Pengyew catered our wedding in Montague, MA this past weekend. In short, he's incredible. For starters, his food is phenomenal. It's unique, full of interesting flavors, and delicious. He offered us a variety of options and was happy to get creative with our attempts to keep costs down. I love that he can do a big meal that's vegan and gluten-free by default, so that accommodating a variety of food allergies isn't an additional hassle. (Our gluten- and lactose-intolerant friends were so happy to be able to eat freely at the wedding.) We got rave reviews of the meal--salmon in a tamarind glaze, spicy chickpeas, baby bok choi with tofu, and coconut rice--and all of the appetizers. Pengyew also went above-and-beyond by coming up with the idea to serve chai (my family is Indian) and people loved that. But the food isn't the only thing that makes Pengyew Catering special. What makes Pengyew Catering special is Pengyew himself. What an amazing person. He was on top of every detail from the beginning, super responsive throughout, and was happy to advise on things unrelated to food. He helped with decorations, helped us pull off the Friday night and Sunday meals even though he wasn't catering them, and was just fun, witty, and kind throughout. I highly recommend working with Pengyew Chin to cater your next event. Pengyew catered our wedding and did a fabulous job creating an entirely vegan menu that we and our guests all loved. We received several compliments on the food from our guests! What stands out the most about Pengyew's work is his careful attention to detail. He truly helped to plan our wedding and knew all of the important questions to ask leading up to the event. His expertise and thoughtful input over email and during an in-person meeting shaped our event and ensured a comfortable day for our guests. I had wanted the chairs for our ceremony facing a very particular direction, and Pengyew made sure that happened. In addition, it was very humid that day and the bottom tier of our wedding cake cracked. Pengyew and his staff rescued the cake so that we could still have the traditional cake cutting photo before serving to the guests. Finally, he generously offered to help manage all the rentals for our wedding, which greatly reduced my time spent coordinating. Pengyew and his staff truly went above and beyond. From our initial conversations planning the event to the selection of the menu and extensive coordination with other wedding vendors, to the beautiful decoration of the venue and the serving of food, we were immensely happy with his services and would most highly recommend them. Pengyew did a wonderful job catering our wedding this past weekend. It was an outdoor wedding and the heavy rain that we received the night before made the setup under our tent challenging. Pengyew and his hardworking staff went with the flow and made our tent look beautiful and organized by the time everyone arrived. He has a special eye for detail and helped decorate the tent with his own colorful saris and even put flower petals on our cake table. The food was amazing! It was so fresh and flavorful. We received many compliments from our guests. Pengyew was available throughout our whole planning process. He helped us organize our tent layout and rentals. I really cannot say enough about how wonderful Pengyew and his staff were at a large cocktail party that I recently hosted. We met several times in advance at my house, and he generously made additional visits to check on tent placement, decoration, and so many other things. The food was really terrific. I've been to many other events catered by him, so was not at all surprised. The bar was beautifully and efficiently set up. And Pengyew's staff is unrivaled. They are exquisitely thoughtful, efficient, gracious, polite, and seem to anticipate every need. Pengyew also arranged all the rentals (tent, tables, chairs, lights, and so forth) with Northampton Rentals, who also did a perfect job. It was a superlative level of work from start to finish. Wow. I cannot tell you how delighted I was with Pengyew Catering. Pengyew and his staff quite literally took care of pretty much every detail of my party. The food was exquisite and plentiful. Each dish was fragrant and scrumptious with an extremely artfully constructed flavor palette. And then there was the friendly staff, who made us all feel relaxed and special at the same time. Finally, Pengyew himself was super to work with. His communication is clear and friendly and then, on the day of the event, he made himself available to help in the most lovely ways. Pengyew catered and helped plan a 75th Birthday party for 20. He was a delight to work with and the food was amazing. As requested he started wita small demonstration of how he cooks the appetizers- even our 3 grandchildren - ages 4, 9 and 11 were fascinated. There were many favorites - the top being a spinach appetizer and Birthday Noodle soup. We had the event in our house and he helped arrange the needed rental equipment, and the whole party area. Once he arrived with his helper we had nothing to do - they took care of everything and even cleaned up. Allowing us to just attend to the party itself. Pengyew catered my wedding last year, and he did an absolutely amazing job. I had a vegetarian and gluten free Asian menu (including an incredible chocolate moose desert). Not only was the food beyond what I could have wished for, but the whole night was perfect. I feel like he was my wedding planner, but without the cost. He arranged for all of the rentals, and his staff even took care of my self service bar, which was way above and beyond what we had agreed upon. I was planning to have a low key and possibly disorganized wedding, because my budget was minimal. But because of him and his staff, everything was absolutely perfect. Pingyew catered our 35th reunion dinner, about 140 people, at Amherst College this past May. From start to finish, it was a pleasure. The food was exceptional. We served passed hors d'oeuvres, multiple main courses and sides and an array of desserts. He helped design the menu and was right on. Presentation was beautiful. Pingyew was so pleasant and easy to work with, and his staff and service were the same. Pricing was very competitive. His attention to detail made everything easy for the hosts. Pengyew donated a ten-person dinner to the Cancer Connection charity silent auction. We purchased the dinner for our family. Pengyew was easy and flexible to work with in preparation for the event. Pengyew arrived one-hour before the dinner. He spontaneously accommodated us serving the appetizers on the deck, the dinner in the kitchen, and the dessert in the dining room where we ate dinner. The presentation of all food was beautiful. Despite the varying eating habits of the ten of us, everybody found dishes that they loved. Two bonuses were that we all liked Pengyew a lot as a person and he left the kitchen spotless. read more

We hired Peng Yew Catering for a garden wedding party of about 85 people. During the planning, Peng Yew was responsive and helpful; very comfortable to work with. In collaboration with my wife, he managed the logistics of the tent, tables, chairs, place settings, etc. We are foodies and the food Peng Yew prepared for the event didn't disappoint. It was much more interesting and innovative than most of the catering menus we looked at and it received rave reviews from our guests. His staff was friendly and efficient. We had the pleasure of working with Pengyew Catering a few weeks ago for a Celebration of Life. We had 350 guests at the event which was held both inside and outside. My husband and I just had our one-year anniversary and we are still reflecting on what a great choice it was to have Pengyew cater our wedding. He provides delicious, unique food, impeccable service, and he has a wonderful aesthetic touch. I recently hired Mr. Chin to cater my wedding and I honestly couldn't be happier. The food was beautiful. Light, aesthetically pleasing, and most importantly delicious.
