Whale splash
Brian D.

Forgot to checkin. I got to say that we had a great experience. This was in early December before the prime seasons for whales. Our boat captain did a fantastic job of navigating the waters around the rock formations avoid hazards and other tour boats. We got to see the Arch and other sights then off into the ocean to see whales Our captain and tour guide quickly found a pair of humpback whales just having a grand time of slapping the water with their giant fins and a periodic breaching causing a big splash. We did experience simultaneous leaps. We did go off and find another pair, but those 2 were less entertaining. Kudos to our guide as she shared many facts of the whales based on her extensive experiences in other parts of the globe. Great photo opportunities and a fun time seeing whales, pelicans, sea lions and more . One word of caution... When you are on the docks, be prepared to say no a lot. There are a ton of vendors trying to sell you something every step of the way. This is not a knock of Whale Watch Cabo. This is just the nature of being in Cabo.

Very professional outfit! We handled everything online before we came to Cabo and it all went smooth as silk. Check in was a breeze, our guide gave us a brief tutorial on the whales, and we were off. The trip itself was comfortable and we got to see a ton of whale activity, some super close as they literally dove under our boat!

Great tour! We went on the last day of the season and the staff were able to find an escort humpback whale, momma and two babies. We followed them for a great viewing. Our marine biologist guide gave us great information on the lives of these amazing animals. We ran into a pod of bottlenose dolphin and learned more about them as well. The Captain and Marine Biologist/tour guide were the best! I highly recommend this tour!

Fabulous whale watching excursion. Pablo and his crew were amazing. How knowledge and expansion of the whales really made it interesting and fun.

This was excellent. Glad I looked whale Watch Cabo up on Trip Advisor and ubered over from our resort. Our guide was knowledgeable and our captain got us just close enough to the whales without being exploitive. We saw at least 30 whales in March in the morning. It way exceeded expectations.

You'll find the office in the middle of Plaza Bonita, down from Starbucks, and next to the Puerto Paraíso mall.

This is one of the best things I did in Cabo. I'm not a party person and I like to know about the nature and history of the areas where I vacation. It's amazing to me that just outside of the marina there are humpback whales breaching and breathing and frolicking while all manner of tourists who want to get drunk are whooping it up at bars just miles away. The office of Whale Watch Cabo is easy to find in a small strip mall near the marina with (expensive) souvenirs and a ubiquitous pharmacy or two. You can book online or walk in, although if you're on a tight timeline I suggest scheduling in advance. If I remember correctly there is a small discount for paying cash. You receive a wristband and gather in a group that walks a short distance to the pier to embark the panga. I would highly recommend using the bathroom before you get on the boat. Although there is a tiny, tiny cubbyhole with what is probably a composting toilet, nobody used it (or wanted to!). We met our guide, photographer, and captain, donned our PFDs (which must be worn by law), and set off through the harbor to find some whales. We were extremely lucky to find a humpback calf playfully breaching over and over again as its mom and a companion followed closely behind. Our captain and guide stayed a good distance back to give the whales space and explained that our boat and other boats had to position themselves behind the whales in a sort of semicircle so that the whales always had a clear path and wouldn't get too stressed by being surrounded. I felt Whale Watch did this better than other boats I saw that got too close or too far ahead of the whales in the name of getting a better view. We learned about humpbacks and the Sea of Cortez between sightings. No question went unanswered and our guide was knowledgeable and passionate about whales and the area. We also heard the photographer speak - she took photos to catalog the whales we saw in order to track them for research purposes. The most exciting thing that happened was that we were tracking two huge humpbacks and lost them for a bit - then they resurfaced just 15' to the port side of our boat! I'm not sure how long we were out but it felt like a good amount of time. When we couldn't find anymore whales to watch, we headed over to El Arco and took some photos there. Then we headed back to the marina. Final thoughts: I didn't know what to expect, and what I didn't realize is that there is tons of boat traffic in this area, from gigantic cruise ships to small water taxis. You will always see boats, no matter where you are - and if there is only one set of whales or a single whale in the area, there will be 3-6 boats all in one place, following the whale(s). So don't expect to feel like you're on a whale safari with no one else around. What's also crazy is that the whales are breaching against the backdrop of Cabo's skyline, so your photos will have houses and condos and malls and businesses in the background unless you're pointed away from land. I thought the captain did a fairly good job of maneuvering the boat and there wasn't much chop that day, but there were times that I wondered why he didn't turn into the swells which caused our boat to bob sideways at times - but overall it was okay. It got rough at times, so if you're at all inclined to sea sickness, take something for it beforehand. I don't know why EVERY whale watching boat doesn't have seats that face OUT. We all sat facing each other and had to turn and twist to look behind us to see the whales. A design flaw for sure, but that's just how standard pangas are made. Despite all that, we were able to take some nice photos on our phones (I also recommend a waterproof case and a strap for your phone so you don't lose it when the boat hits a swell) - but the best part was the photos that were sent to our email a day or two later. Whale Watch Baja prides themselves on giving you the photos from your trip at no charge - so we really didn't even have to take pictures ourselves. I'd do this tour again. In fact, sometimes I wish I was 20 again so I could work on a ship and spend all my time out on the water.

