As I type I'm sitting here waiting for the Dr. I have been reluctantly coming year over year to this clinic because it is convenient. I have never been impressed by the customer service and wait times. I am now an hour into my appointment and have not seen the Dr. Apparently they have been having troubles with their computer system which didn't check me in.. However the gal was at the desk and saw me sitting there for over 30 min. I finally went and asked. She said they'd be right out another 10 min to put me in a room for now 23 min. I am so frustrated they wasted my time like this to include having to get off early from work. I know it happens but this is not the first time here. read more

I made my appointment a month out. The day before I was to be seen, the front desk called and canceled. They scheduled it wrong and would not help me find a new time. I wrote my review on google stating this and it caused the office to call me. I told them what happened and they scheduled me again, making me wait two weeks out. I called this morning to ask a question about my appointment and they said no appointment had been made. If I had not called I would of wasted all my time heading out to this appointment. read more

I have been on accutane for 4 months now. I've been to westside dermatology for years to be treated for acne. While they used to be good, there has been a noticeable decline of their practice after covid hit. It is always a waste of time to go. I would recommend seeing Marcus Ramsey, but I currently see Eli Wood and wait at least an hour in the waiting room every time. It wastes my day and I've even heard of other people waiting 1.5 hrs. I have had them send my prescription to the wrong pharmacy multiple times. Not to mention, the receptionists do not answer the phone, respond to voicemails, or communicate in any way. It is impossible to get in touch or schedule an appointment. I've had to physically go in twice to get in touch with them. I went in today to schedule a follow up appointment for another month of accutane (my last month) and they don't have an available appointment until the middle of September. I am on a very serious medication, and refuse to wait that long just for a prescription refill. The receptionist continues to tell me that I may have to restart the process?!?!? After 5 months of hell, dry lips, eyes, back pain, face peeling.... You tell me I have to RESTART. I thought it was a joke. The amount of stress and hassle it has been to work with them is indescribable. I would not recommend going to them. read more

This rating applies to Dr. Wilske. I have seen her three times. She usually was running very late and the appointments were extremely rushed. I had reservations about her diagnoses because of her rushed exams and several of her recommendations. I went to another dermatologist for a second opinion and learned that Dr. Wilske's diagnoses were incorrect, and two especially could have had serious consequences for me. She gave me a sample of a spray-on steroid to treat some small bumps on my scalp, telling me it might not work but it would make my hair feel soft. When I expressed concern about using steroids unnecessarily, she told me that skin doesn't absorb the steroids or anything else so there was no reason for concern. And she recommended using tar shampoo or Head and Shoulders for ongoing treatment to keep the bumps from getting worse. I learned from the second dermatologist that the bumps were actinic keratoses and the proper treatment is to freeze them using liquid nitrogen. They are a precancerous growth caused by sun exposure. Dr. Wilske gave me samples for what she said could be a fungal infection when I showed her a mark on my toenail. The second dermatologist asked if something had fallen on my toe as it was apparent that it was an injury caused by a trauma to my toenail, and not a fungus. Dr. Wilske strongly recommended a topical antibiotic for my face, saying that I might have rosacea, despite the fact that I have no symptoms and that I told her that I didn't want to treatment for something that wasn't a problem. She told me that a relative had tried this approach and that the problem went away. I repeated that I didn't feel it was a problem and she encouraged treatment anyway. The second dermatologist told me that I do not have rosacea and explained the reasons that my complexion is a little more rosy than most, including the fact that I run warmer than most people, and encouraged me to use cool water and stay out of hot environments (which I do, because I'm always warm and seek out cooler situations.) Dr. Wilske did what was supposed to be a full-body skin exam that took all of maybe 2 minutes, at most, super rushed and all the while talking about other subjects. The second dermatologist took well over 5 minutes, approaching it fully focused and asking pertinent questions, using a magnifier several times to check areas sometimes two to three times, and carefully checked my feet, both top and bottom, which Dr. Wilske did not do. There was no comparison between the two exams. I asked Dr. Wilske about some discoloration of my skin along my calves. She told me what it was (I don't remember what the condition is called) and said that nothing can be done about it and that it would get worse over time. The other dermatologist told me that it was caused by poor circulation as the result of varicose veins and there were several things I could do to slow the onset, including moving my feet to help the circulation, and keep my feet up whenever I am able to do so. Dr. Wilske easily provides samples, which would be great if they were the proper treatment. although her instructions on their use are incomplete and seemingly an afterthought as she was leaving the room. And during followup appointments, she contradicted what she had told me to do (2 weeks on, 2 weeks off, then repeat until next visit eight weeks later. Then when I came in for my followup, she told me that I should have stopped using the product if the spot went away.) In addition, a friend's mother went to this clinic for many years, and recently, over the course of several months had repeated visits to check a suspicious spot on her face. Her doctor at Westside Dermatology recommended just continuing to watch it. After more than six months of appointments, she went to a different dermatologist, who diagnosed it as advanced skin cancer that required immediate surgery by a plastic surgeon. It turned out to be a very serious and scary situation for her, that should have been caught much earlier by Westside Dermatology. That doctor recently left Westside Dermatology but because of the rushed examinations and inaccurate diagnoses by Dr. Wilske, I wanted to include it in this review. read more

