Amazing service, honest investigative inspections, reasonable prices and friendly smiles. Eric is to owner, (I believe) and has suggested upon bringing my Ford F-150 in for the 100K service that we change belts and spark plugs. He said he would be doing a differential oil change too. Upon inspection he said that they took out a spark plug and it looked fairly new, then took out another one to make sure it wasn't just one plug changed. He said it appears all the plugs were changed recently and we didn't need to spend money redoing that. The differential oil was changed recently too. He could easily have changed both of these, and charged me to increase his revenue, but chose honesty. It's a rare find to know that a mechanic company stands behind their reputation of honesty. This is my first Yelp Review- I don't usually take the time or remember. However, my experience at this shop is one for the records! I happened to be spending just the weekend in town and am otherwise on the go...After learning that the grinding noise/sensation I was experiencing in my 09 Sprinter van was due to a missing caliper bolt and that I really should not drive it far at all (for the possibility of totally losing control of the vehicle), Eric managed to check out the problem (after initially telling me over the phone he wouldn't be able to get to it til after the weekend) and randomly find a bolt at the shop to fit (when no other shop or junkyard in town had one for this model). Not only was I able to drive my vehicle safely for the rest of the weekend, but he also managed to get the parts for the rest of the brake job (calipers, rotors, pads) TWO days earlier than predicted and squeak in more work to help me get out of town. When he noticed shock fluid on another area of the vehicle and mentioned being willing to put the it back up to double check some repairs I was already trying to figure out how to make happen when I reached my next destination, (I have an endlessly rusty van from the NE) - miracles took place again as he managed to get the necessary parts and squeeze in yet a third service in just 3 business days. I called around and checked other prices and I asked to see exactly what he was talking about, to which he willingly gave lots of info and printed out pictures to aid his explanation... If I lived in Goleta I would tell everyone to take their vehicle to Fairview Motors! Eric is as professional, reasonably priced, fair, considerate and kind as ANY mechanic I've ever met!! Talk about honest, professional and excellent customer service!! I am not one to post on Yelp however this shop absolutely deserves every bit of recognition. I took my wife's car in to get checked out after I started having issues with a knocking gas pedal anytime I took the car over 45mph. After Eric checked it out he informed of the issues and gave me an estimate that was unfortunately pretty expensive so naturally I took the car in for a second opinion.........and a third opinion..... I don't leave reviews often but felt like I needed to leave a review after the great service I received here. I initially brought my 67 camaro in for an alignment. Eric noticed some things that needed to be addressed to do the alignment properly. The last 2 shops before had just done a quick alignment and sent me on my way dissatisfied. We thought we heard a noise coming from the left front tire of the jeep. So I jumped on yelp and found this repair shop on the fly in Goleta. Called and went down cause we're on vacation and this concern needs to cleared up before we continue. Come to find out they couldn't fit us in and like I thought they we're booked solid. I have had two very, very good experiences with this shop. When I was driving in down town Goleta about a year ago, the car died and I limped to a local repair shop that specialized in something not relevant to the problem. They called a tow truck, and together decided to send me and my broken BMW 325i to Fairview Motors. The guys there got me back on the road by the end of the next day. I wish I could remember the owner's name, but honestly he was exceptionally patient and knowledgeable. He even spent a good 10-15 minutes with me explaining all of the usual car maintenance and service I ought to be doing, even though I was from out of town. I just called back today, because I needed the car repair records. Again the owner was exceptionally helpful, not only pulling up my records, but also answering a lot of my questions - my car is back in a repair shop! He gave me some advice about the quoted repairs, and help on how to comparison shop for quotes. All on the phone, just to be nice, as I'm 100 miles away. He mentioned that 2 of the big area shops send a lot of their work to his shops. I won't name them or the type of work, but it seems like this shop is known and trusted by other shops as good quality. While this place is listed as brakes and alignment, they do suspensions, and on my car fixed a broken pulley and belts, along with the front brake pads. read more