Awesome experience! We booked the zodiak which is the absolute best way to see the whales. 8:00 am tour only three of us on the boat plus the captain and our guide maria. Huge bonus, maria is a marine biologist from Spain and an expert on whale behavior and just a joy to be around. Brains and beauty. Maria found a pair of humpbacks and were able to stay with them for 90 minutes with them surfacing 4-5 times. Perfect experience and a well deserved 5 stars!

One of the best experiences of my life. Huge thanks to our guide Oscar, who was just terrific. Very informative, while also being quick to point out what to look at. We had a treat, as the Humpbacks were on fine form. Love was in the air, as we first saw a pair of copulating turtles. Then we went to a mating pod of Humpback Whales, with two males displaying to impress a female. So many breaches in a short period of time. Afterwards we saw dolphins, sea lions and more Humpbacks... all at once. Because they were playing with each other. Just as we were about to head back, we gave the whales some applause and in response four of them breached together. It was sensational.

This is a MUST DO when you visit! Learned so much about marine life & humpback whales. Our guide Lisa was a wealth of information and her passion for them was very evident! Saw a gorgeous humpback next to our boat and then a second with her baby! Cannot wait to go back and do it again! Highlight of my trip to Cabo!

I contacted them to cancel multiple times more than 24 hours in advance of our scheduled tour, but they refused to refund our money. Their refund policy states that I should get back 80%, but it's been months and I haven't received anything. They probably would have had to cancel the tour because of the weather anyway. Don't use this company!

Knowing it's a 20 minute walk from the place where the cruise ship tender drops you off to the place where the tour boats dock, we decided to scout it out the night before. The email from the company instructed us to check in at the Roger's office ("kiosko 2") to ensure we got the correctly-fitting snorkeling gear, so we went looking for the office using a map from the Roger's website and Google maps. We tried inputting the exact address from the email and asking everyone we could find at Puerto Paraiso mall, but when we went to the alleged office location, nothing was there. As a last ditch effort, on the way out of the mall, we paused and asked a random guy at a booth with ads for tours (mind you, nowhere did it say Roger's on it)! This booth was NOT located in the same spot indicated in the map on the Roger's website. However, this guy was somehow able to look up our reservation, and it was legit because he knew my name even though I never said it. He told us to just meet at the dock the next day - not to even worry about going to the "office" (wherever it may be). So that's what I would advise any future travelers to do - just go to Dock D, which isn't hard to find. Ahead of time, I had emailed the company and asked if I could add additional people to our tour and how to pay for them. I received a response indicating we would need to pay 35 per person and they could either send me a PayPal account to put the money in, or we could pay at the dock. When we got on the boat, we inquired about the two extra people and were told to pay 40 dollars. Thankfully I had the email from the company and I disputed this. I was given a roundabout explanation about how the corporate office is somewhere else in Mexico and sometimes there's miscommunication. This felt like an attempt to con more money out of us, but to their credit, they did honor the emailed price. The tour itself was great. We had Jonathan as the guide and Memo as the boat driver. Jonathan had great English skills and was knowledgeable. Our kids got to drive the boat, which had them laughing hysterically. They also dropped a couple members of our party off to snorkel in a designated spot, and the snorkel gear they provided seemed nicer than the cheap stuff we brought. At the end, they offered to drop us off closer to the cruise ship to help us avoid the 20-minute walk, but said it would be a $2 dock fee per person. We did take them up on that, as we had small kids in the party and didn't want them to have to do the walk in the hot sun. They do take pictures during the tour and offer you the chance to buy them at the end. Technically this is mentioned on the website, so it's not surprising. However, I will note that they offered us a discount on the photos at the end if we left them a review - lowering the price from 80 to 50 dollars. So, take that into account when you read other reviews. We declined. I recall when I was researching tour options that some other customers had mentioned their tours being outsourced to other people. There is definitely something odd with the "company." It presents itself on its website like a small business and frequent references are made to "our boat." But when you get to the dock, nothing says "Roger's" - no signage, no uniforms, etc. There's also more than one boat - another party was checking in at the exact same time as we were with the same people. It's almost like they've been bought out by a bigger conglomerate of tour operators. Perhaps this explains the conflicting information in some spots (i.e., the email confirmation saying to check in early at an office but a guy at a random kiosk that doesn't say Roger's on it somehow having our reservation and telling us to just go to the dock). Overall, we enjoyed the tour itself, but the issues with finding the location and being asked to pay different fees than we were quoted were off-putting.

