My child loves this environment, he's learned so much in a short amount of time. The coaches, and other kids all have great energy.

When you ask the employees, they say "I don't know, I don't really cycle". I'm not sure what that has to do with knowing how to use the equipment at the gym that you do in fact work at. The staff is the primary reason I decided to cancel my membership. They are simply bodies in a chair. They won't help, they don't say hello or greet you, they seem like they'd rather be anywhere else. They act like you're interrupting their personal conversation when you need to buy a water or ask literally anything. Cycling classes come and go without wiping the equipment. The cleaning standards here are 7/10. The best selling point here is the pool. It's nice to swim indoors, but there are only 3 lanes. Also, the cycling instructor, (Bernard I believe?) is the reason this gym gets a third star vs 1. Overall, the staff not knowing how equipment works, saying you're SOL when none of their bikes work, and being overall rude and unpleasant really kill the energy here more than I imagined. When I first signed up, I felt like it did not matter if the staff was rude- but here we are. I would rather pay less, knowing i'm going to get sub par service. If I'm going to pay almost $200, I would expect cleanliness and employees who know anything about the gym.

Let's face it: training can get pretty dull if you just slog through miles by yourself. Training with others (like those you will find in the LATC) will not only push you to go faster, it will help you enjoy yourself more. Even though I can't participate in the group workouts anymore, i remain in contact with several of my friends from LATC as well as my coach (whom I met through LATC). Just talking them occasionally about training gives me that extra motivation that I need to go crush the next long brick workout. Add in the speakers, discounts, etc. and the membership is definitely worth the $100 or whatever it costs.

The great feeling starts right at the door…read more Everyone at the front desk knows my name and greets me with a smile. Eder opens the door with a high five every single day, and Sydney is genuinely one of the nicest people you'll meet -- their warm welcome alone motivates me to come to the gym daily. Mike, the manager, has made this the best gym I've ever seen, even though it's not a top-tier location. The improvement since he started is drastic. All the cardio machines are brand new with huge screens, the stretching area has new mats, and equipment covers have been renewed. He also gets things done fast -- I asked him about battery banks, and two weeks later they were there. A few small suggestions that could make this the best gym ever: 1. Upholstery inspections should be monthly. Most pads were replaced, but a few cracked ones remain, and the cracks pinch your skin. (Also, the lower bike on the left ramps intensity to max on its own -- likely a warranty fix.) 2. Hair dryers are outdated. Other Equinox locations have Dysons -- would love to see them here. 3. Paper towel dispensers are manual. Sensor dispensers (like other Equinox clubs have) would be more hygienic. 4. The new cleaning team isn't quite at the previous level. Mopping starts 20 minutes before close while members are still finishing up, and for the first time ever, shower towels ran out. The previous team never had these issues. 5. The AC struggles on warmer days -- upper floors get pretty hot. None of this changes the bottom line: thanks to Mike, Eder, Sydney, and the front desk team, this club keeps getting better. Highly recommended!

The GENERAL MANAGER , name "Mike Smith" Very disrespectful,…read moreunethical, and unprofessional. Today I stopped by at this location to grB a shake and tKe a picture of the back examination machine, so I can search for a home version one. I am a former member , with 6 years of continuous membership, and due to my recent injury on a treadmill on BH location , I had to cancel my membership since 2 months ago, when I arrived today at SM , I explained to this general manager that all I need is to be accompanied by one of the available employees to the back extension machine, for me to take couple of pictures. This rude , non-gentleman manager told me about the policy of the club being exclusive to members only , and refused to help me. I walked out feeling disappointed, disrespected , and betrayed. I don't think people such this guy name "Mike Smith" can present equinox club properly, instead they would make the reputation of the company jeopardized . He definitely needs to address his behavior, and instead of only following the polices , practice some leadership manners, as well as kindness and compassion. I would never visit this club again because of this general manager's poor skills of management, and terrible customer service. I strongly believe he doesn't fit the culture of Equinox club at all.

Gave them a second, third, and fourth chance…read more.. This was probably my 7th time joining zog sports league and EVERY TIME there is a screw up. I really liked joining to stay active and getting to meet new people. However I won't be joining their leagues any longer and I urge you all to do the same. This time I joined a basketball league in Koreatown. Perhaps a new location would be better... The whole setup was a mess- players didn't know which team they were on, refs didn't show up, and parking was a nightmare (ok, parking isn't technically their fault). We only played 3 games total - the rest were either forfeited or played half court because none of the teams and players showed up. Before I didn't blame Zog but this has been a recurring scenario every season which leads me to believe they are padding their roster and teams. We were promised to have two referees every week - only one shows up every week. We always have to have a player on a team to track score and fouls because of this. Our final game of the season AND playoffs were cancelled because they didn't properly secure the venue. They didn't offer us refunds and gave us a laughable $5 credit to join future leagues. You have one important job that is to secure the venue and couldn't even do that... To sum it up... DO NOT JOIN SAVE YOUR MONEY. Another note they didn't mention anything about charity and which org we would like to donate to this time (which they clearly state in their website). Pretty much scam artists what more can I say.

I even stay after my game to play other games because sometimes players don't show up so they need subs, there no ref fees ! THANK GOD ! Now I'm playing softball and won a few of my leagues overall a great experience and my home. I promise you you'll have the best adult rec sports time of your life

Coach Flanders and his team of SMHS student coaches are all great and very supportive which is much appreciated. I like that the SM coaches are not as intense as some of the clubs we have played against. I think that is a little much for kids who are 9 and 10 years old. This season she is doing the swim skills classes on Saturdays and has loved the teachers that help with that and really enjoys going every week. Overall I would say the Westside is very lucky to have this club, I would (and have) recommend it to any parent!

The…read moreSamohi water polo and swim team coach, Matt Flanders, started this club (I don't know when - he's a Samohi alum himself) but several years ago, my then four/five year-old son started playing splash ball with the Viking club. He liked it enough but had interest in other sports and only played for a short time. Last spring my son (nine at the time) returned to the Viking Club to prepare for the Junior Lifeguard swim test (yes, they offer a swim skills program too). After passing the Junior Lifeguards test my son realized he actually liked swimming and the water and wanted to give water polo another shot (he was encouraged by his older sister who plays water polo for Samohi, helps with the splash ball program, and plays with the Viking club's newly formed high school aged group). My son is now hooked and can't wait to get to practice! The Viking club is a competitive club which also allows kids an opportunity to develop their skills. The coaches are supportive and kind, don't go crazy mad when the team looses but are constructive and instructive and encourages the kids to improve. Lastly, I love this club because it gives my kids a safe, healthy place to spend their time. I mentioned that my daughter has an opportunity to help coach the littlest kids in the program and I love that Matt Flanders encourages his high school players to get involved and help out (and she gets paid too!). It's her first job and she takes it very seriously. I think the little kids LOVE that there are "big" kids in the water and the "big" kids make it fun! I just can't stop saying how I love this club! It doesn't hurt that we live within walking distance to Samohi (AKA Santa Monica High School). Now with two kids in this sport and on this club team (as well as high school team) we happily spend many weekends and after school days at the pool and my son is looking forward to playing high school water polo. We will be wet for many years to come!
