I have only used them for tanning. They are polite and attentive. The machines are quality and kept in working order.

I have been going to Westside Tan probably close to 14 years and U-Tan before that. I've been extremely loyal but that is starting to slip. I loved when they had two spots in SCV and I understand why they got rid of location #2 but I feel like since they got rid of the one on Newhall Ranch it's just not the same. I get the vibe that because they are really the only tanning salon in SCV (that I know of) they know that and they can be rude and what not and it doesn't matter because where else we gonna go if we want to tan. You get charged a 10 dollar fee right off that bat if your card on file doesn't go through for whatever reason EVEN if you go in the same day and take care of it. A few girls in the front are super helpful and sweet but they have their share of snotty girls as well that you can tell just don't give a crap. And when you're the only place in town you would hope they would take better care of their beds but one room has been down for what seems like a month. All of it matters even if they don't think so. Like I stated I've been super loyal and it feels like that loyalty doesn't mean anything to them, we are just dollar signs. Regardless I'll continue to go because I like to tan but I feel like they need to know how their customers feel!! read more

As an avid tanning salon go-er I had high hopes for this place. Unfortunately my favorite tanning salon in the area recently closed for business and I was forced to come here. I'll start off by saying the atmosphere is nice and everything is very clean. Aside from that , there's nothing else good about this place. Some of staff is rude, seems like you're just a number to them and they just want you in & out fast. Not personable at all like I've experienced in other salons. 0 customers service training at all. I came in yesterday to tan in bed #11 and 6 bulbs were out. When I brought this to the attention of someone up front she said "that machine sometimes overheats and the breaker needs to be reset, resulting in the bulbs going out" which makes 0 logical Sense and just sounds like an excuse for management not doing proper maintenance on the beds. I then came in today to tan and was asked if I had goggles. (Note I've been tanning here for 2 months now and no one has ever said anything about that) she said if I didn't have goggles that I wouldn't be able to tan or I can purchase them for $9. The problem is not needing goggles. I understand per their policy you have to have them. But the fact that they don't properly communicate to their staff & customers about this rule. If it's a requirement to have goggles you should be providing them for your clients. Of course they have a sign about this rule but it's in an area no one would look... I didn't notice till today.. I pay a steep price for the membership and other salons normally provide goggles but west-side does not. I don't mind paying a premium. Especially as things have gotten so expensive. But if you're going to require guests to have goggles you should be the one to provide them like other salons. This is like going to the car wash and having to bring your own soap concept. It's just bad business. The associate working was kind but she asked me to "be patient with us please, we've been having allot of complaints". Honestly, Im sorry for speaking my opinion as a paying customer but if I was the business owner I'd want to know about any issues and fix them right away instead of asking clients to "be patient with the staff , it's not their fault" (a sign they recently put up). Clearly im not the only one upset at this establishment since they went as far as to put up a ridiculous sign for all their clients to see. Lastly they recently added security cameras. Which is totally fine. But if you've been here all the bed rooms are like cubicles and the ceilings are wide open. They recently added a camera high up and looks like it's peeking into the tanning rooms. Specifically bed #1. I noticed this a couple weeks ago and didn't mention it but now I just had to say something. To me this is an invasion of privacy and the cameras should not be installed so high that it looks like the camera can see directly into your tanning room. Makes me feel uncomfortable coming in here god forbid someone is peeking at their clients in the tanning rooms. Other people who tan here have also told me the camera makes them feel uncomfortable. I have been a member for a few months and have been very pleased with the overall salon. My only complaint was that one of the receptionists was very rude after an issue which she caused. I contacted the corporate office and explained my concerns. The manager was extremely apologetic and eased my concerns. I would definitely recommend this salon. read more

I cannot thank Westside Tan enough for everything that they have done for me. I recently ate at Madrid and got severe salmonella poisoning. So I have a membership and have been going here for years. Unfortunately, the beds now are missing bulbs or the bulbs are burnt out. This has happened multiple times. Membership is not cheap and they should have these beds working perfectly everyday! Get your shit together or I'm going to cancel as will many others who have who have said they've experienced the same. read more