The company Cabo Adventures is a total scam and preys on vulnerable families. I will NEVER use them again for any other activity despite us coming to Cabo every year. I encourage every one from Yelp not to use them as well. Each ticket cost over $200 per person to be part of a group dolphin experience. This is not even private. A child MUST be accompanied by an adult so that forces more people to join. You think after spending over $800 for 4 people they would treat us like royalty right? WRONG. They do not mention any photo pricing online because they don't want to scare you away before you purchase your tickets. But let me tell you, it's an all or nothing photo package (you cannot pick a few or buy per picture) and it was over $500!!!!!! The b*tch working at the photo center must get off on making kids cry because when you call her out on the ridiculous prices, she shuts off the computer, takes her booklet, and says "ok good bye, there's the door". They do not negotiate at all because they know you have no other option. It's truly heartless. How insulting after we just spent $800 just on the tickets for a 30 min SHARED experience. They allow observers who are not doing the dolphin experience but they conveniently put them far away from where the dolphins are so it's impossible for them to take any pictures or video. Note: females you are NOT allowed to have anything in your hair such as hair ties or clips which there is no mention online or even when you check in. They don't give a reason why and it really sucked because the day we went it was super windy and our hair went everywhere ruining a lot of the photos plus making it hard to see in the water with hair in your face. My poor daughter had to take out her cute braids :/ Many other great and reasonable experiences. Go elsewhere and do NOT support Cabo adventures. Shame on you guys. UPDATE: I'd like to respond to the manager Lorena who tries to justify these ridiculous prices instead of listening to her customers' feedbacks and making adjustments. No, it's not optional to get the photos because what's the point of doing this experience if you do not have pictures to keep as memories? Yes, I understand there's safety regulations about not having cameras with us in the pool but forcing bystanders not in the pool to be over 100 ft away to take pictures which will be blurring, you leave us no choice but to purchase the photos. Nobody is asking for free photos but charging $500 is a scam. Even Disneyland only charges $80 for unlimited photos for a whole week! And respect gets respect. After spending over $800, YOUR employee is the one who was disrespectful to me first with her attitude about the price and not even trying to talk to your supervisor or work something out with me. Clearly, you only care about profit, not about customers leaving happy or having a good experience.

A total of 4 of us booked a reservation through Amstar at Cactus Tours for the side by side UTVs (2 vehicles of 2 drivers and 2 passengers). Amount paid in full to Amstar a month in advance excluding the $25USD cash entry fee per person which we paid day-of. Also on day-of, we were offered upgrade options. The only option we proceeded with was to upgrade each vehicle 1 horsepower level up which was listed as $85 USD per vehicle for a total of $170 USD.  This was also explained to us that upgrading to that vehicle power meant insurance was included so no need for additional insurance purchase or security hold on the card. We declined ALL other upgrade options.  No private tour, no higher vehicle power upgrade beyond the 1 level up, NOTHING else. We provided a credit card and the staff member took the card for the transaction.  Again, the staff member insisted on upgrading to a private tour but we declined (which we later realized was because they didn't have any other parties booked at our time so it inevitably became a private tour anyway, they just hoped to get more $$ for it). He ran the card and handed us the receipt while rushing to direct us away to the locker area. Later upon arrival back to our hotels, we finally had a moment to review the receipt for the upgrade charges and saw it was actually charged $7,200 MXN (about $400 USD) with no itemization.  This isn't inclusive of any transaction or currency conversion fees, that is the amount directly on the receipt. This is DRASTICALLY way more than the upgrades we agreed to with no explanation or breakdown. Despite saying otherwise in other review replies, their website is not transparent in charges as the "upgrade" sheets they have in the lobby show charges differently than the website displays. The charge in MXN should have been roughly $3,060. I was overcharged $4,140 MXN, more than double what the true upgrade charge should have been alone. I went back and forth for days with Cactus Tours via calls and emails until after a week they finally stopped answering me completely. I'm in the process of filing a fraudulent chargeback with my credit card company since Cactus Tours chose to ignore my attempts for an amicable refund of the difference. Be VERY aware of all charges and do NOT let them rush you day-of at check-in without doublechecking everything if you still choose to do any activity at Cactus Tours. The tour guides will now also insist it is customary to tip $50 per vehicle at the end of the tour. This tip pressure did not exist in 2022. An additional $50 tip on top of the $25 per person entrance fee, any upgrade charges, plus initial reservation fees is wild.

