I don't understand why people light whataburger. I guess because its new in the area but the fries always taste old and dry. Burger is okay but always somewhat warm. Pretty location but I just don't see the draw unfortunately

It's good to finally have a Whataburger in Overland Park. I'm a fan of their large, tasty, reasonably priced burgers, but they also offer breakfast, salads and chicken sandwiches. My #1 Whataburger meal included a 5" x 2" burger, medium fries and a 32 oz. drink for $7.69. It was brought to my table two minutes after I ordered at the counter, where the service was accommodating and nicely trained. The burger had a perfectly cooked, but thin, beef patty with mustard and fresh veggies (including crisp lettuce) on a fresh bun. I found the fries to be tasty without being too greasy and the spicy ketchup was a nice addition. This location offered a basic dining area inside with two drive thru lanes outside. The app offers good discounts. Overall, A-OK for the price.

Welcome to Overland Park, Whataburger! After driving by and seeing LONG lines for several days, I stopped in for a breakfast visit and was pleasantly surprised with the short wait time inside and outside of the store. I opted for the #25 (Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit) Whata-meal with hash browns and coffee. Coffee was freshly brewed when I arrived, and has self-serve capabilities for refills. Biscuit was a little crumbly, but hash browns were crisp and delicious! Can't recommend the spicy ketchup enough - just enough spice to add some solid flavor. Looking forward to coming back to have lunch/dinner. If you're a first timer, be sure to download the mobile app to collect rewards (every 5 visits + free Whataburger when you sign up).

Stuck in the drive through on a late Saturday night

Nope. Just don't do it! I wish I can give this place negative stars. Service is like molasses. The reviews are correct. If you really want to eat here you're better off getting off the car and go inside to order. The drive thru is the worst thing. On Saturday night we got stuck behind someone for 20 minutes before going in reverse and leaving. They have been open for a while you would have thought they would figured it out by now. The service is not the best. Efficiency is not something they know how to be. By the time you end up getting your food it's cold. Maybe I'll try this place again in 6 months since it's the only thing open late at night.

It's a good place to grab a burger or chicken sandwich meal. They have good ketchup selections if you like things spicy.

After a few minutes waiting and we got 3/4 of our drinks but ignored when I kept waiving to get the 4th as they were making the car behind me's drinks. Waited about 15 minutes at the window to get our food. When the food was finally received a burger I stated to be plain wasn't plain on the receipt either. They corrected it no questions but still took another 7-8 minutes for a plain burger.

Bottom Line: Good food, troubled service, and clean venue. It's definitely not the best Whataburger I've had but it reminded me of the ones I've had back down in Texas. It was though, one of the worst service I've had at a Whataburger. Will probably come back when I get some hunger-pain for Whataburger but probably won't go out of my way to come here for some work-night "fast" food. Venue: The restaurant was relatively clean and there were a lot of workers going around ensuring things were wiped down and condiments were being handed out. However, the back kitchen seemed to be struggling with getting the food out and getting people's orders right. There were a lot of people inside waiting for their food or sending it back to correct the order. I had a relatively small mishap with my order but it was quickly rectified. I'm just glad I was inside and was able to double check the order. Service: although everybody was busy they were really nice and accommodating. Honestly, they take a lot of grievances and gripes with a lot of patience and grace. Some of the customers that were upset about their orders were borderline out-of-line and the service staff did a very good job of de-escalation (hence why three stars vice two). Food: the burger and shakes tasted like what I remembered back home but it wasn't the best I've had. The burger came out a bit lukewarm and the cheese tasted a little frozen. Fries were good and I once again appreciated their "spicy" ketchup condiment. Overall: I will come back but only when I get the Whataburger craving or if I'm feeling a bit homesick. Service needs a bit of work, the food was okay, and the staff were very courteous and patient. If you are curious... and have some time, give this place a shot.

Wow - I had high hopes with all the Mahomes hype on Whataburger, but this place is a total cluster. The drive thru layout is awful, it blocks the back row of cars for the in restaurant customers so don't park back there! The drive thru menu board speaker is on the far right of the menu board meaning you now have to look back over your shoulder since they can't hear with all the car noise from 135th and the drive thru. They ask for names at the drive thru and then can't figure out who is who (I've been asked 8 times by 3 different people what the name on the drive thru order was). I think I'm going to start giving a car description instead for my name. My wife raves about the avocado burger, personally my food is always just ok. The patty melt styled sandwiches aren't coming out with toasted buns :-( Pro Tip - park in the first row and GO INSIDE. It's faster and saves your sanity! UPDATE - had to go inside again to get the order fixed. The place is run by zombies - the exact opposite of what you find at Chick-fil-A or Culver's. No one is there to help the customer. Save the frustration and go somewhere else.

