Of course, I couldn't resist trying some myself! I loved the black truffle popcorn- garlic, black pepper, onion and black truffle yumminess pairs nicely with a glass of wine. I'm sure my wine-loving friends will also enjoy this particular flavor. I also tried the salted caramel popcorn. Salty and sweet at the same time, super tasty. I couldn't stop from digging in for more! I ordered 10 bags, many flavors I didn't try - yet. Yet. I met the owner of this popcorn shop on December 10, 2019 at the Brewed Awakening Yelp Elite event. It was held at Buffalo Riverworks. One of the few flavors the owner had left--I didn't see his table until the end of the night--was the Sweet Coffee. It was quite good. I saw on Facebook recently that his business was vandalized. I wanted to support him and his employees so I decided to stop by this past Friday. I have an all or nothing attitude so when I really like something, I get excited and buy everything. That's basically what happened on Friday. The shop is really cute on the inside. They have fun decor. I was greeted with a friendly smile when I came in and the cashier/employee was cool. He was quick to answer any questions I had about certain varieties. They have many great kinds of popcorn for sale. The front of the bag has their logo, the name of the flavor, and a clear plastic part where you can see what the popcorn looks like. On the bag of the paper bag, it lists their address, phone number, email, and their website address. There is also an awesome quote on the back of the bag. (The joy of the journey is best measured by the friends not the miles.) I bought the Bloody Mary popcorn and the Health Freak popcorn for my best friend for her birthday. I didn't buy any of those for myself so I'm not sure how they taste. The Bloody Mary popcorn came with a small jar of Tabasco sauce. The Health Freak, per their website, is popped in avocado oil and Himalayan pink sea salt. I lost touch with my oldest friend over the last couple years. We've both been busy. I thought of getting her and her kids some popcorn as something fun. Every kind I bought for her, I bought myself as well. My favorite kind out of all of them that I bought is the Black Truffle. It tastes JUST like black truffle oil. It's salty and awesomely amazing. I can't wait to buy another bag soon. A close second for me is the loganberry flavor. It's flavorful and wonderful. It tastes like loganberry but in my opinion, it also tastes a bit like cotton candy. The loganberry is my friend's favorite flavor. My third favorite flavor is the S'Mores flavor. It's so great!! It is popcorn with Lucky Charms' marshmallows, mini chocolate chips, and Graham cracker pieces added in. It's quite delightful and oh so good!!! I ate the whole bag in one sitting. Queen City Mix is their own take on Chicago style popcorn. Chicago style popcorn is caramel and cheddar cheese popcorn mixed together. What's Pop-In's Queen City Mix is cheddar cheese popcorn and kettle corn. I really enjoyed it. The peanut butter cup flavor was really good. I had some in the morning with coffee. I enjoyed it. My Lil Lady is really good. It tastes like birthday cake. The White Chocolate Raspberry is okay. It has raspberry dust. The big chunks of dried raspberry are a bit much. They were too surprising and sugary for my friend. She really enjoyed that flavor though. It has small white chocolate chips in it. The popcorn in it is good. The pizza flavor is good but not as flavorful as I would like. The Buff Wing is spicy and makes my nose itch. It's not one of my favorites. The Mexican Street Corn and the jalapeño (like jalapeño poppers) flavors were my least favorite. They tasted like pepper and made me sneeze a lot. I went a little crazy and spent $148.72. I honestly don't regret it. I'm happy to support a local business that has such a great product. If I go in again, instead of ordering online, I want to try some new (to me) flavors like (SNV) salt and vinegar. I'm not sure if they had any other flavors besides that one that I didn't try yet but I'm definitely going to check it out soon. I implore you to support this local business. I've loved their popcorn from the first moment I had it. I've loved seeing them get orders from around the country. And recently I was given some for Christmas. I haven't had any since before Covid. We were given the Buffalo Wing and Salted Caramel - these may be their best sellers locally. The Buffalo Wing is savory and has some kick. It would go well with a beer. I first stumbled upon What's Pop-in at a Yelp event, and have been in LOVE with their creative flavors of popcorn ever since. Salt n Vinegar is one of my favorites, but every flavor is so good and addicting! Although I've never been in their shop, we ordered delivery a few times (which was extremely helpful during the pandemic!), and we frequently buy their popcorn from Buffalo Food Artisans Traders. My husband surprised me with a "Willy Wonka" themed dinner at this business. I didn't know what to expect. What does popcorn and fine dinning have in common. The owner of