I don't even know where to begin. I have 2 mini split units that are used for A/C and heat. Last winter the outside fan units got clogged with snow and ice and it was recommended that they be raised above snow level to avoid future issues in the winter. That sounded very reasonable to me. I asked for a quote and it was about $900 to raise both units on metal sling stands. So each stand was about $200 plus labor...made sense. I was expecting this to look awesome! We set up a day and time- I took the day off of work and the day before they cancelled. We rescheduled for 2:30 a few weeks later and I said I'd be home shortly after they started to oversee the project but I wasn't there at 2:30 and they never called and just left. We rescheduled a 3rd time- Zach called me at 9:54 to tell me he arrived and at 10:20 told me he was finished and decided to use "stone" as he felt it looked better and $200 cheaper. I was really excited! He sent me a picture as well...and when I got home....it was horrible- he pretty much lifted my units on concrete blocks you can get at Walmart. Some were gray and some brick colored. Needless to say- not a $700 job nor is a concrete block the same as "stone" - they were not secured in any way, shape or form- After talking to him, he said that they couldn't get the metal sling stands and they wouldn't work but no one told me. So the next day I asked for an itemized list : material cost and labor cost per hour but he just couldn't give me that info- very weird! That's protocol in any construction type of work! So I told him if I knew they were going to put them on concrete blocks, I could have done that for $50! They tried to take advantage of me! It was later admitted that the job was small and it wouldn't have been worth it for them to do ( travel- gas- ) I couldn't believe my ears! if it was a small/ cheap project I would have had more respect if they were honest and told me it was much too small of a job and not worth it rather than try to screw me out of $700! I was born at night- but not last night! I expected a professional looking final product for $700....So I put up a fuss and he said he'd come back and get his concrete blocks and call it a wash- Funny how all of a sudden it's worth their time to come and get $25 worth or concrete blocks. My advice to this company: HONESTY saves everyone's time! read more

We used Wheeler Heating and Cooling to update and fix out furnace at the start of winter in 2018. In the past we have used another local company but had to call them back several times because the "replacement parts" kept breaking. Wheeler Heating recognized the problem from the first visit, had it fixed in a short amount of time and our house and never been warmer. Usually we use a pellet stove because our furnace can not keep up with the cold weather, however this year we have only use the pellet stove twice (When is was below 15 degrees) and our house has consistently stayed at 68 in all rooms. Got a quote for an upgraded (more efficient) Ruud complete system that was by far the lowest of several I got (and for better system). Just had the system installed. Woke up to no heat. Zach came over on Friday and pronounced that the furnace was old (23 years) and needed 2 parts probably "if he could find them." He would get back to us Monday. We also asked for a quote for a replacement, knowing they sell a brand we trust, Bryant. Monday morning comes and goes, nothing. My husband called the office. The frazzled woman in the office said repairs are $600. Replacement, low efficiency is $2800, high efficiency $3850. Would he like paperwork emailed? No, we would think about it. I called JJD and they came right away. See their review. Called Wheeler back for more information. Turns out, low efficiency model is Payne, which we never wanted. Asked for paperwork. There really is none for replacement, only repair. Asked owner to call to answer more questions. They can't do the job for over a week! Really? You couldn't mention that Friday? Or earlier today? We have used Wheeler heating and cooling for seven years now & with Michael,Zac and Aaron we have had EXCEPTIONAL service over the years. The Wheeler boys installed central air units in our old farmhouse 7 years ago...showed up on time, pleasant knowledgeable & ready to work. Whatever little issues we've had w/the central air over the years we just had to call-they called us right back, came over to our rural location & fixed the problem each time. These boys are personable, courteous, RELIABLE & THEY KNOW THEIR STUFF! We had one small issue that was a difficult problem to identify yet Zac came today (1 business day after calling), looked at everything & FIGURED IT OUT! Totally dissatisfied with the service, after viewing all the great reviews I chose to go with a small company. So many things that this company did wrong. 1. Negligence. Owner had his sons install our furnace. He did not check their work. His sons did not handle our oil tank properly and caused an oil leak. Now we have to deal with a problem they caused because of their inexperience. 2. Poor customer service. Once we identified the problem, they acted like this was not a big deal and had to call them on several occasions to have them come in and try to fix the problem. 3. They did not complete the work! Even though we paid in full for the service. We still do not have a working furnace. And we keep calling company to have them finish, and their date available keeps being pushed. I can keep going, but I think this is enough. I don't usually place bad reviews but I just can't let this company treat people this way. read more

Called about putting in some shut-off valves for the hot water heater. The unit is supposed to be installed with at least one (cold water line) but was not. Had to repeat myself twice to the woman on the phone who couldn't seem to understand what it was that I needed done. Finally, she says she'll have them - I'm assuming the people who may actually know something and do the work - call back in the morning. No one ever called back. The next day or any day thereafter. I suppose my job was too "small-time" for these guys to be bothered with.. Luckily, I had a competitor come and do the job in 20 minutes with no issues and no complaint and at a fair price. read more
