Beware! This company does work without your consent, and will charge you! I am disappointed to leave this pool company after 2 years because they went ahead, and did work outside of my agreed upon contract of a pool opening. At no point in time did they contact me to do "additional work". Therefore, be very careful. They replaced a piece that did not need to be replaced on top of my filter, tossed to the side. Not once letting us know. Not once hearing from us to agree on them touching anything outside of an opening. What's more disturbing is now the piece that was replaced I am not sure can go back. Thus, forcing me to now shut off my pool filter and now not using my pool until this company resolves this blatant issue of unauthorized work and possible damage to what they replaced as irreplaceable now. Make sure you find a pool company that values their customers consent on all work done on your property. Especially because I was not even home for this lack of consumer respect. I would ALSO like to point out that the items replaced were there last year and the year before that. and NO ONE DID OUTSIDE REPAIRS UNTIL NOW. Company has the etiquette of a KMart with Gucci prices. We have used concord pools infrequently due to the distance between our home and their location. We have never had an issue with the field team. However, the office help is unprofessional and argumentative. this will absolutely be the last time we use them and we are only continuing to allow them out because it's so late in the year. I have friends who have also had the same issues. We like to keep our pool open as long as possible because it looks nice. I can't attach photos or I would send our message thread. below is a direct copy paste from the start of our conversation this week: 29Oct: Concord: Hello, this is Concord Pools. Do you still need your pool closed with us or should I cancel the appointment? Me: yes pleas 11/7 right? Concord: Yes, please send back the 2025 Service Program form that was emailed to you to confirm the appointment. Thank you. Me: ok we did not do it that night because we had a home emergency. 24 hours later 30Oct: Concord:Hello from Concord Pools, I have not received the confirmation form for your pool closing and without it we will need to reschedule or cancel the appointment. Our appointment is on 07Nov. Over a week away. The conversation continued with them going back and forth. When I had had enough I confronted them saying "You're right, and last year u over charged us adding in full close when only a partial was done. So I guess we all make mistakes" they responded back with a lie "You were never actually charged for a full last year; it was voided before it went through. We will see you on the 7th. Thank you and have a nice day." we were charged. I had to call and get a refund. I don't expect to be in a tit for tat with a high priced pool company. i Ended it by blocking them. I just had a fiberglass pool installed in my backyard. Concord Pools exceeded my expectations in every aspect of the process. Everyone was extremely friendly, efficient, and professional. Every question was answered immediately and, if the person did not know the answer, they found out and got right back to me. Scheduling was easy and they always arrived when expected. So we bought our retirement home early during the pandemic and a big part of that was having a pool. After getting screwed by a local crook (wanted to support a local business) we then reached out to Concord. From start to beyond finish, I have been thrilled with Concord. My salesperson, Bucky, not only helped us with the design and kept us abreast of developments as we had to wait during covid (he was always up front about the wait time), he has continued to be responsive and helpful well after the sale if I have a quick question. When the pool was complete, byt we realized the concrete subcontractor put in a flawed concrete patio, Concord stepped up and made sure it was right. And today (may 9, 2024) when I noticed there was a problem with my pump (due to leaving my autocover open and a lot of debris getting caught in the filter), PAM, who answered my call at the service desk, was on the phone with me for at least a half hour and talked me through the steps to try to get it working. Imagine you're a homeowner. Not a freshman homeowner, but one that has had experiences hiring contractors/movers/lawyers, making home improvements, closing on new homes...etc. You're not a spring chicken...but maybe you look like one. Perhaps you've always wanted a pool. But...you cut corners. You know a guy....that knows a guy...that can dig a hole and save you some bucks....but...hey....his work is good! Trust me! You'll be better served using "that guy". I kinda wish I knew that guy. Because I hired Concord Pools late last year and they started working on my dream pool this past April. Six months later....screw that dream pool and welcome to my nightmare. I have never experienced a more horrendous, stressful and borderline