We had it towed to West Side Auto because someone told us that was a good place. He needed new tire rods. I cannot give this place enough stars! The person who helped us was Ivan. What a great guy! He keeps overcharging my mother for just getting an estimate on something we already know what's needed. Last Friday she took her car for a quote. The smog people had already diagnosed and another mechanic had already diagnosed but didn't have time to fix. She went there for a price quote and she was asked to leave the car??? When she came back for the quote they gave her a price of $1000 for a catalytic converter replacement we already knew about plus a charge of $100. Last time he quoted a transmission replacement and radiator replacement for $4500 and $70 quote fee. The car just needed transmission fluid and heat sensor for the fan. $120 total cost. If you can't afford a pricey car remodel avoid this place. read more

I had to let the local community know what an outstanding and honest shop this is. I was on vacation with my wife celebrating our anniversary in Santa Barbara. Suddenly my truck began smoking and when I pulled over it was leaking diesel fuel badly! I limped into their shop thinking the worst case scenario. The next day Andrew calls me and says it was just a loose fuel line. He tightened it and we were all good and on our way! He literally saved our vacation!!! All sorts of scenarios were going thru my head. I was prepared to pay over a thousand dollars but he charged me so fairly I don't even want to say the cost. What I will say is these guys are honest, they have a top of the line clean shop, they know what they are doing and even service diesels. They just don't make em like this anymore. My first and last time here I took my car in for a standard timing belt change (requires 4 belts). Within a half hour of dropping my car off I saw someone driving it on the freeway. Okay, so they had to run an errand... but when I asked them about it they said they had to make sure nothing was wrong with my car. So, job is completed and I happily drive it around for 3 months until I need to have something else repaired. I take it to a different mechanic, who notices that some of the belts were never changed. I called westside and he said he must have forgotten that I requested him to do this work. He then offered to change the belts for free labor but by this time I don't want him touching my car ever again and opt to take it to another mechanic. Forget this place!!! read more

I dropped in at Westside Auto Repair with no appointment - I needed a lightbulb replaced on our SUV. I was happily greeted by Ivan and he gave me easy-to-understand details and straightforward cost on the service. I got a call from Ivan an hour later saying he found some other parts that should/could easily be replaced. I was grateful that he checked other areas and not just what I asked for. Upon returning to pick up my car, Ivan showed me all of the old parts he removed, and boxes to the new parts he replaced everything with; he walked me through the invoice and showed me where on the car the parts were replaced. I really appreciated this, so I could better understand what services were completed. I asked Ivan about other parts we want to replace on this same car and he immediately gave me informed quotes - which was extremely more fair than the Ford/Mazda dealership prices we had been given.
