We moved to Tulsa in December '23, with a 6 year old, Czech import German Shepherd that we'd had for a few months. She had been used for breeding, required a C-section, and was no longer useful to the breeder. As a rescue, the breeder was familiar with us (we own her daughter), so he contacted us and surrendered her to us. We had her thoroughly vetted when she arrived in Oklahoma. After a few weeks in our home we contacted our trainer and got her into training as soon as possible. She was sweet and a good member of our pack, but largely unsocialized. When we brought her home it was time to address the last step in preparing her for her new life in our home, having her spayed. We made an appointment with Dr Thomas. After anesthetizing her the doctor tried to call us to tell us that she had a spay scar. When we called him back we discussed the c-section scar and decided to wait a week or so and start over. When we picked her up we found that while he had her anesthetized, he decided to perform surgery on her eyelid for some small defect I had not even noticed and we had not approved. I wish I had seen the red flag. Two weeks later we dropped her off to be spayed. We called to see if she was ready to be picked up and were told to wait until five. I walked over to pick her up a little before five and immediately noticed that she looked unstable. Her gums were pale and I asked if I should run her to Oklahoma Veterinary Specialists. Dr Thomas said no, took her back into his office and started IV fluids. After wasting what turned out to be the last 30 minutes I had to save her, he sent us home with a vet tech carrying the IV bag. I helped the still unstable dog. When we got to the door the vet tech gave me the IV bag and we've never heard from them again. After observing her for a couple of minutes I put her in the car and raced to OVS, calling to let them know the situation and that we were headed their way. Dr Hodges, who has helped us many times in emergencies, stayed and waited for us, rushing us in when we arrived. He worked on her for another 30 minutes. She coded twice and was unable to be revived a second time. She died of blood loss from internal bleeding. Dr.Thomas or his office never called to see how she was. We filed a complaint with the State Board. Imagine the State Board of Veterinary Medicine being unresponsive in the State of Oklahoma. Would you expect anything else? If you love your pet, stay away from Dr Chet Thomas and City Veterinary Hospital at 36th and Peoria. I wish we had. We obviously live close by and every time I see that building I feel sad and angry all over again.

WORST SERVICE HANDS DOWN!!! IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR PET BEWARE!!!…read moreCHECK OUT ALL THEIR FAKE FILTERED REVIEWS TOO!!! NICEEEEE..... WE ALSO REPORTED THIS PLACE FOR ANIMAL CRUELTY. We took our cat here, they said to drop him off before 10:30am. which we did. They stated he would be ready at 5:45pm. They placed him in his carrier upon arrival. When I got home, his back legs and tail where covered in dried pee. He had pee'ed all over himself! My husband calls there as soon as we got him home and noticed it. He gets the answering machine, as they were closed, so he had to get him in the shower to wash him! This is what we pay $55 for??? To have to bathe him again after we just had him groomed?? They offered to do the bath again if we brought him back up there! UMMM NO!! Lets stress the guy out more, and no we already bathed him! The manger did call after it was too late, we already had him in the shower bathing him, so he had the owner call him directly. The owner is HORRIBLE! I am surprised this place is still open!! The owner stated we should go somewhere else, we asked to be refunded 1/2 (as we felt this was a fair option even the stress this put on our cat) and she said no! She was rude and unprofessional! The sales manger states this place doesn't have liter boxes!! So how horrible is that, so the poor guy held it as long as he could then wets himself!!!! UNBELIEVABLE!! Not to mention he sat at the water bowl for 10 minutes drinking when he got home, so I assume they gave him no water either. To me, this place sounds like a great place to get a pet tortured!! I WILL NOT STEP FOOT IN THIS PLACE!! I highly stand behind my review as my pets are my kids!! This place is like dropping your kid off to a daycare with no diapers and no milk! The owner doesn't understand the concept of customer service and treated us with disrespect! Going to stick with our prior groomer, thought trying this place since they were a few bucks cheaper would be better option with it being closer, but HECK NO!! STAY FAR AWAY!!!

Though I've read good reviews, which I'm guessing it's fake reviews. If I saw the bad reviews before I would have never gone. One cat came home smelling like smoke and looked like a blind person cut his hair. It was all over the place and uneven and his front two legs were skipped completely. He had brown streaks across his face and Everytime I asked what was on his face, I was ignored. My other cat came home smelling like urine. His back two legs were yellow. His fur is white back there. It looked disgusting! My cat who loves to be held and has never hissed before...started to hiss when I picked him up. I'm worried he wasn't handles very well and is traumatized by the experience. My other cat stayed loving. Never going there again!!!!

She listened to our concerns and even watched a small video we took of our dog. She was concerned and recommended we get an X-ray if we wanted. She was not pushy. She just said we need peace of mind that it's not something else. She was right. Our little guy had bladder stones and one stuck in his urethrae. She called in the surgeon, Dr. Don Schmidt. He rearranged his schedule and got our boy straight in for surgery. We didn't have to take him someplace else or wait another day. That was so nice. He had his appointment at 2pm then surgery shortly afterwards and we had him in our arms by 6:30. I'm so impressed with them. Also, we asked for a refill from a previous vet on some anxiety medicine for him. Dr. Baker was like, no problem. She told us to order it through Chewy since they didn't have it in stock and we needed it quickly for the fireworks coming in a few days. She said she would take care of it on her end and give authorization to Chewy when they called. The only thing I was kind of disappointed about was the tension at the front desk when we checked out. There could have been better customer service there. But overall we were happy with the service and the amount of care from the vets. Update: When we got home a few hours later, our dog was wincing in pain. We gave him some of the meds the doctor gave us but he still winced terribly. We had to take him to the ER and leave him overnight to get a slow drip of pain meds. Update -2 weeks later- Midnight is doing so well. He seems like he has gotten two years knocked off his age. He's getting around like a spring chicken. We went back to get stitches out and the staff was excellent. The front desk staff took time to talk to me about my dogs, and Dr. Baker met with me and discussed what we need to do for Midnight going forward. She wrote it all down for me so I could look over my options. I am very pleased and will return.