ridiculous construction project. So many things to list....so little time. Details don't matter here in cyberspace, however, I'm happy to share with anyone that is willing to sit for hours to listen to the absurdities...but bring alcohol. Very strong alcohol. One would assume that when hiring a company that only builds pools, that they would be incredibly good at what they do. Nope. Not Concord. They singlehandedly ruined my summer. As terrible as this experience has been, I can give a positive shout out to the sales guy and construction manager. They have done what they can to quell my pool-construction-induced insanity, but at the end of the day, this entire project has been a disaster. Yes. It's September. I'm 66 years old and no pushover, so trust me when I say that Concord Pools did an incredible job, from my first inquiry right to the end. Their phone coordinator, Ali, is a great communicator -- smart, responsive and right on top of things (she's also just plain sweet). A great asset to the company. Their installer Shawn and his co-worker Thomas were terrific -- skilled craftsmen and also nice guys, which is almost as important. Shawn went the extra mile in a bunch of ways, and in addition to doing an excellent job is a man of his word. The whole job was done in a day, including bringing in a water company to fill the pool (over 25,000 gallons). Brad, in Sales, was a pleasure to work with as well; he promised late May / early June, which was important for me -- and they did the whole thing on May 23rd. Fantastic service. I truly wasn't expecting this to go so well; it's complicated, back-breaking work. I could not be happier. If you're in the Albany area and have a pool (mine's an in-ground, 20x40) this is the only way to go. And no, I'm not a family friend, never had any dealings with Concord before this job, and have no connection whatsoever, other than being a very happy customer. read more

Buyer beware. Concord management are used car salesmen. They come to your house and sell you on their name and products. They tell you that Concord is a known company that will always be around if there's issues. Well, here are the issues that we had over 10 years. -leak behind light causing liner to bubble.....twice -light fixed but liner continued to bubble. Concord told us after the fact that we have clay and we need drainage. We paid $2000 for concord to install French drain. Was told by Rich Fenwick that he's 99.9% sure that issue would be solved. Within 2 years, liner continued to bubble. Had to have pool emptied, liner set, and pool refilled on our dime multiple times. Concord then said we need more drainage. -concord claims that if you don't use them to close pool $275, the warranty will void. They closed our pool every year yet they continued to not diagnose and finally fix leakage problem. -the concrete outside shallow end of pool buckled. Some parts were over 1 inch above others, making it dangerous. -the sand and gravel outside the concrete kept eroding. Brought in multiple companies. Each claimed that concord did not use correct fill. -liner kept coming loose from top. -the one time concord told us that they would provide water for the refill, they lied and used our hose. When I complained, they sent me a $60 concord gift card. Childish. Overall, there were many problems. Don't believe anything they say. The website has testimonials from happy customers, but does not allow unhappy negative reviews. Yes, concord is the name, but they suck you dry. If my wife would have allowed, I would have filled the pool with topsoil and ended the problems. Concord is terrible. Buyer beware. read more

We purchased a pool from Concord in 2020 during the pandemic. We knew it would take a while due to the backlog of orders. What set Concord apart from others is they always kept us abreast on the status of our pool. They installed it last month and I am completely impressed with the professionalism of each employee on their crew. They were helpful and patient with all my stupid questions. Their entire team is focused on customer satisfaction. Sure there were some things that didn't go perfectly, but what project does? When there was a problem, they owned it and took care of it quickly. It really was a great experience and I highly recommend Concord Pools to anyone looking for one. I've seen other comments here on price and I have to say they were not the highest price from the others we looked at. To be fair, I must fist say that our pool project is not yet complete, so I'll gladly come back and update my review when Concord finally finishes our pool. Frankly, I'm hoping that I'll then be able to give them more stars, but not yet. The employees we've worked with so far have been very friendly and positive, so I've got to give them stars for that. My concern is with their communication, or lack thereof. We paid (several hundred dollars) to have clean water put in our new pool and it's been over 2.5 weeks and the filter has yet to be hooked up by Concord. Therefore, our