The boat is okay and the food smelled good, but you will be standing for two hours or seating cramped with close to 200 strangers with only about 150 seats, half of which are benches with no backs. If the operators weren't so money hungry and full of spiteful greed, the tour might have been nice. Say they sold the ship to the true seated capacity. The horrible captain made an announcement asking people to scoot over. Families with kids or the elderly (the majority of families) were not interested in moving. I wasted too many precious vacations hours on this tour. I wasted too many precious dollars on this waste. If negative stars were ever an option this would be it. This tour is horrible, horrifying, horrific, abominable, awful, terrible, tragic, and all other adjectives that express regret and anger. This tour will lend to the ruination of your vacation day. Avoid it like the plague. Avoid it at all costs. I rarely write such negative reviews but today is that day. I wish I would have trusted my intuition and gotten off. Should have just jumped overboard. Sugar Honey Iced Tea show writ large. Negative stars and damn sure would never ever ever recommend!

This was such a FUN and delicious food tour in Cabo San Lucas!…read more We loved Miguel, our guide. He was entertaining and educational, and kept us moving at a decent pace. He was clearly passionate about Cabo San Lucas, about the history, the restaurants he introduced us to, and the food. There were 11 of us total on the tour, which was a good number. The tour lasted almost three hours total: 2-2.5 hours of the food tour and a little over 30 minutes of the tequila tasting. We made about 6 (7?) total stops, all of which were close to one another so there is walking but honestly not a lot of walking. Still: wear comfortable shoes, as there is some standing. We ate lots of different types of tacos, chilaquiles, burritos, ceviche, ice cream and churros. Come hungry! I loved almost every single thing we ate, and also really loved learning more about the history behind the dishes, how locals eat them vs. how we've Americanized some dishes in the US, and just hanging out in the more local part of town. At the end, there was an optional tequila tasting, which most of us did. I definitely recommend Juan More Tacos for food tours. They have great guides and you get to stop at restaurants that the locals dine in -- not the touristy hot spots. And it's priced well -- such a great value for the amazing experience!

We had a wonderful time on the "Cabo San Lucas Downtown Food and Tacos Tasting Experience", which…read morewe booked with this company through Viator. Our tour guide was Juan, who was both professional and super kind & friendly as he led us through the walking tour. We learned about some of the history of Cabo San Lucas and why there is a diversity of food from different regions of Mexico in this tourist-focused town. Most of the shops that we stopped by were in the less-touristy side, away from the Marina, so it was definitely helpful to have Juan's recommendations and local knowledge. Over the course of the tour, we tried: 1) Chips & salsa, followed by sopes with chicken / beef / chorizo options, at Mercabo Gourmet Street Food (the starting & ending point of the food tour) 2) Taco de rajas con queso y crema (creamy roasted peppers) and cabeza (beef head), plus horchata and super-refreshing agua de jamaica (hibiscus tea), at Los Taco May. We were able to pick any taco from the menu that we wanted to try. 3) Birria taco on freshly-handmade tortillas at Taqueria Morelos 4) Stewed marlin and fried sea bass tacos, plus more hibiscus tea and horchata, at Los Claros. We also had several different options here for which taco we wanted to try. 5) Strawberry and soursop sorbet at La Michoacana - this place had so many different flavors of dairy ice creams, non-dairy sorbets, and popsicles. I had a hard time choosing which one I wanted; Juan recommended the strawberry and soursop sorbets, both of which were so refreshing and delicious in the warm November weather and after all of the savory foods that we'd had. 6) Al pastor and shrimp tacos at El Paisa (the most tourist-y spot that we went to; still good though) 7) Churros with chocolate and condensed milk, back at Mercabo Gourmet Street Food - so yummy! 8) Tequila tasting to end the tour, with no obligation to buy (we sampled a few that sounded interesting but did not buy any) Overall I'd highly recommend doing this tour if you have ~3 hours to spare on your trip to Cabo. Come hungry - I was stuffed full by the end of the tacos portion (but of course still had room for the desserts). Shoutout to our amazing tour guide Juan!
