It was a chilly night and we needed a warm place to sit and grab food quickly. This place seemed inviting from the outside so we walked in and were seated immediately. We were seated by the door, so each time the door opened we got cold. We got the cheese dip (came with naan), this dish came out piping hot, as we were still warming up, this hit all spots, it was rich in flavour. I could have eaten this on its own as a main. The margherita pizza arrived soon after, it was also freshly made. Large enough for two to share. Overall, we really enjoyed our quick meal. The service was alright, they happened to be short staff but we didn't have to wait too long. read more

Royal Electric shares a pizzeria with Jimmy Jazz next door. On Mondays pizza is usually half price. We were there on Monday specifically for pizza. Our server lied to us about pizzas not being available - so we had burgers. On the way out, we saw that not only did Jimmy Jazz have pizzas, but they were selling them for half price. I don't know why the server at Royal Electric lied to us, maybe they just didn't want to serve half-price pizzas. But in any event, we won't be going back. read more

I came here while visiting friends over a month ago. When walking into the place, the whole atmosphere had that downtown, pub vibe that embraces the whole retro rock and roll style; I loved it! We were seated at a booth and given menus, and were offered the specials at the time. We had browsed the menu for a few minutes and then once we decided it didn't take long to order and to get our meals. I had ordered the mushroom soup, and it was absolutely delicious; it was very creamy and flavourful. I had a cider to drink as well. A great place for a meal out with friends, the atmosphere is wonderful, the music is great, the food was delicious and the company was great. I'd love to come back here, next time I'm in town. read more

I want to start off by saying that I love Royal electric as a bar and have had many good times here. It's also a cool place to go during the day for food. However I think I picked the wrong food item when I ordered. I ordered the portobello mushroom burger and the portobello comes battered. That wouldn't have been a problem except the ratio of batter to mushroom was way off. I felt like I was eating only batter. And the burger was just average in taste as is so that definitely hindered the experience. On the other hand, my friends at the table had the fettuccine Alfredo and said it was amazing, like 5/5. So I think I need to go back and try something else to get a better sense of the food here. read more

Terrible staff. On NYE I went out for a smoke at 2 am, leaving 5 of my friends inside. We bought a table and 2 bottles. Spent a lot of money. When I tried to get in, the power trip doorman would not let me in. He said I had to wait outside, in the freezing cold when all my friends were inside. I explained to him that it's just me, I will go inside and get my friends. Nope! The doorman made me stand alone, on a side walk, in the freezing cold, while I'm in a dress, while all my friends are inside. My friends didn't know I was outside. I literally had to plough my way thru to get in to my friends. Then the manager came over and he wouldn't let me speak. He wouldn't let me tell my side of the story, he didn't care that we spent nearly 500 dollars. The manager then kicked us out. So unprofessional. We were a bit sceptical about this place given that it is a bar. We gave it a go for family dinner and made reservations for 7 PM. The place was already starting to get full and we were glad we made reservations, although I don't think it was absolutely necessary. We noticed that it is a very popular spot for large groups. There was more than one large table reserved for a birthday party and another large gathering. The DJ had not started yet. The service was great. Loved the decor. And the food was above average bar food. My daughter particularly loved the chicken salad club. Excellent variety of beer on tap. Overall enjoyed our dinner out to a place we hadn't ever been before. read more

They always have cheap and yummy specials, and their caesars are delicious. My favourite thing about this place is their customer service - I have gotten friendly and helpful service every time I've eaten here. This is my #1 place to go to for a drink after work. read more

Service started great as well as the hostess but once we got in first drinks as well as an appetizer we never saw our server again but we did see her go to alot of the tables around us as well as walking by. As two people who work in the service industry it was painful because we felt as we were girls she did not wanna pay attention to us but only to the men all around us. We ordered a burger with soup, and a fried chicken mac n' cheese plate. The soup was ginger squash and tasted so good you'd almost mistake it for curry sauce. The burger patty was real -- it had actual beef flavour. The fried chicken was moist, there were 3 pieces, and they had such thick batter some of it could potentially chip your teeth (hyperbolic thought, it's great, but too much of a good thing for my personal preference). The mac n' cheese was warm and the macaroni pasta wasn't dry. All platters were generous with pickles (why are restaurants stingy with pickles anyway?!). They have music entertainment in the evenings but I haven't attended yet, and will likely return at night to check it out. The decor was tasteful, and we love the ambiance of stone walls, steel pipe details, reclaimed wood furnishings. The artisan lightbulbs and lighting were tasteful and did not elicit any mean-spirited Portlandia jokes from us. The restaurant tables and chairs are clean and not sticky, the bathrooms are clean, new, and can rival the interior of a steakhouse chain's washrooms :) read more

I wandered into this place last week just planning to grab a drink & possibly an app. I was pleasantly surprised to see they had 6$ craft beers on Mondays & a good craft beer selection. While sipping on my beer at the bar I glanced over the menu & was again happy to see they had beef carpaccio on the menu so I ordered it. Best beef carpaccio I've had yet. I rarely see it on a menu where I live. After eating that I decided I should stay & try more on they menu so I ordered the crab lobster roll & it was also amazingly delicious considering I was in central Ontario. The next day I checked out some reviews of other local eatery's & decided just to come back here. So on Tuesday they had 2$ drumsticks & ribs. Both were good although the rib was cold in the center which didn't upset me at all it was still fall off the bone tasty but I informed my server of this when she asked me how everything was & she immediately took it off my bill which I thought was awesome service considering I was just trying to give some feed back to the kitchen. Needless to say I ate dinner here all four days I was in town I tried as much as I could on the menu. The Nashville chicken wings were excellent! I would recommend this place to anybody staying in Guelph. Great food, drinks atmosphere & from my experience amazing service! read more

Wait staff is just ok...not overly attentive...waited for a good while our second time there before anyone came over. Can't believe the kitchen closes at 10 on a Friday night! Great atmosphere, really cool decor, good service but do not go for the food other than burger and fries. Everything else my party of 10 ordered ranged from 'ok' to inedible. The plate of nachos my daughter was looking forward to was served with fake cheese sauce (yep like the ones at an arena - yuk). Inedible. Other customers didn't look very pleased either.
