We arranged a party for my 40th birthday and celebrated with my nieces and nephews, siblings and parents (ages 4 - 70s)! It was so so fun and the staff was super easy to work with during the planning process. They make it easy so you can get catered food delivered to share during the event, had clear communication on pricing and options posted online which was really helpful! We definitely want to go back - you'll have the best time if you go too! Whirlyball is an iconic Cleveland experience, one of a kind!! We only tried bowling so next time we'll try whirlyball for real. The bowling area was spacious, clean and nice and bright. Lots of balls to choose from (I think 6# was the lightest for the kiddos) and optional bumpers! Highly highly recommend! So much fun for all ages! My dad who is 81 played a round. We had a blast. Our family is super competitive and the games were closely matched. Ref was great and helped make the game. We did have a minor cart issue but it was no big deal and he let us make up the time lost fixing it. The beer selection is great and everyone was so accommodating and friendly. This far exceeded expectations! We came for a team building event and months later we are still talking about how much fun we all had! Bumper cars meets lacrosse in this fast paced game. And there is something for everyone as you've got a bar, arcade, and we were able to bring in some outside food or order food. What a thrill!! If you haven't played whirleyball before (or even have heard of it), I think of it as a mix between basketball using short lacrosse sticks BUT even better because you get to be in bumper cars!! You have to call to make a reservation to book a court, with a minimum of 8 people. You can have up to 10 on the court at a time, with 5 vs 5. It's honestly more fun with a full court. You can switch out people after every game, which takes about 15 minutes? I love that they have a referee to help move things along, but sometimes the speaker is hard to hear (think New York subway station mumbling). It takes a few minutes, about a game or so, to get used to the way the bumper cars drive and how to properly shoot the ball with the stick (keep it VERTICAL). They have a full bar and other things to do there, but I've always just gone for whirleyball and gone to eat elsewhere. Pinecrest is just up the street, with the full restaurants and all. Trust me, it's not just for the kids - even though you might feel old with children running around at their birthday parties...but hey, I had a group come to play whirleyball for my birthday so... The more people you get, the cheaper it is per person. It's a worthwhile experience to have with friends or even for team bonding. Hopefully nobody leaves frustrated! read more

I had the pleasure of visiting this place for a work function and let me tell you....it was a blast! At first, I was just going to just show up, eat and mingle but it looked so fun I had to try it! I was glad I did! It was fun and definitely a good time! My coworkers and I had such a good time that we decided to play laser tag. Not only did we all work up a good sweat, we had a blast doing it. We came for a birthday party for my children. Large complex, but very run down. The manager (may be the owner) is rough and impolite. So prepare yourself for that. I actually called him on it, and he acknowledged he was having a not great day with a couple of machines working (which is not my problem when I am spending 100s of dollars to come here). Agree with the other person who clearly encountered the same rude individual (it's not Rick, who appears to be the owner, but another gentleman who seems to be in his 50s with sort of graying hair). We did the laser tag and whirleyball combination. Be on time, they want to start IMMEDIATELY when you arrive and have people right after you. Overall, the kids seemed to have fun. I am taking off points only because of the rude experience. This place is for kids, aggressive behavior should not be tolerated. read more

I had a wonderful time here recently as WhirlyBall was part of my sister's birthday celebration. I'd heard of it before and always wanted to play and it definitely met and exceed expectations of fun. Plus, there seems to be a lot going on at this location that would merit multiple trips for different types of recreational activity. First of all the space is huge and when you walk in you are treated to some views into the WhirlyBall courts as well as to the large bar-top where folks will sign you in, take your health waivers, and where you can grab a beer or two! While we were waiting for the remainder of our party to arrive and our alotted time to begin (reservations can be made for an hour which gets you about 4 WhirlyBall games) we grabbed a Festivus and watched some folks play billiards. We decided to have a look around the place and were poking around the darkened windows next to the bowling sign when an employee asked if we'd like to see the lanes. We said yes and were treated to a look at their six-lane set-up which groups can also rent by the hour at a fairly reasonable rate (seemed to me) which includes bowling shoes and balls. I really like the throwback 90s chairs and bowling machines. :) They also have a laser tag arena. Although its size was indeterminate based on our peeking in the window view, it did have a lot of fun looking black-light lit obstructions for ambush activity. They also told us that there are a few Virtual Reality gaming set-ups on the way complete with a treadmill type running pad and a system you get strapped into. Friends will be able to watch a monitor so they can see what the VR person is seeing as well. Looked like that may also be a pretty fun addition for a group event! We had a run-down via instructional video on the rules of WhirlyBall including the uncomplicated but somewhat foreign driving mechanism. When our allotted WhirlyBall time started we were shown to some tables outside our arena and then into the arena where our referee greeted us and provided another run-down of the rules. When the game started, I took the first minute or so to get the hang of my car and then proceeded to drive around the arena like a mad-woman in pursuit of the ball. It was mega-fun but my poor driving abilities plus my competitive nature meant I kept slamming my thighs into the steering stick as I drove around. That was the extent of my self-induced injuries and while I still have the black and blue bruises to prove it, I had a great deal of fun and would definitely come back again for more! I think the main trip/trick here is getting a group of folks interested in an hour or more of fun activities and then booking the space for your group. May require a bit more forethought than some other activities but its well worth it for something really unique in a really fun environment. read more