These guys are great! My whole family takes their cars to Eric and the crew. They're courteous, prompt, and very fair in their pricing. They're also really good at what they do! My problems are fixed the first time and I don't have to come back (until the next thing needs replacing of course). The Long: I am a mechanic and usually loathe the few times I have to hand over my truck to other people to work on. So much so, that it's only been a hand full of times that anyone but me has done any repairs and maintenance. I just don't trust most mechanics, there are so many bad ones and very few good ones. THIS SHOP IS ONE OF THE RARE GOOD ONES! Seriously impressed, they check all the boxes - professional, friendly, fair prices, clean shop (can we all take a minute to appreciate the beauty of the snap-on lifts), they don't use budget/crap parts and are not trying to up sell you on things you don't need. Great service. I dropped my car off for an alignment after getting new tires. Took less then an hour for them to complete the service. He also called to let me know there was a recommend service on my steering wheel sensor and explained why I needed it expressing more of safety then a quick sale of service. Before paying, they presented me with the data of the car as far as what the norm is and the values before and after service. I've had an issue with my brake pedal for nearly four years! I've brought the issue up to multiple garages in the past, describing it the best I could and have always been told "they couldn't replicate the problem." But I know I'm not crazy and a few weeks back when I had to stop suddenly my brakes locked up and I skidded partially into an intersection. If I had been on the freeway and had to stop suddenly like that I wouldn't have been able to. Turns out I needed my ABS module replaced. Erik from Fairview Motors did literally everything to figure out what the problem was. He went deeper than any other mechanic was willing to go to solve my issue and because of him I'm driving a much safer vehicle today. I can already tell the difference in my brakes after just driving it for one day. Not only that he had to smooth out my rotors because the problem over time had made them uneven and he didn't even charge me. I never leave reviews but these guys were so great I'm doing my first one. I brought my 2011 ford fusion hybrid to Ford to replace a wheel bearing, they estimated the job would cost at least $800 up to $2000 to fix. I told them I wanted to shop around a bit, went to a couple of places and they said they were too booked to help me. I was stranded in Santa Barbara and was afraid my car wouldn't make it back to LA. The owner Eric told me it was no problem and they'd have me taken care of in a few hours. His estimate was only $350 for the job! They dropped me off at my hotel AND picked me back up and when I got there the total cost was even cheaper at $315. I've never been so happy about a mechanic in my life. 100% recommended if you're in the area and need some work done on your vehicle. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Eric and Daryl. My wife and I have brought our cars (a 1999 Corolla and a 2000 Concorde) to them for years for maintenance as well as repairs. We keep returning because they consistently do great work for a great price. I first learned that I could trust them years ago when I brought my car in for maintenance that I thought I needed and for which I expected to pay at least $300. After taking a look at my car, they said it was well-maintained and that it only needed an oil change. In the end, I only paid a tenth of the cost that I had expected to pay - they easily could have taken me for so much more! And they have spent several hours researching and diagnosing various problems my car has without charging me more than the basic 1-hour diagnosis fee on more than one occasion, and occasionally have not charged me a diagnosis fee at all. Yesterday, we dropped off my wife's car because we could smell oil burning. By the end of the day, they had figured out the problem, ordered the needed part, and confirmed the issue was fixed. The total cost for diagnosis, cleaning up the oil, and installing and testing the part? $9.72! Apparently they replaced the part in question (valve cover gaskets) back on October 21, 2013 (about 13.5 months ago) and they volunteered on their own to honor the expired 12-month warranty. If you want an extremely honest, knowledgeable, and reputable mechanic that will charge highly reasonable rates, this is the place to go. I also agree with what others have said - these guys are also courteous, able to explain what is going on, and very easy to talk to. read more

Flew into Santa Barbara Airport and retrieved our car from the long term parking to find our engine was in "safe mode". The car would not exceed 25MPH. I pulled out on to Fairview and looked on my phone for the closest mechanic. Turned out to be 200ft in front of me, talk about luck! I rolled into the parking lot to find Eric who graciously greeted me with a smile. He was so kind and checked my car with my two annoying sons fighting in the back seat. He was busy, with only one mechanic working but still took the time to help us out. And gave treats to my kids and let us use the restroom while we made a plan. He was so helpful and honest. I cant emphasize how great the services are at this place. They are honest, reliable and really care about their customers. I used to take my car to Toyota to get my maintenance done but I feel like Toyota doesnt seem to care about its customers at all, maybe it's because it has too many customers anyways.
