I've used this business 4 times for small problems. They have a good staff, they were timely and neat. They are not cheap but they are professional. When things go well they are excellent. The fifth time, and a larger project, a pressure pump, they were HORRIBLE. They failed to trouble shoot a problem properly and I was forced to get someone else to fix it. The owner actually told me he would call in a week to make an appointment, A WEEK TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT PHONE CALL. It took 2 weeks for that call. I got someone else. You should too. I had M Schwarz to my house for an estimate on a heat pump. Very nice man and nice conversation. He measured etc. and seemed knowledgeable about the product. Said he would send the estimate. Never got it, even after I followed up with two emails, of which he did not respond. No reason given for the non-response. Do not like to have my time wasted, nor do I like to be disrespected. I moved into my first home back in 2016. The previous home owner used this company so I figured I would call to inquire about pricing for servicing my furnace. I called a few companies and J&M came in the cheapest. Due to this and the fact they have serviced (if not, maybe put in these devices) I went with them for servicing my furnace. I was told the previous owner hasn't had the furnace or AC serviced for a few years. Since it was fall, I decided to do furnace only. Day of a nice man came and did this thing. He was thorough, nice, and told me what he did in detail. Fast forward a year (maybe) and my heat wasn't turning on well. Never owning a home before, I had no idea what was going on and called for an emergency visit. A man came same day and fixed my issue. In the end, I spent a little over $100 for a few filter. First time homeowner failure #46. Lesson learned and I have kept up with those things religiously. Zena, Goddess of Fire, battled with her furnace. The furnace died. In victory (seemingly), I contacted (3) area providers. The first would be contractor was chatty, friendly, and informative, explaining in terrific detail how to make heat with the different systems available. He told me that my hot water tank (6 years old) was installed incorrectly. When I told him HIS COMPANY did the work he went mum. The estimate did not address fixing their shoddy work and was the most expensive. ZAP!!! Number two was a tall, young man with the family name of the company to his credit. He missed the hot water heater, only had those noisy single phase units, and wanted half up front before the work started. BAM!!! Contractor number three, Mark of J&M, was a funny little guy but no nonsense and smart. He also noticed the hot water tank was not up to code, recommended a dual phase unit, sent a very professional letter outlining exactly the work I should expect, and gave me the lowest estimate. KISS! Two guys showed up the day they were scheduled, on time, which was good, since I had to sequester the guard cats and took the day off. It took about 7 hours to complete, but the old unit was gone, the new one was working, the AC was checked, and the hot water tank was reconnected properly. The workers were kind, respectful, and helpful showing me how everything work, and they had ALL the paperwork lined up for rebates, etc. I was impressed. I loved you old furnace, but I've moved on. Great Service: My central air conditioner was not working the other day as the heat outside the house was rising into the 90+ degree range. I called J and M Schwarz and they immediately responded and found that my motor was bad. Within hours they came back to my house and installed a new motor. J and M Schwarz was extremely responsive and very professional in every sense of the word. I have used J and M Schwarz every year to do general maintenance on my furnace, air conditioner and Generac back up generator. I am extremely happy with all their services. What a joke this business is. Told me I needed a whole new unit for $3800. Called someone else and the whole thing was fixed with a $50 part. I called the owner and he was confused as to what his guy did when he looked at it. Then got rude. Then just hung up on me. Hard to believe ! Stay far away from this place. Our 44 year old furnace kept making exploding noises. I called 3 different Heating and Cooling professionals to give us an estimate. Mark from J&M Schwarz was by far the most knowledgeable. He gave us a couple of different options. One being we could just replace a part. But we decided to replace the whole unit since the furnace was old and would probably have another break down in the near future. In addition, we were able to get a new ac unit at a reduced price by doing both the furnace and ac at the same time. Our ac unit was 30 years old. Mark wrote on the invoice that the furnace was being installed with an ECM blower motor and therefore we should receive a $280 rebate from National Grid. The rebate came and it was for only $140. I called National Grid and they informed me that the model we had installed did not have an ECM blower motor. I called J&M Schwarz and Mark quickly returned my call and apologized for the mistake and promised to mail me the $140 that he mistakenly said I would receive. I sincerely appreciate the honesty of this company and would recommend J&M Schwarz Heating & Cooling to anyone in need of their services. Our new furnace is working beautifully and our home is toasty warm! read more
