New to Minot ND & winner of Bacon & Brew at the Zoo, Whiskey Nine. The main level is family friendly, while the lower lever is +21 only. Both levels have the same food & drink menu. There are several simulators throughout, as well as a lovely lower level seating room area. On arrival, the server (also acting hostess) wasn't overly friendly or welcoming, though she quickly warmed up. We were in just to try a variety of items, including the full classic cocktail menu, to get our feet wet on our first visit. I received an immediate response from the business to a FB pic posted - which was nice... especially since we were still seated and they asked for feedback. All drinks were solid & ran between $19-$12ea. We opted for apps & desserts - they were out of gouda dip & bread pudding, both of which were on a to-try list. Bummer buuuut we will go back & give those a try too. The lower level was closed but we were offered a tour. It's not perfect but definitely worth a repeat.

So after a long day or driving from Saskatoon and 7 days on the road from Alaska I really wanted a good meal. I found this spot and it did not disappoint. The vibe is super chill and the staff all equally chill and helpful. We had pork belly which had a Asian flair to start, it was very good. We both had the Bison Meatloaf for our entrees which came with three pieces of meatloaf, Yukon good potatoes and choice of side. I had the green beans and she had the salad. The meatloaf was delicious! Very tasty, just the right amount of spice and tenderness. The potatoes buttery and soft, and the green beans delicious. Everything here is on point, I'd def come again.

Appetizers: Bacon-wrapped dates, pork belly and rice and peri-peri chicken wings.

Ended up for dinner tonight. Glad we did. Had bacon-wrapped dates, pork belly and rice, and peri-peri dry chicken wings for starters. All delicious, with Apple bacon and smoked sauces. Ordered beer-battered walleye with green beans and loaded mashed potatoes, NY Strip with wedge salad, and Meatballs with house salad, for dinner. Food arrived promptly, service was excellent and taste/pricing were spot-on. Great place to dine in a depleted dining scene in Minot, ND. Will return...

While visiting Minot, I wanted to try Whiskey Nine because of the great reviews, and I was not disappointed! I sat at the bar and the bartender was extremely personable and attentive! Everything on the menu looked great, and I loved the option of getting smaller dishes or one larger entree. I was between two options, and the bartender told me that one was one of his favorites, so I went with the pork tenderloin medallions. They were delicious and the creamy sauce on top of them was perfect! He also recommended the candied green beans and loaded potatoes as my sides, which were also amazing and went perfectly with the pork. I first tried the Trevino cocktail and then The Homa, both of which were great. If you like cinnamon, I highly recommend The Homa. The bar has a beautiful display of many whiskey bottles, and the entire restaurant is decorated nicely to feel upscale casual, like you know you're in a nice place but feel perfectly fine in a casual outfit. I may have to return tomorrow, just to try more of the menu before I leave Minot! I only wish I had more space for dessert which is amazing I'm sure, and I wish I could come back more often!

Great food, atmosphere and attentive staff. You can't beat the southwest chicken sandwich with their special ranch dressing, Also not pictured, the sirloin steak was tender and grilled just right and priced within my budget! My Mom loved the southwest chicken salad. Would definitely recommend this place and it will not disappoint! We'll be back!

I found the chicken a bit over cooked but understand it was a buffet. I enjoyed the fresh salad bar. I need to return and try a regular meal before I make a true assessment. Considering it was Easter and marketed as a special meal with a significant price I was a bit let down.

I recently had the chance to play Beowulf Golf Club in Minot, North Dakota, and I walked away with…read moremixed feelings. Let's start with the positives. The course itself is undeniably beautiful, laid out among the rolling hills of Minot, offering scenic views and well-maintained grounds. The fairways were in great condition, and the rough was challenging, as it should be. The layout featured interesting elevation changes and a variety of hole designs that kept the round visually engaging. That said, for the $129+tax green fee, I expected a lot more in terms of overall experience and amenities -- and unfortunately, that's where the course fell short. When I arrived, the pro shop was very small and not particularly welcoming. The on-site restaurant wasn't open, which meant there was nowhere to grab a drink or a snack before, during, or after the round. For a first-time visitor, this was a bit surprising. There was also no starter on duty, which made it difficult to get oriented with the course. No one was available to explain the layout, offer tips, or even provide basic directions for navigating between holes. Speaking of navigation, the signage throughout the course was lacking. There were very few directional markers to guide you from one hole to the next, and due to the hilly terrain, many of the tee boxes weren't visible from the cart paths. It made for a frustrating start, especially as someone unfamiliar with the layout. The golf carts were a plus -- modern and equipped with GPS. Unfortunately, the GPS wasn't updated to reflect actual pin placements, so yardages were often inaccurate. This led to several misjudged shots where we came up short or overshot the green entirely. For a course charging a premium price, I'd expect better accuracy. Another issue was ongoing course maintenance during play. After the first six holes, the tee makers had not been set on the tee boxes, so we had no idea where to hit from on the tees. There was another hole, a short par 3 on the back, where workers not only did not get out of the way of our shots, but they also sat in the cart and in the bunker on their phones as we hit over them. It was unprofessional, distracting, and unsafe. I absolutely understand that maintaining a course takes effort, but tasks like mowing in play areas, bunker work, and tee box setup should ideally be completed early in the morning before players are on the course. One notable feature was the greens -- some of which had unique and sometimes quirky designs. Several greens were shaped like bowls, which made even average shots seem better than they were. One green had a pointed ridge running through the center, almost like something you'd see on a miniature golf course. It bordered on gimmicky and could be frustrating depending on your ball placement. As someone who has played golf extensively throughout the United States and in several different countries, I always look for something that sets a course apart -- whether it's the design, the service, the scenery, or the overall experience. Unfortunately, Beowulf Golf Club didn't quite deliver that. There was nothing particularly memorable or standout about the experience. The course reminded me of a blend between some Scottish-style courses -- but without the charm or history -- and West Coast valley courses but lacking their strategic complexity and challenge. Missing were the typical course services you'd expect for the price: no beverage cart, no marshals on the course, and very limited water access (only near restrooms). These small things add up and significantly affect the overall experience. All in all, I think Beowulf Golf Club has real potential. The setting is great, the course conditions were solid, and the views alone are great. But the lack of amenities, poor signage, operational oversights, and steep pricing left me disappointed. If you can snag a significantly reduced tee time, it might be worth playing for the scenery and the layout. But for the current rate, I'd likely choose a different course that offers a more complete golf experience -- even if the course conditions aren't quite as pristine.