I've been here a few times and today took ten fourteen year olds for a birthday party. They played 4 games of Whirlyball followed by 2 games of laser tag which took just over an hour and a half and everyone had a blast! The total was $255. Expect to leave a tip for the refs as well. Comparatively, I believe this was a good price for entertaining groups of teens and we just bought additional beverages and then came home for the rest of the party. The facility itself houses two whirlyball courts (I think the only ones in Ohio) with 10 cars each, six bowling lanes, a huge two story laser tag course with 24 vests and addition forms of entertainment like a pool table and other electronic type games. There is also a bar for adult parties. They partner with several area restaurants to deliver in food with a prior order. The bathrooms were clean as was the facility, but it was a bit banged up. I guess with so many groups of kids in there, there's bound to be destruction. All of the games we did were in perfect working order. The repairs I speak of are aesthetics like the carpet, walls, tables and stools. When I called to book the party, the staff was very helpful in listening to what I wanted and finding a time to accommodate my needs. Upon arrival, they were friendly and very patient with the excited teens. This is a unique establishment for entertainment. With most "party" facilities catering to young children, it's nice to find one catering to pre-teens to teens on up to adults. There are age limitations for some of the activities. Whirlyball is a blast, and the guys who run this are pretty chilled out which makes laughing like a 5 year old all but inevitable. Just got done going for the 10th plus time and still having a blast, this time playing 3 on 3 with some 30 something bachelors. I felt a little guilty seeing the 10 and under kids waiting to play, their little faces pressed to the window in awe and anticipation, but wait they did, it was my time! Whirlyball was GREAT! It's a total cross between go karts, bumper cars, lacrosse, basketball, and a little bit of tennis. Get 10 people together to book a court for an hour & it will run you about $15 bucks a person. They have a full bar - come early and have a few drinks. The parking lot is 100 percent sketchy - but! When we were there I had put my purse in the trunk and somehow the trunk popped open while we were inside - dude came in & told us and not a single thing was missing from my purse, thank god! Aaaaand yes it is across the street from the Crazy Horse for those that may wish to have some after party action. I left Whirlyball with some bruises on my thighs from the karts - good luck trying to figure out maneuvering those things but it was fun! You'll also get a bit sweaty although you aren't really getting that active - it's a wee bit warm. Would not suggest full face makeup or jazzy outfits. Think comfortable. They have 2 whirlyball courts available and I also believe there is laser tag and bowling. It was a great Friday night activity and we will be back again! My employer had our holiday party here last night. I heard we were going to WhirlyBall. I told my boss that this was my childhood nickname. A co-worker heard this and remarked "Whirly Ball?" WhirlyBall is awesome. I had no idea what to expect. It is bizarre. You ride around in bumper cars holding lacrosse type baskets and attempt to pick up a wiffle ball with them. Then you try to throw the ball at a backboard using the scooper. There are 5 cars on each team, and the cars kind of block and bump into you while you attempt to score. It is like basketball, Ullamaliztli (that Aztec ball game to the death), lacrosse, bumper cars rolled into one weird indoor game. The room that holds the cars smells of electric weirdness. It definitely brings out the inner child in you. I highly recommend checking out WhirleyBall. If you are ever sitting around wondering what to do with 9 of your