the business when introducing himself asked the same question. He answered " nothing at all". This night BLEW by any expectations I had. Every course was paired perfectly with wine, and the atmosphere felt like you walked into the movie, even the soundtrack from the classic 1971 movie was playing. The chef incorporated gourmet popcorn into each dish and added influences from the movie giving it homage. From edible paper to deconstructed blueberry pie, you felt the essence of the movie. Mmm. When I heard that this place had been vandalized, I recruited my roommate to go in on an order with me to show some support. I had never tried their popcorn and I'm not even a huge popcorn fan. It's something I enjoy occasionally. Orders of 5 bags or more are eligible for free, local delivery. It was supposed to be within 5 days but due to the way Buffalonians rally to support, the business received a huge amount of orders and my delivery arrived today--just in time for lunch. I ordered a sweet and a savory option. And although the business boasts some creative flavors, I stuck to the classics with Salted Caramel and White Cheddar. I tasted a few pieces of the Salted Caramel and liked it very much. It's not "caramel corn" like crackerjacks, which I loved as a kid but is too sweet for me now. It's a mild caramel flavor, like a grown-up, more refined salted caramel corn. I switched to the white cheddar and wow! When it comes to sweet VS savory, I'm usually on team savory and this was no exception. I ate half the bag for lunch. I ate the rest of the bag later while preparing dinner. I had accidently ordered an extra bag of the white cheddar when I placed my order and that turned out to be a very good thing. I will definitely get this again and I look forward to trying some other flavors. This is a really cute spot for popcorn lovers and it's definitely not your average popcorn. It's located on Ferry right down the street from La Nova. When you walk in it smells wonderful, like you're ready for a movie marathon. On the right hand side you have your classics and on the left hand side you have your specialty popcorn. Classics are only $5 and specialty are $6.50. They are nice size bags and very convenient. When you open them they have a resealable ziploc style top which I thought was really cool. Dave was very nice in helping us pick out flavors and telling us about the store. Between my friend and I we bought 8 bags of popcorn, all different flavors. We ended up trying each of them and they were all really good. So far my favorite is pickle and spicy chili (a brand new flavor). This is definitely a cool spot to check out. As of now they are open Friday and Saturday 11-7. Throughout the week they do free delivery for online orders. I've heard quite the buzz about the little popcorn shop and decided to buy some for my boyfriend (and for me to sample, too, of course). I ordered online and the process was really simple. Note that they're only open in-store on Fridays and Saturdays for right now. I picked it up last Friday and the employee working was very kind and helpful! I chose Salt and Vinegar, Jalapeño Popper, and Buffalo Wing. They were all so delicious! But, based on several friend's rave reviews, I did recently order from What's Pop-In for delivery to my brother on his birthday. On their website, What's Pop-In has about 20 different flavors of popcorn to choose from. I picked a Buffalo'esque assortment for my bro: Beef on Weck, Chicken Wings, Loganberry, Lemonade and Birthday Cake. If you order five bags, What's Pop-In does free delivery in the Buffalo and 'burbs area. So that was a pretty good deal to give these locally loved guys a try. I ordered five days ahead, which should have got the popcorn to my bro by his birthday. I did clarify with What's Pop-In in a FB chat that delivery would be possible by then, and they confirmed. But unfortunately my bro's drop-off was missed because their deliveries ran late. So he did not get his surprise treat in time. It was pretty funny making him walk all over outside to look around for something that wasn't there though, hahaha. :-D When I chatted to ask when we could expect delivery, What's Pop-In was very apologetic and said the popcorn would be delivered the next day, along with a $20 gift card. So that was a very nice gesture. The next day, the popcorn did arrive around 7pm, but no gift card. I wrote to thank them for the delivery, but there was no gift card, and said it wasn't a huge deal. They insisted on still sending the gift card, which they emailed $25 the next day. I was going to give 4-stars because of the bumps in delivery, but my brother texted me that the Birthday Cake pop corn was excellent. So since he's happy, I'm happy. I forwarded my brother the gift card, so he could pick more flavors to try. One of these days I will actually try some of this highly lauded popcorn myself; perhaps I'll just go raid my bro's What's Pop-In stash. :-P If you are flexible with delivery timing, you will likely be 100% happy when What's Pop-In shows up at your doorstep. read more
