Unpleasant staff and long wait times for sub-par food. The music was okay and the bar looked nice. Not worth the $$

It was a busy place when I walked in and fortunately has food as I needed some badly. They have a lot of beers and a few ciders on tap, I counted 17 today. I went with a flight of four, which felt very restrictive and not very inclusive. The Berserker raspberry lemon sour was up first. This had a very light color and good flavor to it. The flavors worked together very well. The Luminance DIPA was recommended by the charming young lady next to me at the bar. I hadn't chosen a fourth beer and told the beer tender I'd take his choice in the matter. He went with the luminance. And I'm glad he did. Nice flavor throughout. Solid beer here! The Absolute Elsewhere maibock was a good example of the style. Fairly light and easy to drink overall. Last, maybe, was the smoked honey brown ale. I ordered this since SWPFTD loves browns and reds. This was pretty tasty and I think SWPFTD would have enjoyed it. If anyone is a glutton for punishment, please, follow my brewery, and distillery, reviews from across the U.S. and beyond! https://www.yelp.com/collection/-8iscFkpiiCI563-FDfwGg and if anyone is wondering who SWPFTD is you will have to check out my review of Black Market Brewing Co in Temecula, CA to understand. Yes, you will need to read into it a little to get the joke but I have confidence in you! I hope my confidence is not misplaced. I was hungry since I hadn't eaten since I as on the plane. The schnitzel sandwich with the duck fat fries was very good!

I guess I am not a fan of the vibes, as I do prefer more of a pub style brewery than one that gives hipster vibes. The service is fine as well. It's definitely a Guelph must visit but not one that I'm nuts about.

Give me a break, there was beer involved and 315 is WAY more fingers and toes than I have! FGB is built out in an old garage. Not a lot of seating inside and a woefully small bar but it does have a nice patio area out back. It was pretty much empty when I arrived with only two customers. No one was at the bar and I ended up standing around for about five minutes while the brewer and another guy were getting stuff done. I was just about to walk out when one realized the server had left to pick up food for the other customers. No hard feeling as these things happen but they should pay more attention. More than enough said. I ordered a flight of four, out of the six they had on tap. The cherry sour had a very nice cherry aroma and flavor but to overly sour. SWPFTD might disagree though as she doesn't care for sours. The Dutch blonde ale was up next. Very light with a hint of a bready flavor at the end. Breakaway IPA was a light aroma and bitterness IPA with a little haze to it. Easy drinking as far as I'm concerned. Last up was Stone Hammer dark ale, which had a malty flavor but a little harshness on the finish. This was not hops but I didn't love this one. FGB seems like a cool little local hangout. A few more folks came in but it was surprisingly empty for a Friday at 5:30. I was in-town on a Monday and I know it's lockdown, but many good restaurants/bakeries were also closed. So aside from grocery stores + their breweries, there wasn't much to see in the City! Girl who was working was quite friendly and explained their 10 options they had for sale. I picked up a few cans. I was told that there are 3 different Fixed Gear locations: this one in the Junction has a taproom, the one on Alma does NOT have a taproom, and they recently opened up their "Canteen" which has a pizza oven. Apparently, they were hoppin' prior to the lockdown. I *may* update my review...after trying out my cans, so cheers!

The appetizers (calamari, mozza sticks, and wings) were great! Very solid choices although personally the wings (medium) were a little too sweet for us. Service was ok but the waitress did seem a bit stressed. The mains, however, were a bit disappointing. The burgers were just ok, my halloumi in the halloumi salad was burnt (although the salad itself was great), and the children's cheese sandwich was also burnt. The fish & chips were very oily. Usually I really want to like and rate local establishments well as I am a local myself, but burnt food is a no-no and unfortunately with kids I don't really have the time to ask for a remake. Great vibes for a good beer though.

Thus was pretty hopping for a small brewery but it became clear why when I found out they were doing trivia. Yes, I'm a team of one and...I suck! The Scarlet Fox Amber was a smooth amber which SWPFTD would enjoy. Finn's Jig pale ale tasted a little...dank for lack of a better term. I'm curious what hops they used in this one. Certainly not bad but different. Ok, I'm really not sure which beer this was I just tasted. No, it is NOT because this is my third brewery this afternoon! It's because they only had three of their five regulars on tap along with three seasonals. No, they didn't mark the four beers on the tasting board. That's ok, it was either the Laddicus lager or the cream ale. I'm guessing the cream ale but can't be sure. Regardless, it was a very drinkable lager. The last one here was the Fire Side ale. I knew I could taste nutmeg in it and the young ladies behind the bar confirmed it was the amber ale spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg. WBB was obviously a local hangout. The kind of place SWPFTD and I would hang out at if it were close to home. For a retirement gift, my boss had bought $50 gift certificates to six micro breweries in Guelph, which has been great. We've had dinner at some, but at others, I have just bought cans of beer to go (usually I put in a bit more cash and get 18 cans). This place must not have had a proper gift certificate, because I just had a "pint card" (4 beers value - $34) and the balance was rung up as 2 X 473mL lagers, for about $50. I explained to the server that I was sure this was meant to represent a $50 gift card and she said it was just a pint card and my boss must have drank the two tall boys there (while touring around Guelph to get gift cards at 2pm). Anyway, I finally took the 4 cans, which were $34 plus tax, although for $30, you could get 6 cans. I'm probably going on too long about this, but I feel like I was ripped off and this is my only way to deal with it, emotionally. Anyway, I will never go back there again, and please, never buy a gift certificate from this establishment.
