Tight aisles, everyone fighting for their lives to grab the same bananas, registers are tight, staff is always in the middle of the aisles restocking as you're trying to shop in the tight rows with your big cart. This was not the case for your location. It was so perfectly wide and big loved all the plant varieties and the organization. Everything was so easy to find and the aisles are large enough for everyone to do their shopping in any direction they want. When one appeared, he mentioned he wasn't able to heat it up, which was OK for me - planned on gobbling it up after paying. On the whole the store, only on street level, was easy to maneuver. When walking through the rest of the store, not sure how much of a smaller, curated selection they have, but did not see a cheesemonger, butcher, or fresh seafood set like in regular stores. That being said, there was no line for checking out. Immediately started eating the Cardamom Bun - which was baked either in the morning or day before. Given it wasn't that fresh, it really should have been discounted. Down the street from the crowded shops at Union Square, this East Village/StuyTown E. 14th block has become another location in town with the retail winning Trifecta of where Manhattanites like to shop: Trader Joe's, Target, and (of course) Whole Foods!

There was a sign taped to the Urban Remedy juices advertising 25% off. I thought, "Great, I'll stock up," and picked out approximately $100 worth of juice. At the end of self-checkout, I noticed that the 25% discount had not been applied, so I asked an employee about it and pointed out the sign. She went over to the juice display and returned less than two minutes later holding the 25% off sign that had been taped to the display. She then began yelling at me that the promotion was no longer valid and that I had to pay full price. I found this especially confusing considering she was literally holding the sign that had advertised the discount. I asked her to please stop yelling at me and asked why the sign was still displayed if the promotion had ended. Instead of simply answering the question, she continued raising her voice. I repeatedly asked her to stop yelling at me, but she continued. At that point, I just wanted the interaction to be over. I paid the full price and left. I never would have purchased $100 worth of juice had it not been advertised as 25% off, but the situation had become so uncomfortable that I didn't want to continue arguing. What made the entire experience even stranger was that she repeatedly yelled that there was "nothing she could do," even though I wasn't asking her to do anything about the price at that point--I was simply asking her to stop yelling at me. It was an unnecessarily hostile and upsetting interaction over what should have been a very simple question about a clearly displayed sale sign. I have never experienced anything like this at a grocery store, and unfortunately, it has completely changed the way I feel about shopping at Whole Foods.

They really load it with a generous amount of whipped cream. I wish there was more cake and less filling. A minor issue though. This cake is way better than those offered by other large chain grocery stores. Very dependable. Love the elegant box and delicate orange ribbon - very nice touch.

It's got lots of things like dried beans, grains, and more. They are certainly very environmentally friendly, charging a fee for bioplastic bags, so they encourage customers to bring their own. Apparently it's Lower Manhattan's only food cooperative. To be a working member it's a $48 annual fee, and they work a few hours a week. Included are discounts on items. Those not working can pay a $60 annual fee to get discounts on things. For sure there's a lot of healthy stuff in here. It's also good to buy local. The store has tons of environmentally safe products as well as things for vegans and vegetarians.