After ordering and eating our food here, the employee who served our food was in the bathroom while I was in their and told me she was sick and the manager wouldn't let her go home. She was standing in the bathroom stall grunting and saying she felt like she was gonna throw up. I was so grossed out because she was the employee making shakes and serving food. Not cool to let employees work while sick especially if they are throwing up, then also not good for employee to be telling people that.

It wasn't just how we like it because they messed up my husbands burger.

We waited an hour and a half in the drive-thru line for a Sonic burger and McDonalds French fries. *shrug* Despite the signs plastered everywhere saying to try the Dr. Pepper shake, the machine was down, so there went that idea. *sigh* There was one young lady taking orders who was overwhelmed. The young man taking payment and delivering orders to the cars was very pleasant. Our food was lukewarm. The fries were not fresh and they messed up my husbands order. We tried it and we are cool on them. Maybe we will be back in a year when the hype has died down and the kinks are worked out. Maybe. There are far better burger places and it's simply not worth the hype or the long wait. Save your money and make your own burger and sides. You'll be a lot happier.

Wait time, located at the bottom
    Sam J.

The door was pretty good (a little greasy but what else can you expect from fast food?) However, the long wait wasn't worth it. We decided to go late at night on a Tuesday thinking that it couldn't be that long of a wait considering the time we're showing up. Boy, were we wrong. The line was long but I've been in longer lines, I estimated about a 20-30 minute wait tops. Nope, we sat there for over an hour. I've worked in fast food at all hours and I know that it doesn't take that long to serve people unless the employees truly don't give a darn about making everyone wait. And I completely understand being understaffed. It still doesn't explain why it took that long to serve 10 cars. *Adding location history w/ time stamps for proof*

    Brian S.

Absolutely unprepared. Shake machine down. 1 person taking orders. 30 minute wait for a burger inside 90 minutes in the drive thru They need to learn from in&out Definitely not worth the wait

We also went with the ONION RING TOWER which consists of onion rings served with ranch or Cajun horseradish dipping sauce. The Cajun is the way to go. Next we the wings, which have a wide variety of sauce options, we went with, MANGO HABANERO which is a very Tangy-sweet with a habanero heat, and the HELL'S FURY which is enough ghost peppers to blow your top. Flaming hot to say the least and not for the faint of heart. I selected the JALAPEÑO CREAM CHEESE Burger, which is a prime Wagyu beef patty topped with jalapeño cream cheese spread, peppered bacon, and pepper jack cheese on a brioche bun. It was moist cooked just right with a light sear. Perfection. My wife opted for the SICKIES BURGER which is a burger topped with Peppered bacon, fried egg, pulled pork, BBQ sauce, and American cheese, topped with onion rings and a splash of hot sauce. We conclude with one of their shakes, and they have several options to choose from, Banana, Butterscotch, Chocolate, Coffee, Oreo®, Raspberry, Strawberry, and Vanilla. I went with the Raspberry and my wife sent with the Oreo. Both were very filling. The staff is very accommodating and attentive that matched with a 1950s dinner vibe, it is a relaxing welcoming environment and this both enjoyable and comfortable. If you are thur the area you are sure to come away full. Highly recommend this place, it will not disappoint.