brand new (expensive) pool looks like an icky, brown cup of thick coffee. Yuck! I think at this point the brown stagnant water MUST be a serious health concern. It's all rather disappointing. We've reached out to the company to try and get someone here and get details about when this will be remedied, and the responses have been spotty at best. Right now I'm emailing and calling with no results. The employees at Concord absolutely refuse to give us a timeline (or even a ballpark) for the completion of the project, which I'm now realizing is probably because they know that they are weak at project follow-through. You'd think that if you're the expert in the field of pool installation and you've been in business for many years, you'd AT LEAST be able to share some kind of a timeline for the project with the client/customer. Like most people, my family has a busy schedule so it's challenging to try and work around a project for which we literally have no idea of a schedule/timeline. Unfortunately, when the time they did tell us a date that they'd come by to hook up the filter and share important owner details with us (we have never owned a pool before and need a detailed tutorial), they did not show up or call to reschedule. My spouse had moved his work schedule around to ensure that he'd be home to talk with them on that day, so it was extra disappointing when they never showed up on that date. I'm still trying to get in touch with them to schedule the next step. As a new pool owner, maybe this negligent behavior is "typical" of pool companies and I'm being too harsh on Concord. He was wonderful, as everyone else in the company has been through the entire process. Concord's construction and installation crews are focused and efficient, and left the site spotless! Well, I'd like to write a full review but Concord apparently didn't want or need our business. My husband and I decided we wanted an in ground pool in May. We went to Concord in June. Mark (or Mike) came out and we laid it all out. Then the problems started. A power line was too close. Not an insurmountable problem by any means. However, Concord bailed. My husband received an email saying they weren't interested anymore. We hired another company who figured it out, got the permits and we got our pool. No thanks to Concord. read more

They are one of the only places that carries a high quality lump charcoal in Albany NY. Latham is the main store and actually keeps a stock on hand, so go there instead or call any other location before you go and make sure they have it. If they don't they can get it from Latham. Briquets are generally compressed contracting waste. I don't use them ever. Lump ranges from good to awful. Cowboy brand is awful crap. I saw the posts by others that complained about the high prices Concord Charges. I would agree that they are a bit more than others but I have personally found them to be worth every penny. Their expertise and professionalism is always present. I was actually really annoyed at Joey's review. Let me see if I understand this: He was in a jam and no one else could help him (TWICE!!). Yet, Concord Pools said they could help and he complains about the price? I'm going to guess that the great company he mentioned that he now frequents was too busy to help him out of a jam but is happy to sell him chemicals and let him cry on their shoulder? The pool was "disgusting" (his words), and yet he expected it to be crystal clear in under a week??? he didn't know it was disgusting prior to it becoming urgent? I don't know how bad it actually was but I know how long it takes to get my own pool, clean when it's full of leaves. Secondly, I learned the hard way that a pool with problem water will use up chlorine rapidly. I'm terrible at taking care of my water and Concord always helps me out. I don't like paying for it either but they always give me good advice and don't oversell me stuff I don't need so, in the end, I know I saved money over going to the "cheaper" guy. read more

I just had another great experience with Concord Pools and when I saw a recent negative review I had to share. I travel for business all the time and had a problem with my Pool Pilot that Needed to be taken care of. Not being home it was very important that the problem be resolved quickly and without any hassle and thanks to Concord that's exact what I got. They were timely, problem solved quickly and communicated professionally all done with me not being on site. I had no worries that they wouldn't mange the job. This was also during a very hot and very busy 4th of July time period. They went out of their way to accommodate my needs. All my siblings, three, have pools by Concord. 