Waiting for fireworks to start with my favorite person

This is strictly on the "Fireworks Spectacular" event that was held at the park yesterday (4th of July 2017). This is my first Independence Day in Ontario, so I had no idea where any events were taking place. But I came across this one while Googling things to do in Ontario. I'm glad we came! They offered free parking at the Ontario PD, with free shuttles to and from the park. Parking was super easy, and boarding the school buses was done in an orderly fashion. It was really convenient. We arrived and parked @ 7pm and arrived at the park by 7:15pm. The park is huge, so there was a ton of places to setup lawn chairs and/or blankets. Even though there were a ton of people there, we found a great spot! We planted our butts down, and waited for fireworks. Fireworks started promptly at 9pm, and lasted for about 25 minutes. The show was pretty awesome. I mean, I wasn't really expecting a spectacular show in Ontario, but it was decent. I mean, it was free... and fireworks are fireworks. As soon as it ended, we bee lined back to the buses... we still had to wait about 40 minutes to board. They only had 3 buses shuttling back and forth. And there were a lot of people. No biggie. It was kinda great actually... Ontario PD escorted each bus back to the police station... stopping traffic and everything... kind of felt like the president! :D

Great local, clean & safe park. Plenty of baseball diamonds, tennis courts, play areas, open areas (for soccer & such), & a community pool. The center also houses a community center that offers various classes. It'll smell like poop every now & then but that the price you pay for living near the old Chino dairies.

Ask the Community - Westwind Recreational Park

What time does the basketball court, inside the gym, close for everyday?

    Yes open everyday

How early do the soccer games start on a Sat? I'm planning on throwing a small bbq and want to plan my arrival time so I can save a picnic area. Thanks!

Almost all of us, in one way or another, have surely been stressed as a result of the COVID-19…read morecrisis. To further complicate matters, many things we normally look to, to relieve stress, may not be available currently. Back when days were better, if troubled times came, I'd hit the gym for some intense cardio. Time spent on cardio equipment often doubles as a time of prayer for me... I'd leave the place refreshed and a bit refocused - win-win. But as everybody knows, the gym's not been an option recently. That's where South Bon View Park comes in. Not wanting to give up on fitness entirely, I took up walking. As some consolation, and perhaps a blessing in disguise, I've realized some obvious advantages to this. Granted, the workout's not as intense, but on the other hand, a gym can't compare with time spent amidst plants and trees, or views of the sunset, or of the moon and planets at twilight in the park. I've lived within minutes of this park for over 20 years. I hate to admit that only recently have I really discovered it. A rather average park, yet priceless. With open green areas and pleasant landscaping. A nice place to exercise, picnic, barbecue, watch the sunset, or pray and meditate. May I learn in this experience, to always remember the blessing that a simple neighborhood park represents. To not so easily overlook the beauty that is right in front of me.

This was our first time visiting the park. We came in on a Saturday and paid $10 for our parking…read more Our main purpose for visiting was the splash pad! Anyways, there were plenty of parking spots. We noticed there are multiple point of entry into the park and there are a couple of different parking area that you can park at, depending which entry way you so happen to be at. Most people came here to fish, there were 2 different ponds/lakes that you can fish at, one is significantly larger than the other. They have a playground for kids, splash pads, and even a pool! The pool will be closed for the remaining of the year due to maintenance. The park itself stretches out a good amount, so good for walking around, stroller and wagon friendly. There are also some ducks roaming so with that, there are bird poops kinda everywhere. The park also have restrooms facilities that were kept reasonable clean for public facilities. The splash pads get a LOT of foot traffic and it can get crowded pretty fast on a hot day. There are plenty of benches and tables for picnic and so many shaded grass area too, for those who'd like to opt to sit on the ground instead. Overall, it's a unique park located just around the Ontario Airport.
