I often pop in to see the price of egg cartons as sometimes they are cheaper than Trader Joe's. I got a Portuguese bread roll and a quarter pound of Black Forest ham. A sandwich instead of the usual salad for lunch the next day. Then I saw that there is a new ice cream brand available - New City. Liquid nitrogen is used to churn this ice cream to make it creamy. After research I may spend money to taste a pint. It's sad that no one is giving a demo about it. I would be first in line. read more

Westside Market is a great grocery store option that is conveniently located on the corner of 3rd Ave and 17th Street. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted with fully stacked aisles of ready-to-eat food. If you keep walking towards the back, you will see other prepared food options, such as the warm food buffet. The lovely ladies in the back helped me to a serving of fresh chipotle salmon, creamy linguini, and a side of steamed broccoli. I took advantage of the special and the total came out to be ~$20. It was a huge heaping of food, so much so, that I was able to eat some for lunch and the rest for dinner. Huge shoutout to management, Carlos & Russell, for the A+ customer service and for ensuring that every patron feels safe and welcome in their space. read more

This store could be pricy than Whole Foods markets. It's very convenient as located in front of the bus stop - M101, M102 and M 103. When I was there, I saw the delicious Hummus samples and I couldn't forget the taste...yummy! So I purchased it :) Cashier is nice and quick. I recommend to shop at this location. read more

Prices are getting insane! I just paid $6.50 for one tomato! It's daylight robbery. I usually only go here for things I need in a pinch, but at this point I'd rather walk a block to Trader Joe's or Target. Their presentation and variety are good, I'll give them that. read more

For the first five weeks I was in New York I mainly shopped at Trader Joes, only to find this Westside Market equidistant from where I have been staying. What a nice store! Great selection of everything: fresh fruits and vegetables, delicious bagels, good deli, a lot of lovely pre-made meals which is great if you are staying in a dorm. This is always my Sunday stop on my way to church for Coffe and a Bagel/ roll. Staff is always so helpful and pleasant. Great and convenient spot to grab a bouquet or few of flowers. They also make catering platters and have a variety of groceries and drinks. A big plus is the often have half cakes in case you want 2 different flavors. read more

The store is so neat and clean. They always have fresh foods. As for the beer section, what an awesome selection of beers etc and I love their displays.... Always on par!! i was their customer on and off for 4 yrs as i prepared to leave the city. ordering from 2 locations on lower 3rd ave. unfortunately, they don t live up to their claim of having good customer service. orders regularly took 2 hours. most dispaointing--when they knew it was my last order , i had to send things back 2xs and i still got things i did not ask for!! in other words, they will sub things a lot without telling you. it happened a lot. sadly, they dont see to realize how impt it is to hire people that speak english well, to compete with nearby wegmens.. good luck! read more

I've never seen so much food, beer, soda and everything else that you can possibly think of packed into one store, very neatly I might add. The deli counter is a mile long and everything inside the case looked very good. I purchased two bottles of water and a 20 ounce bottle of Coke and surprisingly it was only four dollars, great stop. read more

This place is dangerously racist. I stopped here on a quick lunch break, I never been there before so I had to do a quick browse to see what they offered as far as take out options. I ended up just getting a sandwich from the deli. While waiting for my sandwich to be prepared I walked off to look for a drink and a snack to go with my meal but noticed everywhere I turned there was an employee following me around. I'm black and as uncomfortable as it is I am aware that this treatment comes with my skin color as I'm always being watched and followed in someone's store my image (skin color) seems to represent a criminal, thief, liar and aggressor so I'm always cautious to how I move in public places even in a damn supermarket buying food in 2024 NYC. When my sandwich was done the deli guy called me to the back to pick it up and I let him know that the employees were following me around and that in cases like this I don't spend my money in a place that looks down on me in a racist way as a paying customer but because he took his time to prepare it I decided to suck it up and take it to the front register and pay. As I'm ringing up my items the guy who rang up my things seemed really stiff with me like I did something wrong. Another customer who was in the store was trying to leave but the door was locked the same door everyone used to enter the store was now mysteriously locked so he stepped off from me to open the door. I immediately knew what it was they locked the store because of me these ppl locked me in the store as I unknowingly shopped in these ppl store as a willingly paying customer I was being profiled and unbeknownst to me they were plotting on me to steal something. So I say wow I hope that wasn't for me you sent your employees to follow me around as I shopped and then locked me in the store I will never come back here and he said nothing because he was shocked that I was aware of the plot. As I write this with tears in my eyes the thought hurts because this could of ended bad innocent ppl have lost their lives shopping in stores due to false racial profiling and it just scares me to think about what could of happened if these ppl just wanted give me a hard time I could of been killed beaten and arrested for shopping while black over a sandwich a sandwich soda and some chips I would never shop here ever again and I wish your business no well you people are dangerous!! read more

This store is practicing dishonestly. We bought a gallon of milk on the night of 4/9 to make our own yogurt, after 2 pots were wasted, we realized the milk might have problem, and checked they are actually selling 4/4/22 expired milk on 4/9. I went to the store trying to exchange, but the manager tried all the ways to insulting me by hinting I have used all milk, didn't buy in his place, yelling me saying I'm ridiculous, etc. Until he find the transaction (thank God, we used credit card) and exchanged the milk. By this morning 8: 10am, this store is stilling selling milk with 4/10 expiration date. If they can sell milk with an obvious expiration date, they can sell so many other foods without the labels. Don't trust this store, they are not managing in a fair and honest way. I would give negative 10 if I could. read more

my husband and I have been going to this westside market location for a few years. there prices have steadily climbed for many items, while the size of portions has shrunk and the quality of certain prepared foods have gone downhill. Just yesterday we bought a "triple berry blast" loaf cake that was $5.99 and had no berries inside when you sliced it. That's a lot of money for some plain dough. When you walk in the door, you're presented with an overwhelming selection of salads and an entire wall of other prepared foods. I never understood how they could possibly sell that quantity, as the store would need to be as crowded as a Trader Joe's. But there's never been more than a handful of people there when I've shopped. On my latest visit I came to the conclusion that these stacks of containers must be just for display, to whet the shoppers' appetite. Because I bought a few at $10 each, only to discover they're god awful. Whoever makes them doesn't taste before packaging as they're all under seasoned. The two items I purchased with pesto had no flavor of it, despite the slight green hue. Thai chicken salad? No flavor whatsoever. The chicken cutlet with sesame noodles had a slight delicate flavor, but the pieces of chicken were dry like cardboard. I don't mind paying a premium for delicious food, but this place is a ripoff selling tasteless fare. And there's no convenience if I have to spend time at home doctoring their food to make it edible. read more
