Service was done quickly and well. Just want to warn that they charge $160 for diagnosis even if you do the repair with them so you pay $160 on top of parts and labor. Not a common practice for shops I've used in past. They tell you up front but if you get towed there be prepared to pay that extra $. Review would be 5 stars if not for fee. read more

Very kind treatment of me as a young woman with a service dog and took care of my older pre 2000 car for a smog check, which not everywhere will still perform! They were easy going and efficient as well as got me served fast during a busy time, plus Angela really helped me out in a pinch after being out of state from covid with stuff in arrears, it's been extra humbling to ask for tons of help with fatigue etc, and I appreciated having a good laugh about life being crazy with people who get it and don't make you feel bad for having to try hard to handle what they deal with all day!! He ended up fitting me in and found out that the other shop completely did the instal wrong. He took pictures and documented so detailed for me and I had my car back Wednesday! Eric Krebs works on practically everything! Despite being a small operation they manage to get to you quickly and offer AAA discounts and good service. Recently they did some work for me which was substandard. Two hydraulic lines that run transmission fluid to/from the radiator were incorrectly installed. I lost 2 quarts of transmission fluid. I thought it was a problem with a new transmission I had just paid nearly $3,000 for--no, it was the radiator job at Eric's. It nearly cost me my transmission. read more

Building a relationship. Needing my car smogged, I made a lunch time appointment. Quick and easy is what I was expecting. What I received was cheap but longer than desired. Not their fault, a machine broke. Rather than taking the car I walked back to work and left it picking it up later in the day. On pickup, there was zero sales pitch about rotating tires, oil changes or AC coolant top-off. I did inquire about some service maintenance and despite waiting on me to close, general quotes were discussed and time spent to make me feel comfortable in my decision. Disclaimer: Before I decided to go all 'Black Mirror' on them I tried to give them a chance by calling them but since the customer service was bad, here is a little bit of my experience: another thing, if you are not a woman and 24 years old you might get different treatment there. I was trying to sell my car , and went to the buyer's repair shop of choice to do a diagnosis on my car. I have been in the past month to Jiffy Lube and Perry Mazda and they said my car besides doing some maintenance break + transmission fluids change, was in great conditions. I went to Erik'a and first they said that it was going to take max of 4 hours and it took 5+ just to do a diagnosis, then my potential buyer went back to the shop before me and he was advised not to buy my car and instead to buy one of his 'friends' cars from 2001. My car is from 2009. When I went there later to pick up my car not knowing that this had happened, he said that I had to change the timing belt which would cost about 1700 dollars, plus do a oil leak diagnosis that would cost an extra 700 (this is just to find out what caused the leak) AND that I had to change my air filter right away because apparently I got scammed at jiffy lube Erik said that they didn't change my air filter when I did my oil change about a month ago ( well, I went back to jiffy lube and they showed me the barely used filter ) I called them the next couple of days and besides being poorly treated on the phone, they said that they never told the buyer to buy one of his friend' cars. Sketchy , unethical and such poor customer service. The only good thing about the shop was the girl that was working in the office that drove me downtown and picked me up, she was actually pretty nice and sweet. read more

I used to take my Mercedes to this repair shop - did that more than 6 years. Over the time, their customer service has taken the turn for the worst. I finally decided to never go back to them. I needed a new battery on my Mercedes R350. I called their office, the lady that answered the phone didn't get me a price quote stating they have to "research" the price and to call back the next day and talk to Raphael. The lady was super annoyed with me, by the way, I notice this change across their staff - I feel this is because they have so much business due to re-opening after Covid. Anyway, the following day I called back and talked to Raphael. He quoted me 600 to change the battery. BTW, in the meantime I called Costco they are selling battery for Mercedes R350 for 170. So why the six hundred - no one knows. Anyway, I decided to take my business to another company (the name I wish I do not wish disclose) in Goleta. They not only replaced my battery but also replaced my auxiliary battery all from dealer brand parts! How much was I charged? 480 out the door. For two batteries. Please keep in mind the auxiliary battery in Mercedes is placed in a difficult location which takes a long time to change. Finally, I got six years of warranty. Which I was thinking why Eric didn't offer me since I changed my battery with them, less than 3 years ago. So good bye Eric Kreb, you sucked my blood for six years, but not anymore. I hope my post helps some customer out there. Do your research, there are really honest and reasonably priced German car repair shops in Santa Barbara / Goleta. Thank you! read more

Very cordial from the phone appointment to the actual work. The smog check was fast, they tightened up the battery terminals and protected them for corrosion without charging me anything. Krebs auto repair was so helpful to my daughter when she had a check engine light come on that I just had to write a review. They diagnosed the engine code and advised us that there was a good chance the problem was going to be a catalytic converter (a $2000 repair). They also advised us that the catalytic converter was still just barely under the 80k mile warranty by just 21 miles. The next dilemma was that the nearest Volvo dealership was 70 miles away which meant having the vehicle towed. They held the car over the weekend for us while we made arrangements for the towing and service at Volvo. Their customer service, attitude and honesty was refreshing and much appreciated and I feel that I have found a trustworthy and knowledgeable service station in the area. I visited Eric Krebs Automotive for three times and they are all very good experiences. The first time, I went there for smog check of my Nissan Altima as recommended by one of my friends who had great experience there for year. The smog check was done efficiently in a few hours and I got my car back in the promised time. The staff Kris there is very honest and patient to explain to me the issues of my car, e.g., what needs to be fixed now, what can wait in a year or two. Therefore I went there the second time for replacing crank sensor, drive belt, service battery, and installing a relay cover for my car. Kris has already prepared the new parts for replacement ahead of time after I scheduled the appointment and showed me when I dropped my car. The service was done quickly within a few hours. The total with tax is $427.44 and I got an addition $25 off coupon. The third time was after I went on an unexpected rough road trip during vacation and was very worried that my car had serious damage on tires and undercarriage after I returned. I went to Eric Krebs for checking my cars because I know they will NOT fool me to charge extra money on my cars for unnecessary service. Kris helped me check my car and let me know that everything looks fine with my car and my tires are about the time to change probable in a year, which is pretty reasonable because I had them since 2009. Couldn't really help me with my car, which had the Check Engine light on and a lot of error codes were read out. Instead of offering me to start with the simple fixes and see if it goes off (which I did later on on my own), they offered me new cats and everything for almost 4k, which is ridiculous for a 10 year old car. I don't know if this is the way they can usually go with students that get everything paid by their parents, but it is definitely not the kind of mechanics that I need. smog Inspection for ~50$ is a decent price, but $120 just to read out error codes is a rip-off, will not go there again. Not too impressed with these guys. I cannot recommend them for any AC service as they use the cheap method with oil and dye and end up being lazy when looking for leaks. They said they fixed it all up and 9 months later it is completely gone, zero Freon in the system. There is no way a leak that big magically pops up in less than a year. They made me pay to test again and now told me the main components in my system have to be replaced because they are leaking now but it is not the exact part that they worked on before so it is not covered. Took to Automotive Service Center down the street...1000 times better, Richard has the good equipment and explained everything to me (even showed me the price he pays for the freon vs what EKA charged me) EKA is an example of why I hate taking my car to shops and prefer doing things myself. read more

We've been taking our cars here for the past several years. They have consistently been up front with us and have not tried to sell us unnecessary services. Just this morning I took the car in worried about an issue with the brakes. Chris tested them, looked at the fluid and pads and couldn't find anything wrong.
