So much fun! My husband and I went as a last minute date and walked in around 10:30pm we were able to sit at the priority seating (lounge chairs instead of stool) it's a small place and you can see the stage from anywhere in the restaurant. The security guard was really kind and was telling us about upcoming events and gave us a flyer. People were totally Into the music and the musicians made it really personable. The servers were dressed in beautiful flapper style dresses or they had suspenders with a nice white collared shirt. I am a huge jazz love from NYC. I still remember hanging at the Village Vangard in the Lower East SIde and Smalls was always a great place to see the experts and up and comers jam until 3AM. So, I was beyond excited when a jazz and blues club opened 10 minutes from my abode. I went down on a Sunday afternoon and immediately heard that clarinet sound with some background drums smashing. The place had an ambience that reminded me a lot of some of the clubs back East and was kind of sad missing my late uncle who was a jazz musician. I took a high top seat to get a total look at the place, but there were couches and chairs and a nice bar. Had the munchies so I got some pretzel bites which were nice a hot with my favorite stone ground mustard. I followed it up with a turkey club with some spectacular rosemary mayonnaise which took it up another level. If you like the blues and enjoy different styles of jazz from different time periods check this place out. Do not look at the politics and Covid reviews but check it out and judge it on the service, atmosphere, music and muchies. Okay so here it goes... Westside Blues and Jazz is super BADASS! They feature AMAZING local talent like "The Amber Band" and they do it perfectly! For example: The sound: not sure who their sound guy is be he is incredible! You will hear every note played from every instrument perfectly and balanced with the rest of the band's instruments! The seats: not a bad seat in the house, although the ones up by the stage are VERY comfortable (nice enough that a 4 hour show isn't hard on the posterior!). The service: is exceptional so tip them accordingly! They bring your food, drinks, etc. to your seat WITHOUT interrupting the show! And they are constantly checking while NOT interfering with the music! Amazing! The food: they do not offer a ton of items, they just offer great stuff they can server perfectly! The music: holy crap! They only offer the best of the best! You won't ever be disappointed! Bottom line, Westside Blues and Jazz is absolute perfection for entertainment delivered by professionals in an up close and personal environment! Literally one of the best live entertainment venues ever! You will be impressed with yourself for selecting this venue no matter the show! read more

For those of you that were at Westside Blues and Jazz yesterday for the Mardi Gras party on March 2nd, you know what an amazing event it was. For those of you that were not there, you missed out on an amazing event. We had a beignet vendor, jewelry vendor, massage person, and classic New Orleans cuisine. In addition, Channing and Steve Heavenstone brought in the most amazing musical artists. This is what Westside Blues and Jazz is all about. I am 69 years old and am so thrilled there is a place in the west valley where music, atmosphere, wonderful service, and great times converge. My husband and I drove from the Camelback area over to this club on the westside for the first time last night to see Curley Taylor and his Louisiana band. NOT DISAPPOINTED!!!!!! We love Zydeco and Cajun music and have very few opportunities to hear it live in Phoenix!.................... not only awesome music from the band, but the club was welcoming with all the criteria I am looking for: great staff, clean environment, critical safety measures, good seating and great host and hostess. We love the future lineup and will definitely return with friends. read more

Music and venue vibe is fantastic. Food is average. The problem was drinks watered down, couldnt even taste the Jack. Mandatory 20 % tip that left then desirable service. Upcharge to use credit card plus tix cost plus 2 min drink per guest. There are a lot of mandatory fees. Really like the place and the bands but they at least need to make better quality drinks to justify these fees. read more

Came for a birthday party on a Sunday to see Don Williams Sr and Company. We had a great time! Service was excellent and they made it easy for a party of 20 to pay separate bills. I had the cheese plate and it was delicious! Drinks were good also. Highly recommend coming here. read more

