If I could go -5 stars they'd get it. We called ahead and made a reservation. When we showed up we were seated the table was ok but the lighting was awful to see the menu. We were ready to order and I ordered the steak tip salad. The response was they were out of lettuce. How do you run out of lettuce? It's a regular item in the menu. I decided on a burger and a glass of wine. My wine came and the glass had lipstick and lipstick residue on it. I didn't even take a sip. While waiting for our burgers to come, nobody came to check on us or give us an update on why our food was taking so long. We watched wait staff come and go around the place and congregate at the coffee station. One server dropped a spoon on the floor and 3 servers walked by it. Two of them walked by it twice each. I didn't even take a sip of my wine we sat there for over 30 minutes just waiting for our food, how long should it take for a burger? I can tell you not that long. So we got up and spoke with one of the servers to let them know we were leaving and that we were not paying for the wine since I didn't drink it and it was served in a dirty glass. My intention was to get a new one when the burger arrived and let it slide. But when we were ignored that made it clear that we would not be giving it a second chance. When we told the server she told maybe the manager woman who also spent a bit of time behind the bar and at the tables and she came over to us and said she would check the ticket time. Like ticket time matters anymore to us. They checked and we said no we are leaving. The response was do you want it to go. No we wanted food at a reasonable amount of time after ordering and attentive waitstaff. It was not that busy as far as patrons go. It was busy if you count the party at the coffee station however. Too bad because we get our mail right up the street and it could have been a regular stop for us but this place is a one and done for me. Oh and the ticket time ended up being 38 minutes I believe she said. 38 minutes to get 2 burgers I wonder how long it would have taken to get a steak tip salad like I wanted but couldn't because there was no lettuce? At the 45 minute mark of being in the restaurant we got up and told the server we could no longer wait. My wife was given a glass of wine with someone else's lipstick smudge on it. As we are going to leave 3 people say wait let me check the ticket time on the slip like it's going to make a difference about how long we were waiting for. They come out and say it's only been 35 minutes?? I said it's not even busy. There were no other customers that hadn't been served. At first look we liked the place and the grilled steak smells were wonderful. We were told at a place across the street by some patrons not to go there. They said the staff was rude and the prices were high. So, we walked in. We ordered Bacardi and were told they didn't have any. We said okay give us Tito's and we're very rudely told they don't sell that in Mississippi. I responded with well, I've had it twice today in two different bars. I was pretty much blown off at that point so to count this place we had crappy Captain Morgan's silver. I'm told the food is great but I will not spend another dime here. I know 2 younger girls who work at shaggy's and come into this place and get away with drinking. They really need to be more careful with checking ID because these girls have been drinking at this place Under Age for quite some time. We love staying at the Whiskey Hotel and was lucky Whiskey Prime was open. The crap cake bisque was like a great rock song to my tastebuds. Well the dining only got better. My lamb chops came out looking like a work of art and tasted even better! My side of bourbon sweet potatoes came out in a single serving cast iron skillet and had a nice crispy cream brûlée top, did I say yummy! My hubby said his filet was one of the best he has had ever! We split a bread pudding. Bread pudding is not one of my favs but out of love I split one with the hubby. OMG I loved the bread pudding, it was not to sweet and very light, just delightful! Our server was very attentive and sweet. From now on traveling to Florida from Texas we will have to make sure our travels stopping here for a fine meal! Hats off to the chief. read more

This was our first time to eat here and it was on the first day of opening after the pandemic. Well these folks did AMAZING When we arrived for our reservation we were promptly greeted and seated at a clean and sanitized table with our hostess and waitress in masks. The Chef Ally and her sous chef Franco both took a moment to describe the menus and specials and they were FABULOUS. My Tuna steak was one of the best I've ever had cooked exactly the way I ordered. My girlfriends Filet was definitely on FIRE and she couldn't stop enjoying the flavorful steak until the last bite was gone. Then for desert we had a Blackberry white chocolate bread pudding which we throughly enjoyed to the last bite. As much as I like about this restaurant I have to note that last week I was in for a drink & an app. The special was a "cuban" style Scallop dish. Nicely prepared, a bit large for a first course if one wanted to spend more for the steaks, but, I got the bill, & unannounced previously was the price, $25. !! OMG, love this restaurant! Stopped in as we got to town yesterday for a drink and met Sarah who mixed us some great drinks! Teresa (the hostess) then convinced us to make reservations for the next night dinner. Franco the chef, then shared a taste of an awesome soup he was preparing. That convinced us that we would be back for dinner!! Skip to the next evening and we show up for our dinner reservation and all of the staff go out of their way to welcome us and make suggestions for our dinner. None disappointed!! I drive from Mandeville to go to Whiskey Prime about once a month. The quality of the food and the awesome staff keep me going back.