The $65ish membership is very reasonable for what it offers. You can use any bed or wellness treatment including the fancy tanning beds and a red light treatment bed. The staff is cool. They are young kids probably working their first jobs ever so people need to be a little understanding. I'm saying this because of other reviews, I personally haven't had any issues with any of the staff. They have all been awesome and helpful to this old lady who knows nothing about all these new fancy beds. The beds and rooms are clean. You might see a little dust or dirt under the glass but let's be real... first it's not touching you... second whose gonna clean they all the time?! You would have to go take the entire bed apart. I purchased a special on the red light therapy in December, and when I went in to use a session in May, they said I didn't have any, and that the special never existed. They basically told me that I wasn't telling the truth. I would not recommend getting any specials from the salon because they don't hold up their side of the deal and you can't thrust them. read more

I have never written a review before today...and as much as I hate to during these trying times. Here goes. I wanted a week of tanning for a trip, ended up with a month membership $118.00 (apparently there was a $25.00 service fee WTH) I let it go, didn't want to bother with it. I canceled my membership on the 1st of June, only to be charged again another $78.50. I called and got no where, sent another email only to be charged another $78.50. I finally got a response back saying they couldn't refund my money because I didn't cancel. I canceled twice! No exceptions...so I paid $257.00 for a week of tanning. They could clearly check their records and see that I never used the service, why would I keep the membership. I will not be going to Westside Tan again read more

This is the best tanning salon in Santa Clarita (Newhall ranch rd location as well), I love it so much! The owners and employees are awesome and helpful. The place is always clean and they offer so many different beds and services. They have body wraps/cocoon, red light bed, stand up tanning beds, sunless, etc.... it's awesome I have been coming to them for years and always been super happy and satisfied. November - December 2019. Developed a rash on my butt cheek after using tanning beds. I thought it was a heat rash from sweating. After the death of spouse I've Been celibate 2004. Why am I posting this? I haven't ever had an STDs. Now 65 years old I ended up with herpes type 1 on my butt cheek. Now I'm not saying 100% I got it from the tanning bed but I sure as hell didn't get it from having person-to-person contact being celibate since 2004. And on my butt cheek?! Trust me the only place I'm naked besides my own home is in a tanning bed. Which is where I lay on the tanning bed naked so if you research it YES it's possible to get herpes & STDs from a tanning bed if it's not clean properly & no the heat from the tanning bed will not kill herpes germ. It was even on the Doctor TV show. You can see it on YouTube. I'm freaking out and I'm telling you bring your own cleaning stuff to clean the bed yourself! I will never go to another tanning bed as long as I live. I really had no business being in a tanning bed 65 years old anyway what was I thinking. NOW I've got a live with this I don't know if it'll ever get the rash again on butt or anywhere else. I'm not happy one bit! Coming from San Diego with having the luxury of high quality tanning salons being just as popular as Starbucks (lol) this place was a dream! The pricing is beyond reasonable for the quality and different services they have to offer! The beds are clean and the staff is ridiculously friendly and keep the upmost manor of professionalism even when dealing with not so fantastic clients! I've witnessed a handful of times some tacky situations and the staff handled themselves very well in my opinion. If hair salons didn't know they'd be deemed as non essential businesses during covid19 absolutely the staff and owners of this salon could have been taken by surprise as well. The membership at this salon is nothing outrageous and if we want life to return to normal after the pandemic, supporting our favorite spots isn't asking too much from us as clients! They changed the sign, and this is Westside Tan. They have updated everything and its beautiful. The NEW beds are all outstanding. They are high intensity beds so you don't have to go as long and get sweat dripping off of you. And bonus one of the new beds has an aroma feature and mist feature and its totally worth it. The packages are suitable for everyone, if you have questions just ask. The owners and the staff are excellent and very understanding and try to help you in the best way possible to prolong your tan. They have individual package lotions you can purchase from $5 up to $12 or full bottles, Love Boho by Swedish Beauty is my favorite and smells like skittles. This place is so much better, and I like that I can go to multiple salons with my monthly membership. They are also very accommodating as well if a bed from my package is unavailable and its not that much to upgrade to the next bed ($5-$9). A membership is expensive and I only want to be tan for certain occasions or when I have the time so I start tanning a month or two weeks before and when I'm not using my membership I put it on hold for $1 a month. read more