friends, WhirlyBall should come to mind. Instead of throwing money away on a Friday or Saturday at a W 25th bar, go to play WhirlyBall. It is one of the most fun activities that I have done in a long time. Set up a birthday party for my boyfriend and his friends. We rented a couple hours of whirlyball and an hour of bowling. I should of just stuck with whirlyball or did lazer tag instead of bowling. Whirlyball was awesome we had 20ppl so we all had to watch a little video and then it was on. Everyone had fun and there was a bar as well so the pitchers and shots were flowing. You are not able to bring in outside food except cake/dessert. So i looked at the catering menu and decided on Pizza Connection of pizza wings and salad. The food was horrible. I wish they allowed outside catering or had other options. Alesci's would of been better. Also one of the bowling lanes weren't working correctly and we weren't able to finish our game of bowling. Went here yesterday evening with some of my cohorts for an amusing spectacle of ball scooping action. For the uninitiated, Whirlyball is a unique combination of bumper cars, basketball, Mayan handball, 1040EZ tax preparation, badminton, road rage, and curling. It sounds like it may be rather boring, but I assure you...that is far from the truth! We arrived and proceeded to bare knuckle fist fight in the whirlyball arena for the right to ride in the black cars. Here is a little hint about that....the black cars are about twice as fast as the red cars. They do this specifically for the unseen crowd above the arena that are secretly betting on these bare knuckle fist fights. I'll return to the gambling situation later, there is more to tell!!! Once the vehicles have been selected, remember to buckle your seatbelt and secure your belongings. There is no greater buzzkill in Whirlyball when someone just doesn't buckle their seatbelt and/or tobacco products fly out of your pants -- quite possibly due to the extreme turn on you will get while playing this amazing sport. Play is stopped while the offender is ridiculed beyond belief. So now that you have chosen the black vehicle (hopefully -- if not you may as well just give up and ride in circles the rest of the match), proceed to just melt the faces of your opponent and score 30+ points. Whirlyball isn't necessarily about talent, it's about demeaning your opponent in whatever way possible. Throw the ball in their face, keep them locked in a corner, have the ball smash into the wall with their cart while you just lock them all in for 3 minutes, or implement intricate choreographed celebration dances/cheers. You'll know it is working when they can't even get 10 points halfway through. Some other things to do while here - there is an arcade basketball shooting machine. I witnessed Kobe Bryant's doppelganger play this last night. There is a 1960's era television you can use to watch training videos of Whirlyball to up your game...don't mind the video, just bask in glory of this amazing antique. You will assuredly get an epiphany at this point that will make you simply dominant at Whirlyball regardless. There is also a full bar, $5 minimum on credit card transactions. I purchased 2 of the same beers just because I could, and decided to change it to a more expensive beer after I already paid. I got into a heated argument with the bartender because he didn't care about the $0.50 extra that the second beer cost, yet I was insisting to pay it back...a Lannister always pays his debts. Unfortunately his mustache bedazzled me and I just caved in. Lastly....if you happen to stay past 8pm, then you are in for one amazing treat. This is when the Mad Hatters Society runs up on this establishment and the real gambling begins. Always bet on the team with the visor, vehicle speed matters not in this case. And do not even consider the option that either team will score over 10 points. You will nearly always lose in that scenario. read more