I actually like this venue! Laid back, great seating! They had an Awesome band called Soul Power! What I didn't like about this venue/ restaurant was the Cod Sliders. They were very bland. I feel like they didn't even use salt. Also I ordered a coke and was brought another without ordering, so I assumed refills were free. They were not! And on top of refills not being free, each coke was 6.00! Ridiculous! I patroned and ordered food! When asked the waitress and manager they said the prices were correct. While I do clearly understand and agree (somewhat) with their policy regarding Covid Vaccination cards, I sincerely feel what I recently experienced (having my planned BIRTHDAY Celebration ruined) after we had made reservations several weeks prior to the management implementing the "vaccination policy" Considering THEY failed to inform & alert us via email or text (after the fact) Completely unaware, we ALL show-up well dressed for the "special occasion" to sadly be turned away because one of us (in our party of 4) did not know to bring or download his CDC Vaccination card__their manager, NOT making a BETTER "judgment call" considering how intensely WE did an EXTENSIVE search Online for Maricopa County vaccination records (unsuccessfully) The more "business savvy and reasonable, fair resolution (inconsideration to avoid ruining some-ones Birthday celebration) would allow them admission; however, require they wear a mask.PERIOD! This was an EXTREMELY BAD judgement and customer service. SMH read more

My wife and I were waiting for this place to open. When it finally opened about 4 months ago, we reserved a table for 2 about a week before. We figured it might be crowded so we got there about 45 minutes early. As soon as we walked up to the door, the 2 men at the door became "interested" in my wife.....right in front of me. I let it go. When we got inside, the place was nearly empty as they showed us our table. Maybe just 4 people in the whole place. The table he showed us was a coffee table/sofa area where we had to sit with a group of women who were just seated. No offense to the women at all, but we expected a table for two. If this was a Japanese Hibachi Restaurant, we would expect to sit with strangers, but not for a romantic night out! There were at least 6 unoccupied tables for two, but they were all reserved. At the time we booked, nothing was mentioned about this policy. When we go out to a bar or restaurant and ask for a table for 2, we always got a private table, but not this place. I see now that they started a "reserve policy" so I know that we were not the only couple who they did this to. Maybe I could chalk it up to initial opening blunders, but the way Paul handled it was terrible. We asked him if he could find us a table for 2, but he flat out said said no. He did offer to put up a clear plastic "covid screen" between us and the group of ladies which was nuts to us, and I'm sure the ladies wouldn't like that either. This was not a covid issue for us. It was a privacy issue, so we declined. His answer? "I'll return your money". I said fine. He quickly walked to his cash box and grabbed $40, and practically threw it at us. I ran a chain of stores for over 40 years. That was no way to treat a customer. read more

The 5 stars is simply because I'm happy there's a place that's requiring vax proof or a clean test I AM THRILLED to give this place a try. All of the anti-vax sentiment is such a joke, so I'm hoping to offset the negative reviews with mine. I go here every so often to watch a friend's band play. I love that it's not too far from home and that it features an intimate setting with great music. The service is on point, too. My biggest issue and deterrent to coming here is that they nickel and dime you to death on almost everything. There's a 2 drink minimum, in addition to a cover charge (which is expected) when there is music. Ok, fine. Drinks, and everything, in general, are priced over what the market calls for, unless you get a well drink. I think I paid about 18 bucks for a basic Blood Mary in a tall, skinny glass. It was 12.00 and then an additional upcharge for who knows what?! I'm still not sure & feel ripped off, as pricing should be clear & all inclusive, for the most part. A basic soda/iced tea is SIX BUCKS! Why?! No place charges that much for a soda. For the vibe this place is going for, food offerings are sparse (& again, overpriced considering they come from the bar next door and are very basic.). 14 bucks for 2 bland cod sliders and no side? Do better on pricing & food & I'll raise my rating. I want to support a local business, but there is no incentive when I can pay way less to have a good time elsewhere. We went for the first time had advanced tickets. They sat us to the right of the stage where we could see the band . Once the music started several women got up moved between us and the stage and proceeded to shake there asses in front of us. When the song stopped we moved our tables closer to the stage in the hope of actually seeing the band. Again the women squeeze between us and the stage. The server comes and tells us we need to move back. We tell him we paid to see the band not a bunch 9f women shaking there ass in our face. He says sorry nothing I can do about that . Bought tickets to go weeks in advance. Then 1 business day before the show they sent us an Email stating they were not going to let us in because we did not have covid vax! NO mention on their webpage (there is now), no mention anywhere in the ticket purchasing process. Then we had to haggle to get our money back because they wouldn't let us in. They also lied to us and had a haughty attitude about the whole issue. What a way to treat your customers! read more
