Sirloin with a loaded baked potato and scallops
    Savannah G.

When we walked in we didn't know if we were suppose to wait to be seated or seat ourselves so we stood there for a few minutes until one of the patrons told us we could seat ourselves. The menu looked great and prices were reasonable. I've only had to assemble my bake potato in a cafeteria setting so that was odd to me and the steak was cooked well but had zero seasoning.

    The whole bunch!

Ordered a medium cooked steak and it came out cold and bloody. Not worth the effort to eat here.

( I am in my 50's, to give some perspective) Solid & hearty food: meaty shrimp, yummy made to perfection baked potato, tender steak... Reasonably priced. Fabulous & friendly service. I highly recommend. 5 out of 5 for me !

We were advised at 639pm that they were sold out of both the tenderloin & ravioli. That had a bait & switch feel to it, as I find it hard to believe that they sold out of tenderloin, a main meat dish, the BIG DRAW IN, in 9 minutes, unless they only had 2 to begin with. We change the plan and half of us order halibut (with a 50 cent upsale for sauce, which was more of a laughing moment than anything- as they ask when you order if you want the orange sauce or tarter sauce, as if you were choosing between one or the other... then pop a 50 cent charge on for either option selected.) The other half, including myself, order the prime rib. It was a mediocre cut but was cooked properly & came with a baked potato. Butter packets on the side & no options to load it up. Adding shrimp was a great value and they were probably the highlight of the meal. Overall, it was not as expected & I regret not choosing elsewhere. The drinks, (we ordered top shelf), were light pours, tho reasonably priced. Not a mask in site, aside from our own & no social distancing in table arrangements. The company was great and service was good. We probably won't give it another shot as there are better options available & plenty of new digs to try!

They came out quickly. The margarita slushy was on special & was basically like drinking a frozen pouch sold for $1.50 in every liquor store... not a great value or drink. The beer on tap was a Minnesota brew, no complaints there. The poutine was frozen curds over frozen fries with packaged gravy. It could be worse & could be certainly be better. I ordered a western burger, which came out well done on a chilled bun - with onion rings, which were decent tho I'd venture to say frozen. Hubs ordered a 3pc chicken with fries & the leg & thigh were good, but the breast was pretty dry. For $65, I dare say we could have done much better elsewhere. Of course, there aren't a lot of other options to choose from close by. The food is your basic bar, inexpensive frozen fare that's deep fried and over-priced, but will do in a pinch. I will note that they offered some dinners with some better side options - and - again, the service was really good. You can only expect so much tho from quick-fix products.

Pretty solid start. We were also the only table in the dining area. Drinks come, we start to ask about food. On the entree portion it says to ask for a Steak Menu, if you're interested in that. So we did, and were told they don't have a steak menu. All of their entrees are listed on the menu. So after finding them as a steakhouse and not seeing any steaks on the menu i had to ask, "So do you sell steaks?".. which they did, just their menu must have been outdated. She mentioned the surf and turf which made my ears perk up. My interest was piqued. I get soup or salad, caesar salad it is. Grilled or breaded shrimp (wanted to skip the grease) grill em. How do i want my steak cooked? Rare. Side to go with it? Loaded baked potato...........they dont serve them until after 5, fine make it mac and cheese. I also ordered the ruben bites for the table to snack on. Appetizers come and there is only one complaint so far from my peer. She ordered the soup of the day "Veggie Beef" and received "Chicken Noodle", which made it seem like the waitress we had was misinformed. The board at the front also said veggie beef, so there was a missing link in communication somewhere. Onto the entree.... My shrimp were cooked, and seasoned with a small amount of pepper. My steak was sat upon a single leaf of lettuce (i could've done without) and was cooked to a perfect medium (remember i wanted rare), and the mac and cheese was fresh out of a Kraft blue box with a bit of shredded cheese melted on top. Now, i am not one to send food back, and its not my first time eating blue box nor a steak thats cooked more than i like. But the waitress didnt ask me how anything was or how my steak was cooked after she served it. I ate it all anyhow. The bill comes, my surf and turf was $33, and i had a $2 up charge for mac and cheese. When i say that i laughed out loud, i cant exaggerate how silly i felt for not sending any part of this back. Super lack luster visit, wouldn't be high on my recommendation list to anyone. Unfortunate.

It was popper stuffed egg rolls. Secret cheeses and diced peppered, deep fried in the wrap. Really really good and unique. I had to try the Bacon Macaroni and Cheese burger. It was really incredible, coming from a restaurant in a town with a population of 300+ folks. The burger was thick, and perfectly cooked. Not too dry, with a slightly juicy light pink center. The Mac and cheese and the bacon crumbles were so good and the potato roll was soft and I just loved it . I could only eat half, the rest is coming on the plane ride home. I don't know when I will be back, but I'm glad I stopped!! I wish them luck! PS: The sweet tea was perfect too, for a hot summer day and the cool breeze of ND. Friendly service, unsuspecting amazing food!

Unfortunately their cook was hospitalized and their kitchen was closed so we went to the other option in Max: Pour Choices Bar and Grill - formerly The Max Cafe. Pour Choices Bar and Grill was having their Grand Opening Weekend so we decided to eat lunch there. My buddy ordered an Aloha Burger which he said was just ok but he said the fries were great. I ordered the Chicken Wing Basket they were excellent, very nicely rendered and crispy. I ordered garlic parmesan wings and they had very good flavor and even with the garlic parmesan they remained crispy and delicious. The wing basket comes with fries and cole slaw but don't get the waffle fries unless you want a $3 up charge! We ate in the bar and it was dimly lit and I didn't see that the waffle fries was an upcharge, I thought it said the wings came with waffle fries and cole slaw but they assured me when charging that the menu said it was extra... 4 Stars for the wings but minus one for the food taking a very long time... 35-40 minutes to come out and it wasn't that busy but I'd still recommend eating there but YMMV. We'll definitely make another drive to Max and try out the Red Light next time. One thing that does bother me is the waitress just announced the bill total without presenting a printed bill for the customer to examine and then pay. I had to ask for a printout and I think that should be a given. $14 wings and a $3 Pepsi turned out to be $21+ because I didn't see the fine print about the waffle fries. They were very good waffle fries but had I known I wouldn't have opted for the extra $3 charge as the regular fries would have been plenty good to have as well.