5 other friends in my neighborhood have pools by Concord and couldn't be happier. Concord tore out the old lining and put in a new one. Took 1/2 day. Filled it quick! They also replaced the old (30+ years) filter. Gave us options one which included fixing the old one. Great guys great company! They also said while they "Could" redo the apron of the pool (concrete - again 30+ years) it would make a mess of the yard and it wouldn't be ready for my daughter's wedding in June. I'll start my review by saying that we bought a master spa Sarah pool swim spa from Concord Pools, we were given an estimated delivery of mid August, a delivery arrived the second week in September. Getting a hold of somebody to talk with was difficult, when I did finally talk to a representative they were kind friendly and helpful to a degree, we did just receive the swim spa so I can't give a review on that I will try to remember to give an update on the spa, delivery people were extremely rude and tried to charge more money even before greeting me and saying hello, the delivery price was included in our spa purchase, we tried to tell them to roll the spa and not drag it across the floor which caused damage the guys response was very rude once again damaging our floor. I also feel like when you spend $26,000 with a company they could offer to send somebody out to help you with basic construction the swim spa was bought site unseen because of manufacturing delays. So therefore I do have to go with a very poor review on the company, the spot south looks great and I can't wait to use it finally after over six months of waiting for it. read more

This story provides the indisputable FACTS about a horror story and underscores why Only Fools buy Concord pools!!!!! * The nightmare started in August 2017 upon contract signing. The pool wasn't operational until June of 2018. A project that could take as little as two weeks with a dedicated team took 9 1/2 months! Even allowing for the winter months, it took six months! The contract says time is NOT of the essence due to weather, ground conditions, equipment availability, etc., but that clause was merely a legal and operational maneuver to avoid responsibility. * Concord pools people, from the top to the bottom, have absolutely no clue about customer service - only about money. From start to finish, dealing with this company is a disaster. Caveat emptor! * It's (likely) a private, family run business - these people are NOT professional pool retailers / installers in any sense of the word. I suspect chaos reigns inside the family and it infects the entire business process. The biggest problem is the owner himself - likely a company owner. He is first and foremost unable to manage a project, manage his crew, or communicate with a customer. He was NEVER in control of the project nor anyone else on his staff. On one of the two occasions when he came to my home (at my request to resolve major issues) he said to me, incredulously, "You act as though I'm out to get you?" At least he got that right. Despite his involvement on many occasions thereafter, nothing ever went as planned, regardless of the litany of calls I made to him and others and emails I sent. Replies and responses offered platitudes or excuses, instead of action and results upon which I could depend. Nearly 9 months in and the as yet unfinished end of the project - and the debacle - Fenwick acknowledged the terrible service and offered to forego the final nominal milestone payment. He'd made his money by then and wanted to rid himself of the project. Testimony to a terrible ending of a disaster. But for Concord Pools, I hope this experience - once publicized - will send home the message to Concord Pools and provide prospective customers with insight to make the right choice - go somewhere else!!! * Their contract (which I didn't read carefully upon signing - shame on ME big time!) - is designed to protect them - and is not intended to convey a commitment to the customer. Anything they can put on the customer they will - and do. The contract was a red flag and I missed it. * They require you to submit to arbitration and waive your legal right to seek equity in a court of law. Another BIG red flag! * They require milestone payments which are clever - no, devious, really. The first payment - a down payment, is one I expected, but the amount is huge. The next payment, also huge, is for the pool parts. Once paid, you have coughed up nearly half the cost of the pool and have received nothing but a delivery of boxed material. All future work required a payment UP FRONT else they threatened either not to show up or not start work. In this context, it's pure extortion. You've paid a large sum of money - despite what happens in the future. * They have no project management dedicated to each installation. Had someone owned this from the get go - and had a written project plan - well ... that didn't happen. An example - one of a litany - where a PM was essential: A very important element of the project that Concord never helped manage was the coordination of the electrical "bonding and installation, as well as the gas heater installation. These activities had to be done in lock-step with the Concord staff, and weren't, because they didn't manage it. I made countless calls to Concord to ascertain timing and