Despite your response, I will not be returning. The treatment of acne, as you mentioned, is undoubtedly complex and detailed. However, your physician failed one of the most basic aspects of patient care: LISTENING to the patient. Too often, physicians will pick up on bits and pieces of what a patient is saying and rush to a diagnosis that is familiar to them, as opposed to listening to everything the patient is telling them and then forming a conclusion based on the whole picture. For example, Dr. Wilske was telling me to moisturize before prescribing any sort of acne medication, i.e. she was not telling me to moisturize to off-set the drying effects of treatment (as you suggested). She was simply making a sweeping generalization without considering the things I was telling her (i.e. my history, I had been moisturizing with an oil free moisturizer, and it made the situation worse. This was true for all 3 oil-free moisturizers I had used). In short, she was dismissive and rushed. As a practice, I suggest you concern yourself more with the quality of patient care rather than the quantity of patients you see. read more

I am getting my third medical facial from Jennifer this week and I absolutely love her! My usual breakouts have been pretty much non-existent since I have been seeing her and she is really thorough and takes the time to really deep clean the pores! I've also seen Dr. Collyer for a not so pleasantly placed mole removal and he did a great, super fast job and I have no scarring. read more

If your time is valuable, avoid this practice! My appointment was at 3pm. I arrived 5 minutes early as instructed to complete new patient paperwork. I was pleasantly surprised when the intake nurse called my name at a few minutes past 3. She was efficient but not especially friendly or kind and told me to put on the gown and the doctor would be in shortly. I then waited for over an hour for the doctor to appear. When she did, she had the wrong patient name and chart and I had to correct her. She then left for another five minutes to get that straightened out. There was never an apology or explanation for why I was kept waiting for an hour and 15 minutes. I also felt that Dr Wood was in a hurry and I did not get the quality check-up I wanted. I had restylane for dark circles under my eyes. The procedure was painless. Afterwards, I was a bit lightheaded, so they gave me an apple and some crackers. All better! I have been going to Westside Dermatology since last fall for a chronic keloid condition on my chest. I've seen a few other dermatologist for this condition but always stopped treatment due to the amount of pain associated with injections. I decided to start treatments again and was lucky enough to see Dr. Markus who is very approachable and knowledgeable. He discussed a new keloid treatment that I hadn't tried and several treatments later, I am very happy with my results! He also uses numbing agent to help with the pain, which I was never offered before by other dermatologist before injections. My condition will likely require injections every few months for the next few years but I am so happy I came to Westside Dermatology to restart treatment. The clinic is beautiful and I haven't had any bad experiences. I trust Dr. Markus with my keloids- highly recommend! read more

Nice to have a well respected dermatologist in West Seattle. On both times I have been, the doctors were quite late in seeing me, and then seemed pretty rushed in getting through my appointment. They prescribed me some medicines for my face, but didn't really take the time I had hoped to talk through skin-care regimen in general and how the medicines worked or fit into my overall skin care. I could have asked - so I take responsibility for that - but it felt a little rushed. The office is modern and clean and the front desk folks were nice. read more

