We went there at 4:00pm on a Thursday and waited 42 minutes to get our order. We watched multiple people around us who arrived after us get their food. There were a few other people that also waited as long as us so obviously a glitch. However the Manager took my receipt and said he would refund my meal, which I think that is the least they could do - but he didn't follow through. Now I will have to probably spend another 30-45 minutes trying to get my refund. When you add all the time together - I've wasted 1 hour and 30 minutes at a fast food restaurant. Restaurant lobby was very dirty. Both the floors and tables were absolutely littered with trash and food. Wait time to order in the lobby was atrocious. Finally decided to try the hype of Whataburger. They were busy. We ordered our food at 3:40pm. Burger Meal, Chicken Sandwich meal and Kids Meal. It took 45 minutes to get our food. We did get a table upon sitting,we realized the entire lobby was full and not 1 table of customers had food. It seemed Drive Thru cars were moving a lot faster then Dine In. Food was hot. Mayo had a funky taste both my daughter and I thought so. I do not like the kiosks only order system. Nor the delivery system. They just randomly walk around the lobby with a tray of food looking for the number marker on tables. They were circling the lobby 2-3 times searching for numbers. Maybe they should call out the number. I get it, short staffed and being busy. Just no customer service. I don't believe we will be back. read more

My husband and I went last week. We ordered $26 worth and ordered through the drive through. We got there at 6:02 and didn't drive away with our food until after 6:40. They kept skipping us and said "we're so sorry the kitchen forgot your order". The manager came out and apologized and offered a full refund and said he would handle it inside. Another manager came out and said here's your food, hang tight, we are getting your refund. After ten minutes, I got out of the car and went in and said can we please leave now that we have our food. They said oh yeah sorry we forgot to tell you it's all handled. Days later I checked the bank account and we were never refunded. Food ok but not that great. Extremely slow drive thru lane. Thought it was nice that you could study the me u before ordering. Heard the car in front of us ordering and heard the complaint that she couldn't hear the ordered so assumed you ordered at the first window. Until we got to the first window, full of buns. Got to second window and informed girl that Noone offered to take our order at the menu board. Our first time there, appeared that order would be taken at first window. Most fast food places have an obvious speaker. Line moved extremely slowly. Have been at other places that were extremely busy while short of workers but line still moved efficiently. Today I was able to finally try this place. The line wasn't that long when I got here and I understand now why the line so long the food I had was very tasty the hamburgers the right amount of grease the fries properly with a small amount of salt packets of ketchup I have just enough tang to make it enjoyable. I have been to many Whataburgers in Texas and Oklahoma and we have enjoyed the entire experience. I recently went to the new Whataburger in Overland Park and my experience with this location was the opposite. I know it has only been open for a month or two but that should be ample time for a restaurant to get up and running. I pulled in to the drive through about 9:00 am and sat 10 minutes and the line of 9 cars did not move. Thank goodness no one was behind me so I pulled out of line and parked. My goal was to get three Whataburger's to go. I walked in and was greeted by someone. I ordered three Whataburger's. There was a delay as the cashier was struggling with the register. She finally gave up and had someone come out and help her with the simple 3 Whataburger order. After 25 minutes someone came out with my order. Taking 35-40 minutes for fast food is not going to cut it if they do not improve. Whataburger is amazing fast food but not worth the stress of waiting this long. I hope management works hard to get their standards up to other locations like in Texas and Oklahoma. read more

Worst Whataburger on the planet! I've been to many Whataburgers during my travels and honestly couldn't wait for our KC locations to open. Like many of the reviews we waited forever (40 minutes and 30 minutes) to get our food. I waited so long with my family I was able to fill out 3 complaints on the corporate website. To be clear....I was at this location recently after the initial rush had warn off. Super slow and food was cold. Never had Whataburger this bad. I have eaten at Whataburger more times than I can remember when I stationed at Fort Hood, Texas back in the 70s. THIS however, is not the Whataburger I remember. I mean, at best, it's extremely pedestrian - think Hardees or maybe Burger King - but both those offerings are better than Whataburger. Every time we dine in, the tables haven't been wiped down and the trash is always overflowing. It's been open a few months now and it's looks completely run down. Really wish they paid attention to these things so our dining experience would be more enjoyable. The food is decent, not as good as other Whataburger locations. I've gone at so many different times, middle of the night, after dinner, you name it it's going to be slow. 5 cars ahead and it's still about an hour wait total. If you're a party of 3 or more, be prepared to have your party split up. There were maybe 5 tables in the whole establishment that could accommodate more than just 2 people. Kind of odd considering this area is nothing but families. The food was just okay, like