process for these two critical steps. Their lack of response - and failure to coordinate their activities with the electrician and plumber - created delays and headaches for me since the contract calls for the Owner to engage these specialists. For example, how can the Owner plan the activities of these two specialists when they have no idea when Concord would perform their tasks such as, say, install the filter equipment? * They also didn't pull the pool installation permit themselves - lest they own the responsibility for doing it according to code. I made the mistake of making the application with the City myself. Concord gave me no guidance for a reason - they didn't want the liability. * They don't communicate or coordinate tasks among themselves or with customers. This is a HUGE problem for the customer. I can't tell you how many emails and phone calls I made to Concord pools to ascertain when they would perform a task and to get an explanation as to why they didn't show up! I have ALL of them, too! * Scheduling is a joke. They don't care about the customer's time, money, effort, or inconvenience. They cancel at will. "No call no show is their "MO: (method of operation.) The Absolute worst service you could ever receive from a spa company. We bought a spa three years ago and every six months so far either one of the pumps, the circuitboard or some other part of the hot tub has malfunctioned. Concord pools has failed to honor the warranty for the replacement parts, and on each occasion when we have asked that they come fix our spa it has taken no less than 15 to 20 calls to the company and 3 to 4 months for them to respond!! read more

Upon purchasing a foreclosed house, we walked into an unusual situation with our pool. It was neglected for several years and covered with wooden boards. We didn't know what state the pool was in. After removing the wood ourselves we revealed a nasty black swamp. Concord Pools was the only local company willing to take on such an unusual situation. They promptly assessed and quoted the problems, and after fixing the plugs, replaced all above ground plumbing, installed a new pump and high-quality DE filter (the old filter was cracked in half), and aggressively chemically treating the pool, the water was crystal clear and swimmable within a couple weeks. After two summers of doing business with them, they have been nothing but friendly and honest. They quickly return phone calls and do amazing work with high-quality parts and professional and experienced staff. We highly recommend them! read more

We wanted to say how happy we are with Concord Pools and the servicing of our pool. It was installed in the late 80's and they have always been available to help us with questions and to come to our home to service it when an issue arises. They are prompt and responsive and we couldn't be happier with their people and the results. We just had an issue with our pool heater earlier this month. We just had our pool opened by Concord. They left all kinds of garbage on our patio table (where we eat!) including chemical containers and the disposable gloves they used while doing the job. Concord pools are ridiculously over priced. I owned a house that I used to live in then started to lease out because I travel for work. I am now putting that house on the market so I needed to open the pool n make sure it was clean for potential buyers. Concord charged me $210 for a partial opening (where u take the cover off yourself) and an extra $120 for my flow over spa which has an extra 6 plugs they have to change. The $50 in new parts that I "needed", which btw when I looked found some of the old ones that they " couldn't find". I could of got it done a lot cheaper if I had another local company do it but I was on a time crunch for the house to be showed and concord was the only one with an opening. Secondly, my old tenants never took care of the pool when they closed it so it was disgusting. So I called concord back to see if they could do a one time cleaning to get it ready. Again they were the only one with any opening so quick so I had no choice but to use them. I specifically said I need the pool swim ready by Friday, this was on sun, meaning all leaves out clear blue water n whatever chemicals needed in it. They told me it was $120 an hr n it would take two hrs. Again over priced. But I had no choice n said ok. It took two weeks and 4 hrs n I "needed" more parts. It came to almost $500. And on top of that the pool was blue but cloudy. Went to have the water tested at a local pool place n there wasn't a drop of chlorine or anything in the pool. Basically not swim ready like I was told. Long story short I will never go to concord pools ever again. If you want a company that will have availability quick n be way over charged then Concords your place. If u want a reasonably priced company that will work with u try clear choice pools spas, & saunas in Clifton park. They were really helpful n I've gone to them before. They're great. read more