Started coming here back when it was Luv Tan and was a happy customer. When Westside Tan bought this business they immediately changed the pricing and took away all of the amenities like the baby wipes, deodorant, etc. I understand that some changes needed to be made, but I think the new owners went about it all wrong. I exclusively spray tan, and prefer Versa booths over other options. I'm fine buying a large package to save some money since I know I am consistently happy with these. Most salons, including this one, charge around $35 for a single so that you will buy a package. I typically buy a package big enough to keep the price in the $15 - $20 range. This salon has the most confusing pricing. Instead of selling them as 5 tans for X, 10 tans for Y, etc., they make you buy credits. You then use your "credits" to buy a spray tan. The more credits you buy, the cheaper they get. If you buy one package of credits, you get a discount on a second one. I seriously had to break out the calculator and do some intense math to figure out how much a tan would cost. I was hesitant to purchase a very big package because at any minute they could change how many credits a spray tan costs and you would be stuck. The only other way to pay would be individually for an inflated price, or pay around $80 per month for unlimited. (No thanks.) When I purchased my credits, a Versa spray tan was 6 credits. I started going every few weeks. The nice little touches like baby wipes (a must if you want the best outcome on your hands) and the candies were gone. Oh well, I started bringing my own wipes. Early June I went for my tan and asked how many credits I had left, they said 6, which is one tan. Last week I went in to use my last tan. I was planning on buying another package of credits because they were running a special where you saved a little more on your second bundle of credits. The person working said I needed 4 more credits. I told her I had just checked less than 2 weeks ago and I should have 6. She said the owners had done the math wrong and the tans were too cheap so they are now 10 credits instead of 6. So they are basically almost doubling the price and I can either lose my credits or buy 4 more. I paid the $13 for the 4 credits, but they lost a customer. I imagine they will continue to lose more. This place has been Westside Tan since March, and they haven't bothered to create a Yelp page because all of the unhappy customers have been writing their reviews on their other location's page. I'm so glad my package of credits was almost done so that I wasn't swindled out of more! There isn't a lot of competition up here, but I will drive down to the valley just to keep from giving this place another dime! read more

WOW! Is all I can say. I have not been this happy with a tanning salon for a very long time. The staff here are SO helpful, especially Madisen, she listened to my questions and gave helpful, informative answers. I tried the Versa spray tanning machine for the first time and it's AMAZING. The tan is bronze, even, and smalls great! I am unfortunately not able to use at home self tanners because they give me a weird smell... gross. And this is the first that does not and only sunless tanner I will use from now on!! They have great package deals that come with coupons for purchases and the beds I've heard are top of the line. I was very surprised when I went in to Luv Tan and found they sold the company! But I was pleased to find that the new owners (Westside Tan) were honoring my previous credits, which I bought in a package to make the sessions cheaper. I only spray tan, so if that's what you are looking for, I would recommend Westside Tan...they are friendly and the new place has a much needed face lift with new equipment. I also recommend getting the lotion spray with the spray tan, lasts longer and it smells great. The only thing I would suggest to the new owners are Kleenex in the room. Had the old company Luv Tan not sold, I doubt I would have remained with them when my credits ran out, I'm so happy to have a "new" place to go. Here's a breakdown of the new and the old: The new Westside Tan: * They have done extensive much needed remodeling. * The spray tan machine is new and really modern, works really well, even has a little heater. The tan seems more even and the color looks natural. * The spray tan rooms are now open, clean and airy, no more dark dungeon! * They have music piped in. * The coolest thing are these sticky pads for your feet so your soles don't get stained. They work very well although they kind of tickle when you peel them off! The old Luv Tan: * They were regularly out of the clear tan spray (only sticky messy cosmetic spray was available). They were also regularly out of both so tanning was not available at all. I was told to call the next day many times, they may have the shipment in by then. * Once I went through the whole process and nothing came out of the nozzles! I had to wipe off the blending cream, get dressed, go to the front, have them check it, and start the process all over again! Very frustrating. * Dark small spray tan room * Often had no blending cream, towel, or hair net in the room. * It never really seemed clean since you really couldn't see anything in there. * The bottom of my feet always got stained, even if you dare try to put blending cream, you would slip all over the place while in the booth. The nice thing I can say about Luv Tan is that the staff were always very friendly and apologetic. read more

I am so happy with the changes that the new owners have made. Before they took over, the salon was falling apart. Things weren't clean and light bulbs were burnt out. No money was being put into repairs. The new owners came in and yes, raised prices but that was needed for the business to update the place. And they have outdone themselves with the upgrades. The floors are beautiful and the new beds are amazing. Most importantly they always have working bulbs! The owners are always so nice and greet everyone with a smile. I highly recommend this place and if you tan all the time like I do then you can't go wrong with the unlimited package. It's under $100 and you can tan in any bed and spray tan anytime you want.