other reviews have said. Culver's has them beat, in my opinion. When I was visiting family down in Texas we went to Whataburgers and the food was fantastic. I'm from Las Vegas and was so excited that there was a Whataburger in Overland Park so Yesterday my brother and I went to this location and I was so disappointed. It took forever for us to place our order to eat there and then it took so long to get our lunch The hamburger was okay and the French fries were cold. I was so shocked. I know that it's hard to get people to work but really I'm no fast food worker but I could have done a better job The employee didn't even greet us. All I can say Thank God I can go home and eat my In n Out double double and hot fries and know what a wonderful experience. Maybe someone from Corporate needs to step in and fully retrain this staff. Went inside, stood in line with 5 or 6 people in front of me for 30 minutes to order. Took another 37 minutes to get my food which was just a bacon burger & fry, no drink. Finally got order and it was horrible. Burger was cold, bacon was like jerkey, bun was stale, fries were cold and stiff. I would have took my order back inside, but I wasn't going to spend another hour of my day getting it replaced. I threw the order away. Waited 22 minutes for 2 honey chicken biscuits and hasbrowns at breakfast. The food was hot, the biscuit was just mediocr. It wasn't extremely busy, but seemed very inefficient. They would deliver your food to your table, ask if you wanted ketchup and then go get you the ketchup. Not sure why so many negative reviews. My family and I went last night and opted to eat inside. The drive through line was fairly busy, but not crazy. When we got inside there were just a handful of people in front of us and the line moved very quickly. The gal at the register was very friendly and efficient when getting our order and ringing us up. The guy that brought us our food was very nice as well. I got the bacon cheeseburger combo with onion rings. The burger was amazing. Lots of toppings. Cooked nicely. Sized suitably for the price. Onion rings were perfectly battered...honestly one of the best I have had. That spicy ketchup? Mmmmmm! My husband had been before and had a free Whataburger from the app which he redeemed, along with onion rings as well. He enjoyed his meal too. My daughter wasn't super hungry so she just had a bit of ours but agreed it was good. Not to be missed was the Dr. Pepper shake which we all shared and thought was very nice and not overly Dr. Peppery. Already have my eye on the Buffalo ranch chicken strip sandwich and the breakfast burger for the future. Can't wait to return. It won't be long! Service was non existent. Customer's milling around the kiosk's because they either have cash or difficulty with the kiosk. Only one person "running" food for in store or take out customers, which consists of just yelling out a number. Took 10 minutes to get on a kiosk because folks in front of me had difficulty. I figured it out! It's the employees! I have been to this location several times now and cannot believe how completely mis-managed this place is and how little the employees care about providing customer service. We went in at about 6:15pm and did the self order, got our drinks and sat down at a table. It was at this time I realized something was wrong. I noticed that about 90% of the people in the dining room were also sitting with drinks only and their order number. After I did a quick count, i realized that there were approximately 20 orders ahead of us. I then noticed that there was a table of three teenage employees (on break?) sitting in a booth laughing. They clearly were not worried about the back up in the restaurant or helping their fellow employees who were up to their eyeballs in orders. It was at this time that a customer hopped up and went to the counter and demanded a refund and announced that he had been there already for 45 mins and had still not received his food. I followed him and got a refund as well and went next door to Culvers where I ran in to 3 families that had also left Whataburger. We all had our food at Culvers within minutes. This Whataburger location has been opened for long enough that they cannot make excuses any more. There is a fundamental issue for the reason they constantly get bad reviews and it is the employees. I am challenging the General Manager to address this issue head on. The GM needs to spend time in the restaurant watching the employees, review the film footage from weeks prior, walk around the restaurant and ask customers how their past and current experiences have been. I love Whataburger food but will not be back to this location until something changes. I have read many reviews throughout the years on Yelp and respect when a GM or owner takes the time to respond to a negative review. It shows that they take the feedback seriously and want to do better. I have not seen one negative review for this restaurant where anyone has responded. They need to make a public announcement as soon as they figure out how to move the drive through, in the mean time shut it down. While I was in line I saw 5 cars pull out of line due to the wait, saw one couple go inside & come back out with no food. Saw one truck go up to Culver's. The wait was more than 15 minutes for the drive thru and the line wasn't that long. I ordered a double cheeseburger with a large order of onion rings. What I got was two double cheeseburgers and fries, no onion rings. The cheeseburgers were cold, the fries were cold, but at least the diet coke was correct. The drive thru ordering process looked like mass confusion. The burgers were basically a large version of a Sonic burger. I won't be going back. Totally under impressed. read more
