NOT SAFE FOR TODDLERS During the tour in May of 2023, everything seemed calm and put together. I witness the toddlers quietly enjoying a snack and they all seemed fairly happy. During the registration process, the director was very slow to respond. A week before our son's first day, I still didn't know who his teachers would be, what he should bring to school (lunch, snacks, bedding, lovey), or which classroom he would be in. This was all very unsettling. When I walked in on his second day, it was complete chaos in the front area. Pre-k children were running all over the place playing while the toddlers (some as young as just 15 mo) were mixed in with Pre-K and looked completely scared. Come to find out that it is illegal to mix those groups together or at the very least, you need a special license. By the third day, I still wasn't told who my son's teachers were so I opted to pick him up early. I was horrified to see that a pre-k teacher (who didn't know my son or my son's name) had given him a twizzler as a snack and was sitting in front of a tv screen watching Finding Nemo. My son was only 17 mo old at the time. Candy is considered a choking hazard and we don't allow screens for him at all. No one asked our permission for him to watch the movie and no one knew of his dietary restrictions because no one had introduced me to his teachers. Not to mention the fact that this goes against all the marketing materials that you're given. The place is a hot mess. The marketing materials that they give you are a complete lie. The turn over for the toddler rooms is higher than average and from what I witness, it's NOT SAFE. The director is extremely disorganized, doesn't know what her teachers do on a day to day basis and provides little to no communication with parents. Needless to say, WE REMOVED OUR SON FROM THEIR CARE AFTER THE THIRD DAY. Of course I reached out to the 1800 number and explained my story. Again, I was given false promises. I was told: -That I could enroll my son at a different location, at the same price as Knoweldge Beginnings, Westwood. That never happend. -I was told that I would be speaking to the district VP about how Knowledge Beginnings was being run. That never happened. Essentially, all promises made to me over the phone by the district manager were never upheld. That pales in comparison to how little Knowledge Beginnings cares for their toddlers and doesn't not offer the care that is described in their marketing materials. I have two children, ages 4.5 and 16mos, who have both attended the Westwood Knowledge Beginnings since they were 3 months old. It has been a great experience for them overall. Our girls have thrived in that environment, much due to the nurturing staff and just the right balance of academic focus and self-directed play. Our eldest child is quite prepared for kindergarten at this point but still has another year before she starts in public school! The staff is quite experienced, many of them having worked at the center for 5+ years and who also bring their own children to the location. Maryellen and Stacey, the Director and Associate Director respectively, are attentive to the needs of the children and their families while continuously guiding the staff toward excellence; recently demonstrated through achieving National accreditation. Some perceived drawbacks to this center might be: the location - Rt 1 can be quite busy and the parking lot is not huge, but the location was quite convenient for us and we've rarely had a problem with parking. Snacks are provided but lunches are not included in the cost of tuition- this suits our picky eaters! And the center has recently partnered with a company called Smart Lunches to provide meals for purchase. We absolutely recommend this center to families seeking a caring place where their children will blossom and grow. read more

Our son went to Westwood Knowledge Beginnings for almost 2 years - from the time he was 10 months old, until he was 2 years and 7 months old. We had a second child, and got a nanny, which is the only reason he stopped attending. Maryellen, Stacey, and the rest of the staff were absolutely wonderful. We transitioned our son here after moving to the area from out of state, and were thrilled with the attention, support, love, and education he received in the infant room. He transitioned into the toddler room at 15 months, and was one of the youngest children in his class. The teachers and Maryellen worked with us for a successful transition. There were bumps with this transition, as there often are for children, and the staff was wonderful with helping to solve any challenges and make my husband and me feel completely comfortable with our son's care. There were so many reasons we selected this center, from the extended hours (we both work full time), to the loving and supportive feeling that Maryellen fosters. We cannot recommend this daycare more, and are so sorry that we are moving on. read more

These people are WONDERFUL! Starting at 3 months old, both our daughter and son went to KB and we had the best experience possible! There is nothing more nerve racking as a parent than leaving your infant with a stranger. Well, after a little while, those strangers start to feel like family. Everyone at KB has a smile on their face, a positive attitude and most importantly, care about the children! They experience little to no turnover so our second time around with our son, we were dealing with all of the same teachers. Sadly we had to leave KB this fall as we had a 3rd child (not the sad part) and hired a nanny. Our kids still ask us at least once a week if they can go back and visit their teachers! We highly recommend KB - look no farther, go check them out and you too will have a great experience! read more

My daughters were at pre-k for 2 years before going into Kindergarten this year. They loved this place and it is very well managed by the director, Maryellen and assistant director, Stacey. As a parent, I feel that I am always informed if anything happens school, from notifications on teachers transitioning, to excessive kids being sick or fun events they have organized for the families. This place doesn't leave you as a parent in the dark. I been to 2 previous daycares and this is my #1 and they will always have a special place in my heart. The girls still talk about the school and wants to visit from time to time to say hi to their teachers. It was hard for all of us to move onto Kindergarten, but I'm so happy that they will always be a part of their childhood memories! We visited the infant classes at this center and we did not like it. The infants were sad looking and the teachers looked tired and not engaged with the babies. Also the environment didn't look organized and clean. read more

Our son has been going to Knowledge Beginnings since he was 10 months old and it has been a wonderful experience for him and us. He has had caring teachers since he started there and we always felt comfortable dropping him off. I was sad when it was time for him to go to daycare but it felt right from the time we stepped foot in the building. Plus, our son was always smiling when we picked him up! The place is always clean and decorated too. Stacey and Maryellen decorate the daycare and I think it is a nice touch. His transitions from one class to another have always been well planned and communicated. Maryellen and Stacey are always willing to take the time to answer questions or address concerns. The teachers are also very approachable and even though some people might think it is silly, we are happy to have had, since he was an infant, a teacher/parents conference. These conferences helped us understand better what our son was learning or needed to improve. We felt it was important to be involved because his education did not stop when we picked him up. The curriculums have been good as well and we like all the activities he gets to do every day. This past summer, the program was amazing! He had a wonderful summer and learned a lot. And I think the variety of activities really got him to open his mind to new things... Things he may not have wanted to do with us. Our son has one more year there... Sadly. We have enjoyed seeing him grow, learn, make new friends, being exposed to great activities and being taught by great teachers. We are very grateful for the past 4 years at KB and would recommend anyone to stop, meet Maryellen and Stacey and talk about their child/children possible enrollment and learn about what their children could experience.