Took family there for my grandson's birthday. Loved the theme…read more Started off with happy hour appetizers......tater kegs and two orders of fried pickles, our kids favorite. Tater kegs were good, taste and size-wise. But we wound up hardly eating much of the fried pickles. They were drowned in salt, so much so even the ranch couldn't compensate or cover it up. My wife got the unlimited wings. She tried three different flavor of wings, all very salty to the taste. Sweet Chili, the Popping Pineapple and the Teriyaki. And the teriyaki really didn't taste like teriyaki at all. My daughter had the veggie burger, and she said it was very salty. I ordered the deviled eggs and the jalapeno creamed corn. The deviled eggs were good; filling was a little runnier than I usually like in a deviled egg. The jalapeno creamed corn had some good spice, but another dish that had entirely too much salt in it. When my wife and first got there to get the table for our party, the host asked if we had the app. We did not, he instructed us how to download it, and told us we'd be getting an email for a free burger. He also told us about the 20% off "Vintage" discount for seniors, of which I am one. At the end of our meal, the server (who was really cool, by the way) gave us our bill, which totalled with tax $165 plus some change. I told him I was a senior and wanted the vintage discount. He brought in iPad over, entered a couple things and brought us a new bill. I glanced at it and it said $163 and some change. So I walked after him and asked him if I paid up front and that's where they gave the discount. He said no you pay me and I did give you the discount. Sure enough, on the receipt, it was saying vintage discount......$2.60. Now I use math in my head every day for work as an air traffic controller, so it didn't take me long to figure out $2.60 is WAY BELOW 20% off of $165. I was looking for some fine print somewhere that might explain this particular math conundrum. Couldn't find anything. I was going to find our server or a manager, but the family was ready to go, and since it was a birthday my wife didn't want me to make an issue of it, so we left. Not happy with the liberal usage of salt in everything, and with today's prices, especially not happy with the issue with the discount that was about 18% short. Probably won't be back.

Burger night (Mondays?) is $2 off the specialty burgers, and I recommend that Diablo Burger if you like a little heat. Sliced jalapeños & pineapple atop a 1/2 lb. burger with a sweet heat sauce, this burger will hit just right. Service is friendly and fast and the prices are right on par with the market. You can get in and out with a couple of burgers and a couple of drinks during special time for around $45 and that's a pretty good deal with a better value to boot. We thought, why not try something new. Maybe it will be delicious! And we heard they might have vegan options! (They didn't.) First impression: the place is empty. I point out the sign at the front that says "GET READY TO HAVE SOME UN" and raise my eyebrows and my hungry wife manages a smile. I couldn't wait to find out what having some UN means! I'd like to see you guys eat a salad without a fork by the way. We scanned menu, saw nothing vegan IN THE YEAR 2026 AD and asked about vegan options. We were told there's vegetarian options but we are so hungry at this point why not try it. After all, this is supposed to be the best burger in Overland Park. There's the avocado taco (it has aioli on it tho thats probably not vegan) and they used to have a "portobello taco", but it got taken off the menu, and besides, to make it vegan you apparently have to take off the pesto and the cheese, leaving you with a mushroom and a piece of arrrrrugula on a dry tortilla, because 100% of sauces are animal based. It's Kansas City just put some barbecue sauce on it or something. They have an Impossible Burger, with which we are familiar, but the bun is an "egg bun" and for the vegan burger you get a gluten free cardboard bun, lettuce, tomato, zero condiments, and no salt or pepper, and you'll EAT IT AND LIKE IT. Come on, give me my gluten! I know you have only met 1 vegan in your life but most vegans aren't gluten free! We want just a regular bun is that too much to ask?! In 2026?! Is the UN for unseasoned? Un Bun? Unsatisfying menu? Does the UN allude to when the United Nations sanctioned this burger for war crimes? Look it up, 2018. So we got the Impossible Burger and truffle fries (fries sold separately because this country is going into the toilet) and sat down. Food came out fast enough. Fast AND casual. My wife almost burst into tears when she bit into the burger, not tears of joy either. She recalled a terminally ill patient that she had, in order to feel better about this burger. I said come on, cant be that bad. I took a bite and the complex flavors took me back in time to when I was a little lad, in the elementary school cafeteria line, being bullied by the other kids, being yelled at to hurry up by the wrinkly lunch lady as she slopped a bland half frozen meat puck onto the dishwater wet surface of my plastic lunch tray. Ahhh yes, this un-seasoned un-flavored un-glutened un-burger tasted just like that memory. And what's this! A bonus hair in the truffle fries! Unclean! Unwashed? Or underwear hair? It did taste like truffles... Either way, unbelievable. We choked down the best burger that the culinary Mecca of Overland Park has to offer, like the hungry little piggies we were, and left, unappetized and undignified. Avocado taco was alright though. If i had to rate the "truffle fries", I would be forced to go with the Unrated Edition, on account of the "seasoned curlies" I found in there. Now, in post-burger clarity, one can only wonder: if you asked the staff at Unforked for a fork, would they fork it over or do they just not give a fork?