How do you get 30 engineers and future physicians into a room together for two hours? You hand them paddles and go karts, let the timer run, and stand back to watch the fun! I came here for a friend's birthday party and came away with the desire to hit the gym, pump some iron, and return with some mean biceps for maximum paddle strength..oh yea! The venue is essentially a large warehouse with two giant courts outfitted with bumpers, huge electronic scoreboards, two backboards with nets, 10 go-karts per court (5 black and 5 red), and an elevated cage for the referee. Oh yes...there's a referee. Probably a good thing since even the most demure and shy seeming engineer can get feisty when faced with a horde of angry future physicians wanting to ram their go-kart into hers, steal the whiffleball, and drive it down to the other end of the field to smack it against the net (4 points for the net, 2 points for the board). Courts can be rented by the hour (about $160/hour) and each game runs for 13 minutes. We had a group of 30 for a 2 hour time slot. All in all, we each were able to play at least 2 games and paid $5/game. Pretty darn reasonable for the best invention since sliced bread. To top it off, there's even a small bar in the back and some state fair like treats (corn dogs, popsicles etc). Definitely a party to remember! read more

We do whirlyball for work events, and I am a fan. I am not coordinated in any way, shape, or form. I get out on that whirlyball court, and I have an ear to ear goofy smile the whole hour. How can a person not enjoy bumper cars, while playing a jai lai version of basketball?? They have laser tag, and bowling, but we haven't played those here. They also have a bar, which is handy. I've been here a number of times and it's always a lot of fun! The staff is very easy to work with and a great group of people. There is whirlyball, which is a combination of dodgem cars, basketball and lacrosse, bowling and laser tag. I usually bring a group of college students here at least once a year. The cost is not cheap but very reasonable considering how much fun the participants have. We usually reserve a whirlyball court as well as at least two lanes for bowling for two hours. We purchase pitchers of pop and I bring along snacks. The cost usually comes out to about $30 a person. Again, I think this is very reasonable for such a fun time. Check them out! This was our first visit here and I must say I I'm disappointed in the service and management. Rick was rude and very patronizing when speaking with us. We didn't know we had to bring our own plates and plastic utensils for a party. They weren't very clear in the instructions and he had no patience when explaining the rules. Outstanding!!!! The whirley ball was so fun! Even better than I remembered; it's been a at least a decade or so. The laser tag is amazing! It's made for adults and by adults. I've never seen so many 30-50 year olds having so much fun in a long time. Whether it's a corporate event, personal, or children's it's worth every penny. We showed up a bit late due to traffic but we were still able to get in 4 games of whirley ball and 2 laser tags. It's a bit hard to find but once you do you will. Totally disappointed with unexpected charges on my bill. Held a Birthday Party and discussed cost with the owner/manager several times and was told drinks were included/taken care of by the place. When it was time to settle my bill, I was charged $72.00 for Beverages. Upon arrival for my party I was told to come up and pick out soda flavors and bring the pitchers up to get refilled when they were empty. It's funny that I was told about prices for whirlyball, laser tag, and pizza, but never a mention of beverages. I feel this is terribly misleading and unappreciated. I was also asked to tip the staff at the end. For what, I thought? I had to set up tables, un-stack chairs, put them around the tables, and get refills of drinks myself. I feel this is another dishonest ploy to get more money from customers. read more

Okay, I loved playing whirlyball & the owner and his dog were very nice which is the only reason I'm giving this two stars instead of one but the one guy who was our referee was extremely RUDE and BORING. I would have preferred a more enthusiastic referee who was actually into the game and didn't sound so monotone and sad when he spoke. For example, I was speaking to my mom during the game and he thought I was talking to him and he said "what?" And I politely just responded "I wasn't talking to you" and he proceeds to say in a sarcastic tone "uhm I'm so confused as to why you're talking to me" and I said "I wasn't, I was talking to my mom" and again in a sarcastic tone says "Still very confused as to why you're talking to me...." like it was so bad if I actually was trying to talk to him? It was just very rude. The game wasn't even going on the cars were off and we were just waiting to start. I I just shrugged it off because he wasn't worth dealing with and I wasn't going to let him ruin my fun. If he spoke nicer to me that would have been very different. I don't remember his name but I want to say it was Chad? Anyway, he was awful and I feel bad for anyone who has him as a referee for their game. Im hoping he is not the only referee there so if I go back to play I can request someone else. Overall the game was very fun, I just did not appreciate the comments and lack of enthusiasm from our referee. read more

Good clean fun activity for work groups or any large group of people (10 or more). I've been a couple times now with my boyfriend's work, and it's a great time. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating, they don't act annoyed or put out if you need help with something, in fact they're often circulating asking around to see if people need anything. They also have a great craft beer selection, much better than most bowling alleys or arcades. The whirleyball of course is the highlight, although they also have bowling and laser tag, a couple people mentioned that the bowling alley isn't completely level (perhaps that adds to the fun?). I'll admit the inside is a little dingey, but places like these are, and in my opinion it doesn't distract from the experience.The whirleyball isn't hard to catch onto at all, and everyone from kids to older adults would have a great time playing. The price is about $165/lane per hour, so a little pricey, but again if you get a big group together it definitely makes it worth it! Went to WhirlyBall to play Laser Tag and bowl a few frames with my work team. While the place definitely shows it's age, everything worked great and we had a blast. 7 lanes of bowling, 2 WhirlyBall courts and a laser tag arena that can support up to 24 people. What stood out to us most was the service. We were late to our reservation due to travel delays, but the staff kept the place open for us, poured us some beers and got in on the fun.