I went to this clinic on the recommendation of my regular doctor. I called to make an appointment and I was easily able to get a very convenient appointment time very quickly. Fortunately for me they start seeing patients about 8am so you don't have to be late for work. I've been here twice for treatment and was able to get in and out very easily. Everyone who works here from the front desk staff to the nurses to the doctors have been very friendly. I saw Dr. Collyer on the first visit and then returned a second time for the surgical procedure with the Physician Assistant, Amy Nelson. I had a cyst removed from my back right on my spine and Amy Nelson, PA, was very gentle in removing it and I had no pain whatsoever during the procedure. She made me feel very comfortable and was very gentle. I was on a deadline to get some moles removed before my insurance ran out and Dr. Collyer himself called me to let me know they had earlier appointments open up due to cancellation. Now that is service. There is complimentary parking in a small lot in front of the building and also to the side of the building there is free parking for up to 3 hours. I didn't have any issues with parking while here but I also came early in the morning. I highly recommend this clinic to anyone looking for a dermatologist. read more

First and foremost, I get pretty nervous when going to the doctor's office... However, my experience with Westside Dermatology has made me feel differently. Parking was easy, and upon entering the clinic, I was taken aback by the atmosphere! Even the paint color made me feel like I was somewhere more relaxing than a waiting room. The front desk staff was extremely friendly and a pleasure to interact with. Talking with Dr. Arntzen, I was not only treated but I learned about my condition. This, I feel, is extremely rare from health care providers. She spoke to me like a person for whom she cared, not just another patient. Most importantly, the treatments have been very effective. Overall, my experience with this clinic was outstanding. And while I'm not in a huge hurry to get back into a doctor's office, I would return to Westside Dermatology without reservation. Every function of this office is incompetent. I have had three full-body exams here, which were done by 3 different doctors because the doctors keep leaving this practice. When the doctors run for the door, the patients should follow! I thought I might get some consistency when I was finally given the owner as my doctor, but nope - they wanted to push me off onto someone else for my 4th appointment. I decided to leave instead. Last year, during my exam, I had pointed out a spot that I had a concern about. My concern was brushed aside. This year, the doctor decided to remove that spot to be on the safe side. I received a voicemail a couple days later but when I called the receptionists said they were too busy and hung up on me. The doctor herself called me the next day saying it was critical for me to get in immediately for surgery. Of course, the receptionists never told her that I had tried to call back. Patients, health and competency are not important to this clinic. I'm not going back here. read more

I rarely think about posting reviews for things other than food on Yelp. However it occured to me that I've received some damn fine service and treatments from Westside Dermatology. I originally came here for a medical facial. It's something just as pleasant, more thorough IMO, but less frou-frou than what you'd get at a spa. Jennifer is the facialist and she's sweet as pie! I always leave there feeling clean and refreshed. I also had an opportuity to see the doctor for a full-body mole inspection, plus he took off a problem spot on my nose. Luckily it wasn't anything to be concerned about. Doctor Collyer and his assistant were super duper friendly, knowledgable, and made me feel secure and welcome. I highly recommend Westside for any of your skin ailments and treatments. They're the bomb! read more

Dr. Kendal Wilske is my doctor. She has been for two years. I absolutely love her and she is so relaxed and nice to have as a doctor. She has taken better care of me than any other dermatologist I have ever had and I'm blond with fair skin, so I've seen a few. There is skin cancer in my family so she knows my fears and she is very good about putting them all to rest. Returned for Botox by Dr. Collyer, and am so far quite pleased with the results. I was very nervous about some of the side-effects. I had really scared myself with all those awful stories & photos online... to the point that I was feeling light-headed while waiting for the doctor. Dr. Collyer was reassuring once again, and he did the injections very carefully. He understood that I don't want to look like plastic. He warned me that the existing lines in my forehead might smooth out some, but that Botox doesn't make existing lines disappear. He also suggested that I get additional injections between my eyes, right above my nose. He wasn't pushy about it though. I decided to forego the additional injections until I saw the results of the first round. 3 days later I started to see some effects from the botox, and after 4 days I could see my final results. I am very pleased. I took photos each day, and I can't believe how different I look. There is some very minor distortion, in that since the injections were higher in my forehead, my lower brow still wrinkles up but the upper brow remains still. I think that's why he suggested the additional injections. Though the existing lines (resting face) aren't completely gone, they have been significantly reduced. I really love the results so far. I look younger, and my face looks so much better. I am also very pleased that the results don't look "fake". read more
