became worse. . November 3., 2023 called the office and was given an appointment. During the visit, Dr. Chung stated that there was an infection the tooth was broken and would need to be removed. My wife asked if I would be given an antibiotic Dr. Chung said, yes. I asked the cost of the extraction he said $350.00 Before the procedure the office gave me a bill for $438.00 I told them that I was told $350.00 an adjustment for $350.00 was made. They sent a prescription to my pharmacy. When I picked up the prescription up it was for Methylpredisolone 4mg. A steroid but no antibiotic. The pain and swelling continued next day I called the office I spoke with someone who said it was the same as an antibiotic. I called again to see why I was not given an antibiotic for the infection the staff insisted that the steroid was the same as an antibiotic. After several calls Dr. Chung ordered Azitromycin. Only then did the pain and swelling stop. On November 9th we received a letter from Dr. James M. chung,dds which stated he no longer wanted to see me and my wife no reason was given we asked questions, wanted proper treatment for the infection and wanted the, to respect the quoted price. I also want to add that this was not my first visit since to his office I have been going there since 2018 had root canal, crown and routine visits etc. My take away is don't ask questions just accept whatever they say or do. read more

It's hard to believe but I had such a great experience at this office that I genuinely feel compelled to spread the word and help this small business out. Michelle immediately put me at ease and was the epitome of warmth and professionalism. Name the last time you gave your dental tech a hug on the way out! She's an absolute gem. On top of that, the front desk staff were, and continue to be, extremely helpful and courteous. A bad dental office can be a nightmare. That's why I have to advocate for this place! First off, let me start by saying that this place has the BEST ENERGY POSSIBLE! Every staff member was polite and welcoming. It was my first time visiting and they acted as if i've been there before with how they greeted and welcomed me! Secondly, my hygienist, Carson, was THE BOMB!!!!!! We joked and laughed for about 5 minutes before getting started which put me in a relaxed state. Then, he asked what did i want to watch on TV. but what put the icing on the cake was him asking if i wanted the massage and heated setting turned on, on my chair. YES! you read that RIGHT! THEY HAVE HEATED CHAIRS THAT MASSAGE YOU WHILE YOU GET YOUR TEETH WORKED ON!!!!!!!!!!! Never in my long years of going to the dentist have i ever got a massage in a warm chair while getting my teeth cleaned!!! What i appreciated the most was that i expressed to Carson that i was nervous about the pain of getting my teeth cleaned and he assured me that i will be okay! and let's just say this, he did NOT DISAPPOINT!not only was the procedure painless, it was done correctly and precisely! Next, came Dr. Bo, who was another funny character! His energy was top tier! He analyzed my teeth and went over what all needed to be done in the coming days in a way in which i could understand! i can't believe this is my new dental home! i love these guys with a passion and vow to never go anywhere else! even if they moved to a new location, i'm going too! lol :) read more

I can't wait to bring my family to this Dentist, very family oriented and welcoming. They told me everything they were doing before they did it and the results after. They told me what I needed I do to take care of my teeth on a daily basis. The doctor had a cancellation and I wind up getting a painless root canal and I didn't need to take any pain meds after. That's the first that time I didn't feel pain during the procedure or after for a root canal. This is a dentist I feel comfortable going to. Westphalia Dental is the best dentist I've ever been to! That means a lot since I've been to so many different ones.