I was called a liar by the co owner, said I was just a disgruntled ex employee that couldn't handle the volume of his 34 seat "upscale (lol)" restaurant. I am owed a mere $10.96 because I SENT MY DISHWASHER TO THE STORE IN MY OWN CAR during a weekend rush because we ran out of heavy cream. That night I followed procedures, turned in my receipt for accounting and ended up quitting 2 days later......I asked for my money several times and was told that I cost them way more than that because they were SITED by the HEALTH DEPARTMENT with a RED C last week.........Not quite sure how their inadequacies are my problem?????? The very last time I asked for my little $10 reimbursement, I was given, with a smirk, a Walmart sack half full of fresh ginger, which I had requested for the restaurant 3 weeks ago when I was still working there, as my payment and once again was told that I cost them way over $10.........I cleaned that literal rat hole up for 4 months until about 3 weeks ago. I am at a loss for words............................. I hate to give bad reviews, but this place should have been better. All I can say is don't order the creamed spinach. Inedible! The scallops and grits, scallops were raw. The mashed potatoes has a strange flavor. I'm going to assume Sunday night, no staff that knows how to cook. Yikes. read more

Love whiskey Prime for a good mix of atmosphere, food and friendly staff. It's a small, sophisticated place for a very casual beach town. Nice people watching too. Usually has tables mixed with New Orleans summer home folks, locals, and good characters. The drinks are cold and strong. Steaks are excellent. But it's the gulf coast so expect good seafood too. I always get the pickled shrimp as an appetizer. Tangy and good. It's a fun place to go but always crowded. If it's a weekend you'll have to reserve a table ahead of time. I hate to give a negative review of a restaurant, I also hate to base a review on the cost of the entrees. That said, our meal was very disappointing. First the pros, our waitress was top notch, answered all our questions and quick to respond to our requests. We started with mixed drinks, my wife a cosmopolitan and a Paloma for me - both were excellent. Now the cons, my wife ordered a filet, I ordered a NY strip, we each requested medium rare. The steaks first came out extremely over cooked, at best medium well. This should not happen in a top end steak restaurant. We rarely send food back but we had to do so. The second round came out medium rare but were very tough. I seriously doubt that these steaks were prime as stated on the menu. Of course I can't prove this still I've never had a "prime " steak this tough. Another complaint is the wine by the bottle mark up, I'll not complain to a 100% over retail in a restaurant but these prices are closer to 200% over retail. For example, Rombauer chard that you can get for $40 in most wine shops, demands $111 a bottle here. Given that you are paying close to $50 a steak here, the quality falls far short. Needless to say we'll not be back. read more

We came to Whiskey Prime for their cocktails. We sat at the bar, but had a full view of their cooking area and grill. A man next to us at the bar had ordered the appetizer portion of lollipop lamb chops. He was raving about them and ordered a second plate of them. One plate could have been my dinner, with a small salad or veggie. We had cocktails, and they were very good, and reasonably priced. The regular menu prices for their steaks was four dollar signs worth - $42 to 47 for a steak. We did see the cook grilling a steak for someone's order. It was large, and charred quickly on the grill. My husband and I had an early dinner here last night. It wasn't the first time we had eaten here--I already knew their crab cakes are scrumptious! I had a 4 oz. Filet which was wonderful. My husband had a delicious pasta dish with scallops. The star of the evening, however was the Soup du Jour, Spinach Artichoke. My steak was cooked perfectly and was the best steak I have had in years. Absolutely top quality. My husband got the flounder and it was magnificent. We ordered cocktails to start and they were 2 of the best I have had in my life. I don't even like old fashions, which my husband ordered, but my mind was changed when he insisted I try his. The service was great. The bartender was very knowledgeable and also very fun. We tried a couple whiskeys and were thoroughly entertained. No stars. We never ate. Drove an hour to get there. We are early eaters and arrived when they opened at 5:00. Not one person in there. We were asked if we had a reservation which we did not. We were told all tables were reserved. I will say we were offered a high top in the bar. We don't drink, weren't there to drink, don't sit in bars to eat, and for what this meal was going to cost, preferred the dining room. We left and won't be back. There are way too many proven fabulous restaurants in Harrison County. I will never understand why you turn a paying customer away. $150 meal and a $30 tip.
